Hey Guys,

Just got back from skipping Christmas. Drove 9 hours to the Mont St. Anne ski resort which is about 1/2 hour outside Quebec City. Skiing conditions were awesome. The place got hammered with 80cm of snow the last night I was there. Yeah it was fun driving back home. I kept my gas receipts and turns out I averaged 9L on the highway route driving at 120km/h. Anybody seen better numbers? Oh yeah and cheers to all the crazy Montreal drivers I wanted to run off the road!

When I drove from Ottawa to Chatham, ON I was getting 9.9-10.5. I thought it was really bad...and it is, but now I don't feel so bad.

Now just to get the city mileage that good, I don't even want to know what it is!

Our 5 speed cars need a 6th gear for high speed cruising.

HELL YA !!
too bad our cars aren't RWD, it would be so easy to add an electronic overdrive.

It would be even cooler if we could've had the Contour with AWD! Hmm I think FORD did an excellent job with the suspension and axle set up on our cars. They should've used more aluminum in the front end though...cars are heavy.

Mont Ste. Anne is the best place I have ever been skiing used to go every year. We stayed at the little Chalets at the bottom of the hill. Ski right to your door and just steps away from the gondola to the top of the hill. I miss going, maybe some day I will get back there.

I totally agree about it being a great resort. It's well worth the 9 hour drive. Me and my buddies got up every morning at 7am for breakfast. By 8:30am we were walking out of the building straight into the Gondola. The first half of the day I skied down with them on the green and blue runs. Come afternoon I was rocking the single diamonds solo. Puah puah puah (chicken sound) to them! Laura if You wanna go this season, give me a shout. Anybody else interested?

I would love to go but cannot afford it. You want a really good deal contact Chalet's Mont Ste Anne (the brownish townhouses at the bottom of the hill) they have a couple of times a year that skiing is included in the rental of the chalet. Depending on how many people you get in the chalet it could cost about $300 per person, or less, for 4 days of skiing including your accommodations. And the best you ski right to your door. I know they do it in February sometime. The hill is never busy either. I have NEVER stood in line for any lift at that hill.

As for black diamonds, I am a chicken, I stick with the green and a few of the blues. I am not a very good skier but just like to go and have fun. I like skiing on the other side (I think it is the north side) the runs are shorter and are pretty easy. Still have to come back down the other side though at the end of the day. I miss it I havnt been in about 4 years now.

We used to eat breakfast at the top of gondola in the mornings was pretty cool to do that first thing in the morning.

Yeah the resort is on the expensive side but it pays off in terms of not being overcrowded like other places. Plus the service was great. I stayed in the hotel part of the resort and my window faced the townhouses. Me and my friends are thinking of getting a bunch of people next year to rent one of the townhouses...cause like You said it is cheaper. And all You have to do is bring your own food.

As for skiing this year....how bout a one day escapade to Blue Mountain?

That might work. I have only skiied in Ontario 2 times in my life and I am not very good but as long as I stay on the smaller hills I am fine. I have a friend that wants to go this year sometime. If we are going out I will let you know and if you are gonig let me know. I was actually thinking of Hockley but we could do somewhere else too.
