Great Lakes Dragaway, Union Grove, WI

How much?

$30 per driver, $12 per spectator. SVTOA members can receive a $5 discount at the gate for drivers.

What else should I know if I'm going to race?

If you plan on running less than 14's, you need a helmet. Shorts are not allowed, nor are sandals. Your car will be tech inspected. The inspector may randomly inspect engine bays or trunks, but not always. For example: battery relocation requires an external cut-off switch. Other mods may require similar safety features. Keep this in mind.

I know this is a ways off, but looking at their schedule, there are only a few saturdays in the coming months that are open racing. This is the first one that I would be able to attend. Also, fall will bring cooler temps meaning lower times. We will leave for dinner whenever we get tired of racing or at 8pm when the track closes; whichever comes first. Dinner location TBD (suggestions welcome). Concessions are insanely expensive, so I will be bringing a cooler with beverages.

nope, i'm stayin all night

OH fyi...i'm looking at doing an auto-x the day after(oct 2)

anyone that wants to come along is more than welcome to crash at my place....it's about 20 minutes from GLD, and 10 minutes away from the auto-x and just about every eating establishment you can imagine is within minutes. anyone running much of any drop on an SVT may not make it over the 6 damn speed bumps tho .

I appreciate the offer, but when it's only $29/night it's not really an issue. Unfortunatly, it looks like I'll be getting off work @ 7a that morning and then driving up there. So I might only be at the hotel one night (Sat) instead of two(Fri/Sat). Two nights would be better because I have a $50 off two night stay coupon - which would make the room $4/night.

do you guys have any other meets around town? where do you guys hang out? i always see some guys driving around in there SVT's but i never can see if they beling to this forum.

i live in Mchenry now but i used to live in algonquin. I work in Cary... maybe i have seen some of you guys around.

i probabaly wont be able to come on the 1st as I still have yet to figure out my CEL that popped up... Ford says its coming from teh fuel level indicator AND the catalitic converter, which he said 99% of the time is sulfur deposits in the fuel... thats funny because i use BP priemium 99% of teh time... anyway i have to figure it out soon so i can get teh emmissions tested. hopefully they dont suspend my liscence.

Bunch o' Ricers man, stay away from them...On guy has a vacuum gauge in his car because his car sucks so bad, the other one has a SC in a 4 cylinder auto, another guy pained his grill red for no reason at all, another guy put nawwwwwssssss in his ride because he wanted to try to catch lightnings, another one keeps promising headlights to people but then says "No you can't have them, theyre a prototype and you cant drive my car unless you have boobs, another guy sold his Contour a while back and drives an El Camino but sleeps with his headers everynight, then the king...This one guys got so many indiglo gauges in his car that even when he gets out of the car his skins still glowing green!!!!!! Looks like a reakin' star trek meets the incredible hulk meets the blob focker!

Dude, move while you can, move before Uncle Ben becomes the primary sponser of your car...This place sucks and i hate you all........

Did I mention the fine chick that owned three Contours, she's cool, but her wife sucks!!!!

Hey guys, I am new to the Contour group and am interested in the drag meet this weekend. I have a few questions. Is it open to anyone? How many times do you get to race for $30.00? Can you race anyone or does it have to be in the same car category? I have a bet with my son who has a Probe GT with several mods that I WILL beat him. Can we race together? My SVT is stock with the exception of the Magnaflow catback system. Anything I should be concerned with? I think Pole is closest to me and I wouldn't mind if he checks the car over before Saturday. I'd like to meet you guys as it seems you know the cars inside and out. Pole, are you up to it? Or anyone else in the Brookfield area? Thanks in advance for the help.

Yeah, i'll do that, not sure what i can tell you as the main issue with dragging these cars is blowing the stock differential.

The $30 is for as many runs as you can fit into a day.

Yes you can race together, just line up behind eachother and tell the person staging that you want to race the guy behind you.

You're more than welcome to follow me and anotehr car or two to hetfields.

I've sent you a PM with my phone #.

guys this is "00 Sveet's" Son... Looking forward to seeing you guys at GLD on the 1st.. I am a member of ProbeTalk.com and as soon as I saw this I thought it would be a good idea to get some probes over to GLD as well. Hopefully there will be at least 5 or 6 there but we will have to find out. The only thing I am questioning is on the GLD website it says oct 1 is harley day.... i know it used to say open racing but now it does not.. you guys have any thoughts on this? i wouldnt want all these people showing up and then not being able to race....

So there's still open racing. My guess, though, is that it will be very busy. Don't expect to get very many runs in.

I couldnt make it today . My grandfather (the one who taught me everything about cars) passed away this week. He had been sick for several weeks till he couldnt take it anymore.

The excuses come out AGAIN. I can see it happening some time or another BUT almost EVERYTIME is ridiculous. I talked to Kev Friday night and he said he was probably going to go....no family issues there. I call him in the morning and he has his phone off? At least tell me you are not going.....As far as you Phil, you ALWAYS have some family obligation....so I really didn't expect you to go. Matt I wasn't talking about. Even though he has kids and is married he can make the time to come and hang out and cruise. For Mikey, don't know, but I know Asiya is do very soon....not to mention he made the last drag meet....unlike some other people.

We meet up all the time. we always call you and you say you'll probably be around and don't make it. Don't try turning things on others when you o the exact same thing.
