I've gone as far as I am willing to go with this car and have decided to part Swazo out. Time is just something I don't have a lot of for these things, and it's time I move on.

Local guys will get first dibs on parts and I'll cut you a break on the price to an extent. Keep an eye out for the ad(s) in the classifieds, there's 30+ choice parts. The more you buy, the better the deal I can give you.

I'll be trolling around like just about every other SW CEG'er

....just as you were getting it tuned....
Posted By: Swazo Re: Swazo is dead - 04/24/06 02:05 PM
This was just the last straw for me With the upcoming move, this isn't something that I want to continue doing. I'd been talking to some CEG'ers on the possibility of selling the car once it was tuned, so parting it out should get me a little more than I was asking for 'er.

The market for these cars are dying, and if I want to be able to get a decent return (not like I'd make ALL my money back...), this is the time I should jump on it.

This is very very sad

Dont give up yet!

Seriously, dont. Youve come too far and are too close to just throw in the towel like that.

In any case, Ill be keeping my eyes out for parts just in case. I dont want to, but I will!
Posted By: ExDelayed_dup1 Re: Swazo is dead - 04/24/06 04:12 PM
You are way too close to have something like this make you part it! Give it a break and then come back to it and finish it. After a while of driving the Escort you will miss Swazo.

But, if you do decide to part it, Ill keep an eye on some goodness.
Posted By: morbid Re: Swazo is dead - 04/24/06 06:28 PM
I agree... don't give up yet. That would be alot of wasted time if it's almost done, right?

On another note... if you decide to part it out, wait until you move here
Posted By: KingpinSVT Re: Swazo is dead - 04/24/06 08:47 PM
I agree with Jon. Sit back, take a break. Youve been going at it a long time and I can understand how youve about had it for now. Take a deep breath, and you may change your mind. I think youre in it too deep now to just give up!

omg i cant believe this!! You need to relax and clear your head. Your prolly going through a standard Contour Owner Mid-life Crisis that all of us have gone through. I wish for the best and especially you keeping you car in the end
Posted By: ExDelayed_dup1 Re: Swazo is dead - 04/25/06 03:39 AM
To let you know how I somewhat understand how you are feeling. After the Contour sat in the driveway, dead, for about six months, I finally looked into what could actually be wrong. Instead of the trans, it looks like all that is gone is the driver's CV shaft. Now with me poking around, I realise how much I actually miss the car. It was the most enjoyable vehicle I have ever owned (handling) which is why I am so excited to get the Cougar on the road. I cant even imagine completely how you would feel with the insane amount of time (and probably blood and new cuss words) that you have put into yours.

Take it out back and cover it up. Let your anger subside and get back to the project after you have had a chance to cool off a little. You dont need to do what I did and end up replacing an enjoyable car because of something stupid, like a CV shaft that can be replaced for free under warranty.

Dont part her out, you will kick yourself for it.

Seriously Daymon...you have nothing to lose by sleeping n it for a while.
Posted By: Swazo Re: Swazo is dead - 04/25/06 02:19 PM
I'm just trying to look at all my options at this point. Selling the car after fixing it or actually parting the car out isn't out of the relm of what I'm considering, but keeping it isn't either.

We'll see what happens...
Posted By: Pudmunkie Re: Swazo is dead - 04/25/06 02:32 PM
Daymon

Did you even figure out what was wrong? Did I miss the post?

Althought I dont have NEARLY that much done to the car, sometimes she'll piss me off. She will feel like a dog on certain days, she'll clunk and rattle on others. However! on those certain days that she performs like a high class hooker it just makes me want to keep her even more!

Investigate whats going on with her, and if its something super simple consider fixing it. Take a short break and come back to it to fix it. You wont get nearly what you put into it back, and I have a feeling you'll miss her later!

Plus I dont get dibs on the trans or the headlights, so you should just keep it

Not yet, I'm waiting on a compression tester to see if I have a dead cylinder or not. I'm leaving it alone until I get it.

If the engine is blown, I'll go ahead and part it out. If it's only the turbo, I'll be fix it and go from there.

The amount of PM's I've been getting is INSANE!
Posted By: Pudmunkie Re: Swazo is dead - 04/26/06 12:53 AM
thats because We <3 swazo. and mayeb you a little bit... just a little bit.

The vultures are circling Swazo?
Posted By: Pudmunkie Re: Swazo is dead - 04/26/06 02:47 AM
Well im going to assume most of the PM's were people telling him to sell it!

As for the vultures, the carcass in classifieds isnt exactly repelling them....
Posted By: Swazo Re: Swazo is dead - 04/26/06 03:02 AM
I may have jumped the gun just a...... ton, but I've been pretty stressed out lately. I'm pretty black and white on many subjects due to sheer volume of crap
Posted By: Pudmunkie Re: Swazo is dead - 04/26/06 03:30 AM
GOOD MAN!

Now come to SZ

I dont have to send PMs cause he already said we got first dibs! Who cares about a line, SW jumps to the front!

Im hoping he has no reason to part it out, actually.

Did I miss something?? What's going on? When did something happen to make you think this?

Remember when Buckshot was going through a similar stage about his cars? He didn't touch his car for a month and slowly came back into it.

He was able to put his attention where he needed while he was on vacation from the car. Now he's back into it and better than before, IMO.

I know what it's like to spend alot of time working on something that never seems to get anywhere. Yet when it all comes out, no matter the investment, I am so proud of what I was able to do with something I love so much. It's a pain in the ass, I know, but it's worth it to stick it out.

And please don't part out an SVT, it is worth saving as a whole. It'd be like parting out the Statue of Liberty to make pennies. Everyone get's a piece but the original glory is lost forever.

I'm betting my 1/2 return line isn't draining fast enough. I have a -4an feed with a restrictor. After reading up on turbomustangs.com, I found a ton of guys that are running T3's with the same problem unless they had a -10an or larger return line.

I had my turbo upgraded to a water cooled center and totally rebuilt for NOTHING! I was going to do another comprssion test only to find that the first plug was covered in oil

Swazo is..... ::sniff, sniff:: DEAD
Posted By: stilov Re: Swazo is dead - 05/16/06 02:21 AM
you sure it isn't coming from the valve cover tube?
Posted By: Swazo Re: Swazo is dead - 05/16/06 02:26 AM
Yes, very sure. That cylinder read 25 or so on the compression tester
Posted By: stilov Re: Swazo is dead - 05/16/06 02:29 AM
d@mn...now I am freaking nervous about my car in the shop for the tune!!! What do I do?
Posted By: Swazo Re: Swazo is dead - 05/16/06 02:42 AM
Thank yourself for springin for forged pistons.
Posted By: stilov Re: Swazo is dead - 05/16/06 02:46 AM
you think it's the pistons? I just don't know man. I am not even in town!!! I am in CO.
Posted By: Swazo Re: Swazo is dead - 05/16/06 02:50 AM
Oh yeah, no doubt about it. I'll be pulling everything starting wednesday.

Pull the baiscs off, drop the subframe and go to town with getting it all ready to sell off.
Posted By: Keyser Soze Re: Swazo is dead - 05/16/06 03:03 AM
Why not try to sell it as a whole?
Posted By: stilov Re: Swazo is dead - 05/16/06 03:06 AM
ok even if it was the piston...why? tuning? boost? rings? not as good of a piston as thought?

Chris are you making an offer?

Daymon...you can have my SVT block for nothing. Just come get it.

I agree, try to sell it as a whole first. Might not take as hard of a hit if the buyer knows he just needs to upgrade pistons.
Posted By: Pudmunkie Re: Swazo is dead - 05/16/06 03:24 AM
Very sorry to hear man. Your PM makes more sense now

I shed a tear for both you and swazo

I'll come out better if I part it out, but I would sell it as is for $8K just to get it out of my sight at this point.
Posted By: Horse_dup1 Re: Swazo is dead - 05/16/06 05:35 AM
well that F^$%ing sucks!
Posted By: Pinebox_dup1 Re: Swazo is dead - 05/16/06 01:19 PM

I can hear "taps" playing in the background now.
Posted By: Swazo Re: Swazo is dead - 05/16/06 03:31 PM
