Hey guys well I have not returned to the contour family yet I'm thinking about it though. Well anyway my brother did join the SVT fam. he bought a EO 98 SVT pure stock. he looked for it that way, he thought the previous owner wouln't beat it up(yeah right) well to his surprise it has turned in to a lemon. So here it goes the last problem we have had on it is the gas tank is leaking, were it connects to the filler hose. the other problems consist on :moon roof slips and it will not open with out a hand to help it, passenger front seat moves forward with lever at lock position, rear bumper craked, and Last but not least it sounds like it spun a crank shaft bearing. So since I put SOOOOOOO much money and time in to my old contour, he has made me his personal mechanic (i really dont mind) i love these cars, I never knew Y i sold mine. anyway. any help on the gas tank would help, we are waiting on his gas tank to run dry he has a full tank and I really don't want to drop a FULL tank of gas.

Thanks for the help in advance, also I really miss the 'tour Fam.

thanks Jose

If its the tank itself that is leaking, let me know. I have a couple of `98+ Contours at work. Ill check tomorrow and make sure that the tank will interchange from a non-SVT, possibly a 4-cyl, which I am pretty sure it will.

Im with Scot with the seat probably not being a big issue. The others, you have me, I have never had a sunroof Contour, Duratec or cracked OE body parts.

I do know where he could get a `03 Escape block for very cheap.

It is the white connector between the hose and the tank.

thanks anyway with the rest.

I know I was gone but I'm trying for a comme back.

The interchange at work doesnt give me any differences in connectors (doesnt do parts that small) but there are two different fuel tanks for a `98. First one is part number 97BB-AD thru AL. The second tank is for vehicles built thru 5/24/99 and carries part number 98BG-AE.

Might make your search for the connector a little easier.

The change is because of the switch from return style fuel system to a retunless style, IIRC

That would make sense with the 97 and 98 part numbers. There is another tank that comes in during the `99 model year but I left it out.

So if this has a fuel return system it will be the first part number?

Thank you for the help guys.

I would say it would be a safe bet. Ill punch some more numbers into the computer tomorrow and see what I find.
