How is this removed? I know that there is a screw on the side but how do you get it out to swap?

I take it you are having problems getting it to come out far enough?? If so, you just have to either cut or break the wire to the O/D button. When installing the new shifter, make sure to splice in some new wire on the ends. This will allow for more length the next time you have to remove the shifter.

At least, I hope that's what you were asking about.

Also to add to Phils great advise, if you cut the wires, and I warn you theres not much slack at all, cut them down as far as possible. It's hard to keep the wires connected when you have to splice them somewhere inside the shifter handle column itself....
