ok so i was searching on the maintenance forum and was trying to find the proper part number for plugs, but i saw about four different kinds talked about on the posts and when i checked out motorcrafts site i found 3 different parts numbers on there. Last time i got some plugs from Crappy Tire that siad would work for the styque, but when i went to put them in they wouldnt fit. On another note, I need to replace the spark plug wires too, and i was wondering if those perfomance ones are any better than OEM. Someone said in the Intake Posting that its little or no difference.

Thanks for any info

Autolite Double Platinum. Part # APP764. Go to carquest and ask for that part number. Heres the web site: Autolite Contour Plugs

I have Autolite Double Platinums in the car now.. noo problems whats so ever.. thats what the car was designed with in mind... don't listen to the dealer when they tell you the car needs some overpriced Ford plug that are not even single platinum.. go with Autolite Double Platinums.. thats what was in the car from the factory

Wrong....Ford later changed to Single plat, fine wire electrodes. I have the O.E. Plugs from my car to prove it.

Also, Autolite makes Motocraft plugs for Ford. To me it sounds like you had a know-nothing parts guy trying to sell you the incorrect plugs. The updated plug for all 2.5L engines are AGSF32FM.

The Autolite APP764's are closest to what Ford originally spec'ed but now apparently Autolite is not making a fine wire single plat plug similar to what Ford now spec's ( XP104)

I stand corrected Pretty much everyone that goes with Autolite double platinums has no problems.. and I was sure that was originally in the car..

I also heard that Autolite does not supply parts for Ford anymore.. because you can't get the Autolite double platinums from Ford..

In any case go with Autolite.. I also had Bosch Platinum +4 for 100,000 kms with no problems.. but because of mixed reviews I have switched to Autolite.. could also be that my car is non-SVT and SVT's have a reputation of not liking +4s

cheers

Wow all those posts and everyone gave Duratec #'s, no one clued in that he has a 95 Zetec even though it's in his signature.

Motorcraft Finewire plug 1995 FORD CONTOUR 4-121 2.0L DOHC
AYFS22FM Suppressor Spark Plug
FINEWIRE PLATINUM - NICKEL PLATED SHELL

Autolites.
Engine Type 4-2.0L F/inj. (3) engine type?
Available Brand Name Part Number PlugGap Notes
Autolite Plugs APP5344 .050 Use until inventory is depleted
Autolite Plugs APP5364 .050 Replaces APP5344
Autolite Plugs XP5364 .050 OE Style

I would stick with OEM, but you can get the Accel wires from CT I believe for the Zetec only.
If you can find them you can get Autolite wires too. You'll need to search Autlotiles website to find a suppliers though.

I didn't read too deep into the first post (reading sucks). I was mainly correcting the incorrect info given in the post I replied to.

Not grumpy it just that Loggerbomb couldn't figure out which plugs he needed because there's so many part numbers and what do we do we give out more bad info.

So he comes to the local board for help!
I would hate for any of us to give one of our own the wrong info!
Having someone try to put in the wrong size plugs would be a bad thing.

i use all ngk stuff and my mystique runs mint. When i bought the car the plugs looked like they were origninal. The wires were blue streak/standard and they arced all the time. The plugs i use now are NGK #2467 (PTR5A-13)double platinums and the wires are a set of NGK OEM style. But there mint wires there already bright blue and blingy like LOL

damn you know what i think i was given the wrong plugs.
The ones I got the other day are #AZFS22PP stock number 4Z1 that doesnt seem to match with any of the numbers Ive been given.

Oh and HAPPY EASTER!

there is one number that is close to the one i was given -AYFS22FM but a search of the Motorcraft site didnt even come up with the number I was given.

oh and FWIW, I took the one plug out and its looking ok, just some black around the top of the threads, though it does have some rust at the base of the porcelain. Is that normal? I am also not sure what to use to gap the plug. I have a round gap tool but I was told that those are not very good to use...and what should you use to bend the tip?
