anyone know of one? im willing to even drive as far as SD, since we love going there anyways

im presently wrapping up my 3L project and need to have it dyno-tuned. per Stazi "Call them and find out if they can tune (either through a flas/chip/XCal2) a Ford Contour with an EEC-IV computer. If they say what the expletive is that - say thankyou and hang up."

ok, i dont know jackshiite about dyno-tuning so if anyone can hold my hand and explain what needs to be done and what ill need (Xcal?) ill buy you a whole BOX of cookies

oh yeah, a shop that has experience with tuning 3Ls.
Head to Phoenix and have it done by the experts at ADC or whatever they are called now.

That's where I went! 22 pulls later Chris had me dialed in. I've been planning on going back for another session, and Chris is game, but with a wife and two small ones running around, it's been hard to even think about going back out. ADC is awesome, and they have a boatload of experience.

I know you have probably considered ADC, why take a chance?

i hadnt considered driving to ADC for a tune cuz i never would have even thought of it. now that you guys mention it i think its an excellent idea!! that way i can hopefully have the Xcal done while im there as well. ROAD TRIP!

think theyll be able to do it in one trip? id really hate to have to make multiple road trips. Dion, was it really expensive? im curious just cuz of how much they charge for a prepped 3L block.

thanks for all the input guys!

Tune is about $400 including chip and unlimited Dyno Runs IIRC.

Provided no issues I would imagine they could tune your car in 4hrs or so. I'd drive in, spend the night in a hotel, have your appt in the morning, and drive her home that evening. Phoenix to LA is about 6hr drive right?

sounds about right.

hmm.....high speed driving through the CA/AZ desert

um, in theory only

I know nothing of dyno shops, but congrats on finishing the car! We've got to have a get-together, prolly late November or early December, once my new suspension is in. To that effect, I'm in communication with John right now...

cool. then you'll also be able to recommend him to people here. he's really a godsend to us. he doesnt do it for the money but for the love of Fords.

he'll work on other cars too

btw, we're not finished yet. im just making plans for the tune for when we are done.

Not at all, it was worth it also. I did it differently. I left early one morning, met up with Chris at around 10 am, we got done at around 2pm, and I was home by 730 pm. What difference!

I want to go back because I have removed all cats and I want to tune on race gas as well, since my motor is a hybrid with slightly higher compression. My chip is an older Diablosport flip chip, and ADC has changed back to Superchips.
