I dont know what are the usual price of those but my gf spot a cougar v6 mtx 1999 with 180 000km on it for 4000$, we,re going to look for it to see the shape but just wanna know if it a interesting price for me, what to beware or having to check carefully on the car compare to a contour before buying ?

Well, mechanically Cougars are identical to Contours, as they are buit on the same platform. Check it as you would any used car, but I would pay attention to the front end, making sure it's OK (ball joints, tie rod ends, etc).

Also, make sure the A/C is good. That's not super cheap to fix.

You won't go wrong taking it to a mechanic for an inspection before you buy.

The most common gripes I hear from some Cougar owners are:

- sunroof
- alternator

ok the guy sold the car 30min before we were supposed to test drive it... funny thing the alternator broke down during their test drive so they had to bring back the car on a tow truck haha

ha ha..good thing you didnt buy that car.
