how about the bed bath and beyond/ value city furniture parking lot. Seems like i might be able to make that

i like tanning on my front lawn.

I think its going to be hard to make this as good of a turn out as the EL meet was. But i will contribute, my frosty SVT will be there. Always down for throwing my money away on CEG merchandise anyway.

How about we have a meet again near the middle of the state? It seems they are always on the east side and never the west side.
As it stands now the people on the east side are looking at a really quick drive and those of us on the ewst have about 2.5 hours.

The reason there isn't to many meets over there is becuase theres like 5 people on that side of the state.

We just had one in Lansing

And seeing as the highest concentratio of EGL CEG'ers is in Detroit, it makes sense that most meets will occur down here.

wow, I just mapquested it, and I got 13 directions to get there... not bad for 137 miles. I would love to go, but im pretty sure I cant make it. Ive taken to many saturdays off from work as it is. 2 hours 17 minutes.

I have no problem with that idea, my concern would be out of pocket cost before hand. I'm not sure the place I;'m looking into has a good quality hoodie. So, shoot me some ideas, as I would prefer a hoodie over a T-shirt.

I'm not sure how much quality will really matter. I mean as long as it doesnt come with holes and stains on it i'm sure it'll be fine. As far as out of pocket cost goes... are you saying you might not have enough or you are afraid people are going to do the whole back out last minute thing? We should get it figured out soon though becuase we dont have to much time to waste... meet is coming up pretty quick

Backing out would be what is was getting at, money is really tight ATM so I'm trying not to spend more then I have to.

I want to have the best meet thus far if possible so merchandise was the first thing that came to mind. Either that or BBQ at my house. =)

Light greyish silver or a dark blue(it'll match with my new silver SVT here soon) with black or white lettering (you can choose, whichever is available. Probably a large. Depends though (i guess) some companys make em bigger than they should. I'll say large just to make sure.

If its too big.. I'll eat a 12oz steak then! Let us know ben, I think they'd be a great item. And besides, as long as you don't put something like SE michigan or whatever, you could deffiently sell any extras in a GB quickly that may exist on CEG for more than you'll charge us

As for what you have designed, anyway possible to make the CEG look more like the real CEG. And how about something like the contour symbol on the back? As for expensive, how much is expensive? People would probably pay in excess (those look like pretty high quality hoodies) of 40 bucks or so for some high quality gear.

. I deffinetly dig the dark blue and white lettering. Medium size. If you could get the CEG lettering and a the contour symbol (the one hector had on his, can't remeber its official name) on the back (decently large, i guess) I totatlly be all over that!

Oh, I just did the "get quote" thing. 34.00+ small commision for the organizer for a two sided white emblem (i guess its pretty much any size emblem?)navy blue (min order of 6) zip up Hanes (nice brand!) Thats VERY reasonable. Ofcourse teh more orders, the less it costs. So... c'mon guys, we need at least 6 orders! Count me as 1.

Yes, we plan to have the meet at the Value City parking lot. Then head off to Texas Roadhouse for some grub. I'm going to call ahead for to arrange for some seating.

I'm waiting to hear some more input about the hoodies, as I just found out today I need to look for another job quickly. (they laid off 45% of the work force and fired about 5%)

The neuspeed springs were quite nice, but the ratio of big boxy car + 3850 GVR+ super curvy roads- manual trans= tons of body roll and blah blah blah . These Pirellis are really good, I'd personally think about getting a set on my CSVT here soon.

As far as the hoodies, 40 bucks is cool.. You'd pay that much for a gay looking OCC one from target.

Yes, and I plan to put flyers in some SVT's I see around my city this weekend. So, hopefully more will be coming.

I'll give it till this Friday for orders on the hoodies. If we don't reach the 6 people we need, I'll try doing a Michigan GB buy, so we can try to get are lower MI people covered up.

IM in for a hoodie... Good news for today though... My mechanic took the car for a drive, and noted that the ticking noise was coming from the back... Right when I hear this I have a BIG sigh of relief. We get back to the shop, he takes one look at the back right tire, and goes... theres the problem, and there was a finnishing nail head flush with the tire, almost looked like a big stone. So I feel REALLY good about it, Went to Northwest tire and paid 13$ for a tire patch... Feel great about it, all I need is get saturday off and I should be home free to make it to Taylor

Now... the hard part is trying to get saturday off.

Want me to call your boss and explain how this is so much more important for your job? =) No, really I can persuede people.

its looking good for me, I will probibly be down there on the 20th. I put in a request on Tuesday for the 14th 18th and 19th off. But forgot to ask for the 20th, so yesterday I went in and put another request in to folder (it usualy gets cleaned out and its basically to late after tuesday). The folder was stuck in the back of the drawer. And my first request was still in it. SO chances are I will get the 20th off.

I just order some parts that I hope to get before the meet, but there all interior things. (Cougar cup holder the nice big one). Front passenger turn signal housing with mounting screw. The screw to hold the sterring column pieces together.

SE/SVT side skirts

man I would love to get myself an SVT rear bumper and SVT skirts... Ive seen some Pre98's with that setup, and they look bad ass. But the thing I couldnt afford is painting the parts... I think I could paint the skirts myself, but the bumper would be a different story. So im just going to stick with some SE skirts, I think they will look bad ass with my E1 rims.

Might be able to get by with the Maaco ambassador paint sale. I think it's $299.

I wouldn't mind some SE skirts to start. There was a guy selling them for $90 on here I think.

Macco isnt my first choice for painters, but if im just painting a body kit, or some side skirts im gonna check them out.

don't do it. i had them paint a bumper cover for my truck a few years ago. the paint cracked within a week. spider webs everywhere.

I guess they weren't asked to use flex paint. There is such a thing and it's best used in these colder climates.

The ones in the front will be fine. If you got a second set to put on the rear sills, they will be too long. I guess you could trim them if you wanted to.

(2) days left....I'm going to print out some "flyers" and put them on some of the SE/SVT Contours I've seen around here.

What should I put to make people think about coming. Something catchy.....

does anyone going to the meet have a stock radio/cd player that they would sell for cheap?
i have an aftermarket that i want to keep if i were to sell the car later (the 05 mustang is tempting) and i'm trying to find a stock one to put back in if that day were to come.

i figure i'd try here first before i go to junkyard.

I might be one of the few who still has the original radio (AM/FM cassette) still hooked up, but I don't have the tools to remove it

You can just use a metal cloths hanger or go to miejer and schoesh sells the actual things to use. The hanger works just fine though. Thats what i used

I still have my Stock AM/FM cassette chillin in my basement, I had a wierd problem with it though, the Right speakers kept on cutting in and out on short intervals when using the cassette desk, but at no other time.

My mods will include scavaging through rawburts garbage can for the neons he is taking off. then I'll be putting them on the VW....:D

Nah... but I'm getting the 2 foot by 2 foot dent in my rear passenger door knocked out tommorow from a little kid who rode their bike into my VW.

Does that count as a mod?? Luckily, no damage to the paint and my dent guy said it will be a flawless fix. So... oh well. Shiznit happenes.

Other mods, just a wash and wax.

Haha... well they are LED's and the box blew up that turned them on and off. I know i can rig them up to a switch or something but then they wont blink or so any of those crazy things. No big loss anyway they were only 10 bucks!

thanks for the replies on the radio player. i'll pass up on the cassette player that's too outdated for me.. and i'm going to wait for a working cd player.. cause if i have to sell the car i'd want to sell with a working player, or i might keep the car as my daily so...

speaking of mods, i just did the 'squeaky rear suspension' fix with waterproof grease on the bushings.. worked like a charm and only took a couple minutes since it was my 3rd time doing it.. (1st 2 times i just used vaseline.. does not work for this purpose)

i am driving around with clouded headlights cause i tried to ger rid of the hazing, and used 2000 grit sandpaper to sand.. i couldn't find meguire's plastx anywhere to finish the job.. so i still see the swirl marks and scratches... doh!

Armor All Wheel cleaner is what I use. I found it in my garage when I bought my SVT rims. When I got the rims there were dirty as hell. So I spent about an hour going over all of them with this cleaner, now they all look almost new. Pick up a bottle of Armor all, cant go wrong with it.

if you wash the brake dust off and it leaves the rusty goldish residue some cleaner wax and a strong elbow will get rid of that. gets to rubbin! the stranger doesnt work in this application tho.

My front passenger speaker is the only one that works regularly

I will most likely wash mine when I get out there. Any places that I can wash mine near the meet? Well if it does rain I might not have to wash it at all.

There are 2 places right near the meet. One north of our meeting spot about 1/4 mile, and another about 1 mile north of the local. Both on Telegraph rd.

You already have a Zetec, hold out for a Duratec. That way you can have basic GL transportation, and modded V6 fun. Kinda like changing from winter tires to summer ones.

Well, I'll still be there with my 128,XXX mile car. Won't have new tires yet

Thank god I finally got a new set of wiper blades today though!! And i even replaced the antenna, even though I don't listen to the radio much---but its good to have that option available. The best news is that I have a set of new headlights coming, so I'll be able to see the road in the dark--what a concept that would be!! I'll seriously need help installing them, though!!

I wish, I had more "experienced" folks attending our meet. It's either bad timing on my part, or folks just won't/can't come to this meet for whatever reason. I'm kinda feeling sorry that those that are coming out can't enjoy the experience a larger meet can provide. I think I'll plan another meet for around Febuary, March. I'll look for some sponsors so it can be a mid-large event calling out alot more [Contour] enthusiasts. All in all, I'd like to get to know the people attending a little better. Maybe we can plan some car mods, work together....

Thanks everyone that showed up it was a far greater turn out then what I though it would be. Nice meeting some new faces, and talking to some of the "veteran" contour enthusiast. Hope evryone had a good time, and yes it was nice to see that 3.0L almost attempt a roll over....but the ambulance that followed was priceless.....

Robert, thanks for the stock speakers, it is so nice to have 4 working speakers. I ran home and put them in, well 3 of them at least. Couldn't get that damn screw cover off the passenger side door where it meets the window.

Next meet will include some drag race time, raffle, and some prizes for best mod, look, and sound.

*knocks on wood* I got home at 5:20... and left for work 20 minutes later... You all have no idea how tired I am. a total of 5 hours on the road, and 5 hours of work. Anyways, good meet turnout, I honestly expected that it would only be like 4 or 5 cars... But im relieved that I didnt drive for 2 and a half hours both way to have 4 or 5 people show up... That would have been mega lame. I forgot who is was that had the 3l tour... but might I say.. DAMN nice, expecially the peel you layed when leaving, those where some nice marks you left. And Rawburt, I need your shipping address and I will send that shift boot out to you asap. Sorry about not bringing it down, now all I have to do is find it. My mom cleans this damn place so much and never knows where she puts stuff everything of mine always gets lost and I have to spend an hour digging thourgh the house looking for it.

HURRAY FOR PRIZES AT THE NEXT MEET! (wont win anything). As for my peel out at the end, that sucked. I could have done better.

Hello all. I had a great time at the meet. Sorry we were a little late but the rides needed their baths and got all dirty from the ride. Thanks WRXBarge (spelling) for making your own search party. I saw you cruise by when we were at the car wash. I enjoyed the fact that everyone was so nice the whole time. Props to BenS for hosting this meet, I wish some of the other guys from the last meet would have made it to yours. Lunch was great, I have never been there before but have it on my list of places to go if I find myself hungry while in MI. It was great getting to know everyone and putting rides and screen names to real names and faces.

I liked all the cars that showed up at the meet. I have seen so many cars gather for meets before and I always just drove on by. This was officially my first meet. I could not get over the gun metal and black rims, very pretty looking things. The choice of tire and tread patterns go great with the rims too. I wish some of the turbo charged one's would have showed up. That would have been nice. I haven't gone through all the pictures yet but there a good number of them and I will hopefully have them up soon. I am the one that filmed the red contour with the SVT exhaust and recently bought rims and tires package. I saw your post earlier but also forgot the name sorry. PM me when you get a chance.

Well again had a great time getting to meet everyone and our lunch table was a lot of fun as well. Thanks for everything everyone. Wa2tuff and BMXcontour were fun to ride with on the way and back. I really hope that we can get a meet in Cleveland going on sometime in the Spring and get a good turnout with people from this meet and more.

Nah, I try to stand firm when It comes to being fair and just. But to argue like two drunk Taylor hillbillies is just plain assnine.

There plently of empty boards on the net because of out of control flame wars and I personally like these boards and any "beef" between members should be held elsewhere. All people are doing is showing others how irrespondable we can be. I don't take sides unless I feel something just isn't right.

(These stock speakers that were donated sound better then the stock GL speakers I had.)

Those speakers that (i think it was rawburt) you got are the premium speakers fro mhis SVT. They are a little better quality than the stockers, especially from a 96. Not that there is much more premium about them, though.

Oh, I know there is a junkyard here called harry and sons, they have a couple new cougars sittin in their yard. Saw them two weeks ago. Smashed up badly. The yard is on Groesbeck and 10 mile road in Warren, MI

I swear I need to move from here. Everything I need/want is nowhere near here. Maybe I'll take a trip up there unless you can swing in to confirm they have the piece, or take a pic of it PM me and I'll pay ya to send it to me...

I'm sorry I never had the intention of building a faster car. I guess some of the general population are just trying to preserve the cars condition rather then speed it up. So, I guess your statement would be true in your case. Maybe we'll get to see that quick 'Tour at another meet. It would be nice to see the hard work being put into these beautiful cars.

Not bad mouthing the EL meet. There was some amzing cars there. It just seemed like the Taylor meet was so good because everyone was so laid back and nice. It was a really good group of people.

Consider this the show and, no go meet then. I guess were glad we had those that we did at this meet. So, in closing we had a great meet with plently of comradery. It was exactly what we needed. Though if any of us want more go, we'll know who to contact.
