Would anyone be interested in me trying to set up a Guadalupe River tube float this summer for CEGers?
Posted By: ssmumich00_dup1 Re: Guadalupe River Float - 01/23/04 05:03 PM
what is that?
Posted By: TexasRealtor Re: Guadalupe River Float - 01/23/04 05:23 PM
You float down to river on innertubes, drink beer, etc. Very big in New Braunfels.

Dummy, that's why you save all the beer cans. What I need to do is plan something for Wurstfest week as well.

New Braunfels is 20 miles North of San Antonio on IH-35.

I'm down. Only if Zum wears a bikini, though.
Posted By: TexasRealtor Re: Guadalupe River Float - 01/24/04 02:40 PM
I guess we should shoot for sometime in June. Everyone interested give feedback as to what dates work best for them. And for those unfamiliar with the Guadalupe float, it can get kinda crazy, not the place for kids. I can reserve some camping spots for those interested. Otherwise there are two options:

1. Rent a house for the weekend, but someone has to be liable for it and put thier name on the deposit(and it ain't gonna be Homey!).

2. Reserve a block of rooms somewhere(best Option), like a motel or the Guadalupe Outpost.
Posted By: infuryum_dup1 Re: Guadalupe River Float - 01/24/04 02:46 PM
Renting a house would be tite. I say Chris H. puts his name on it.

Sounds like we have some interest. Let me check out the different rates and see what I can find. I was thinking about the Guadalupe Outpost in New Braunfels. It has rooms, a camping area and it is on the river. Some of the rooms have kitchenettes.

that there are. however, rudy's is the first you see leaving the area and even though it's chain, they're still pretty good.

For those of you who aren't familiar with this, there are several places you can tube, some more rustic than others. The Comal is one of the less rustic ones. It runs right by Schlitterbahn. One float takes about 1.5 hours, and you can ride a shuttle back to do it again.

The Guadalupe is a little longer, around 4.5 hours if you do the whole thing. It's bigger and when I went, less crowded than the Comal, and a little closer to nature. Usually there's only enough time for one float. When the sun gets low, it gets chilly fast.

Guad has a couple rapids, while the Comal is more relaxed and mostly people watching. It depends on what you're in the mood for but either way it's a good time.
Posted By: infuryum_dup1 Re: Guadalupe River Float - 01/26/04 03:13 AM
I'm sure I'll be in the mood for laying in the middle of a rubber and drinking beer all day. So pick one for me, Obiwan.

If you want some good "Q" you have to go to Granzin's or Keno's. We probably want to avoid holiday weeekends like Memorial Day or July 4th, because it is TOTALLY insane and everything is priced at a premium. Other weekends are just as much fun. We should also try to go to Gruene Hall one night.

You have to be 21. You also have to be 21 to sign for the Guadalupe Outpost rooms. I'm not sure how old you have to be to sign for Motel 6.

So how does the weekend of June 12-14 work for everyone? If this is OK, I'll reserve a block of rooms and campsites under CEG.I'll have them keep them reserved until 6/7/04, so everyone should be able to know if they are going and I won't have to put up a deposit to hold them. I figured maybe 5 rooms and 5 campsites. Let me know if this is cool and I'll get some prices set.

It's all adults going so liability won't be an issue. Like I said, I'll co-sign on a house with someone.

Think... American Pie 2...

Please dear god, no camping.
Posted By: infuryum_dup1 Re: Guadalupe River Float - 02/10/04 02:24 AM
Check this out: http://www.riohaus.com/

It sleeps 8 people. I've emailed her to get specific information on rates and availablility.

I'll see if I can find more...

This Riverview House is a little less expensive than the Rio Haus. They only advertise room for 6 and I wonder if they'd turn us away if we had 8. Do we even have 8 people commited to going?

This Casa Del Guadalupe also sleeps 6 and is a little more expensive than the others I've mentioned.

This Lodge on Lake Dunlop kicks ass! It's nicer and bigger than any of the other ones and is more expensive. They advertise $900 for a two-night weekend with a discount for small groups... like us! If we can get enough interest, I'll call them and see what they say. They provide EVERYTHING and all you need to bring is food and your toothbrush. I'd spring the extra cash to stay here.

This River Retreat sounds almost as good as the one above and will sleep enough people for our group. It's less expensive at $300 per night, but you provide your own linens, etc. It's brand new and has a cool living room and kitchen. This is one of the top five.

This River Lodge is also pretty neat with your own dock. It's closer to Gruene and sits on a large 2.5 acre plot. $300 per night.

I am commited. I need a va-ca!

Posted By: TexasRealtor Re: Guadalupe River Float - 02/10/04 04:19 PM
You don't want to get a place on Lake Dunlap, wrong side of the dam(although that does look like da party pad). You want someplace off River Rd, between Horseshoe Bend and Gruene. If everyone wants a house, I'll hook you up with something nice. I was trying to find someplace with camping and rooms close to Gruene so if people wanted to go to Gruene Hall (oldest dance hall in Texas and started careers of Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and George Strait) one night they wouldn't be very far. What you want is a 4 bedroom, 3 bath house on the river that sleeps about 10. It will probably run about $400 a night. Let me see what is available in June.

Bruce
Posted By: TexasRealtor Re: Guadalupe River Float - 02/10/04 07:31 PM
I got a place! It is a brand new river front 2 bedroom, two bath split level in Gruene right at Gruene crossing. You can walk to Gruene(100yards)and it where all the tubers get out of the river. It is has two decks on different levels, sleeps 8, and has a washer/dryer. There should be no problem sleeping in your car, but tents are strictly prohibited(I'll still find campsites for those interested). It is $400 per night. I know it's kinda small, but guys this IS the party pad and it's location is unbeatable! The weekend of June 11th is still open, but they have already booked Memorial day weekend and all of July, so we need to jump on it if you want it.

I told you... I will split it with someone. No money's changing hands until we get a good count on who's going. So far it's just Kristen and Kelly with their quasi-lesbian antics and Stacy and me who want to get drunk and watch porn. We need more than that, my friend.

I thought there were a couple of guys from Houston who were going? I think one was a research asst. or something. If you can get 8, then that is only $50 a person per night. Motel 6 charges $90 a night for one person during the summer. Was Chris H. going? Stacy and Adam? DasVWbabe and sidekick? Who was wanting to camp?

It's a house, you don't have to worry about sneaking in. There are only enough beds for 8. The bedrooms each sleep two, then ther are two fold out couches upstairs that sleep 4 more. There are two huge decks which you could "camp out" on, and the house is on concrete piers so some people could sleep under the house on the patio area if needed. I'll check on the closest campsites and reserve some for those who don't want to relive Animal House.
Posted By: infuryum_dup1 Re: Guadalupe River Float - 02/11/04 02:18 AM
Like I said before, the youngest person going is 20. I don't think anyone need worry themselves over frat house behavior. We're all adults and I'm sure we can all act like adults while we share living space for two freakin' days.

For all who dont know.

Mushu = Kelly

Chris Hightower = Kellys husband

I'd put us at 80% there. I am working on Chris. We would be camping because:

A. we like it
B. all our $ is going to a different house

My birthday weekend? That way I could kill 2 birds with one stone. My dad lives in San Antonio and my birthday is on fathers day this year. I doubt many peeps would be up for that. Or would they? It might be a slower weekend.

Plus, I am very much loved.

OK, the house option is out( sorry Stacy & Josh) due to lack of interest. The Guadalupe Outpost has already booked all the rooms on the river, but they still have some by the office (100 yards from the river)They have two double beds and a kitchenette and are $98 per night( 2 people, $6 per additional person) . They will hold them for seven days without a deposit. The rooms are under CEG. The number is (830)625-7772.They will hold them until March 1st.

Everyone is too impulsive. I'm sure alot will want to go on June 1st, however you gotta get a pad like the house way in advance. As I found, even the Outpost is booking up fast over 3 months in advance. Even Motel 6 on IH-35 is $89 per night.

You and Josh can still split a room at the Outpost(will hold the rooms until Monday @ 5:00pm), but it looks like we had better try to shoot for sometime in July or August due to the lack of support for the June float. I think it is too close to SZ.

July? Weekend? Weekdays? Let's have some feedback.
Posted By: Ã?ber Evil Mushu! Re: Guadalupe River Float - 02/27/04 09:30 PM
Let me put my $.02 regarding DFW CEG anyway. Everybody always says we need to do something but no one will set a date.
Its always "we should do something"
"Yea, that be great"

We have no follow thru. You have to pick a date and be firm. Say we are doing this, on this date at this place. Not when is it good for everyone? Itâ??s a nice gesture but it will fail with the DFW crew.

I don't know if this trip is DOA or not. Thatâ??s for everyone to decide. Throw a firm date out and see if anyone bites.

Good luck.

Here is the "paying" list so far. Josh has said he would put it in his name, once 7 other people commit to the $100.

1.TR's $100
2.Josh
3.Stacy
4.Isneo
5.Isneo's gal
6.Ray
7.Ray's wife
8.?

Is everyone on this list committed to $100 each. The house is $800 for two days.June 12th weekend is booked already, so I need to find another date. Weekend or a Wednesday/Thursday? Gimme some feedback!

The smiley is working, I belive, because of the way he typed it out..

You referenced it like a link in HTML (<a href=, etc, etc etc)

He referenced it using UBBThreads built in image linking format:i.e.,

[image]www.thisismyimagepage.com/smileys/smiley.gif[/image]
where the address is corrected to point to your smiley..

OR.. you can just click the "image" word, below where you type a post (under the table called "Instant UBB Code"), and then just fill in the location to your smiley..
