woke up this morning to find my car broken into.

sub and Amp are gone as well as my brand new Passport 8500 X50 Radar Detector I got 3 days ago!

The [censored] bustem my grill off, popped the hood and cut entriely through the wiring harness (so the car is undriveable), they also stole the stalk off my antenna, the display from my turbotimer and even cut one of my mufflers off and stole the gearknob.

I can't believe this.

I hate appartments!

No I''m worried they'll come back to steal my bike or my wheels as they stole the wheel lock.

So I'm getting it towed out of here.

apartments suck. That is ultra [censored] news.
Posted By: amarv12_dup1 Re: So pissed off... - 08/01/04 06:54 PM
[censored] bastards!

Like they stole one of your mufflers, goddamn MFers.

My sister's car got broken into in sterling heights some time back. They stole all of her school stuff about a week before final exams; including books.

I fuggin hate theives.

I feel for you man, i hope insurance takes care of you as much as possible.

Stazi, I'm sorry to hear about this happening to your car hopefully you catch the bastards that did this. You should really look into getting what I call the engergizer siren basically what happens is when the wires are cut the siren keeps goign off and the only way to shut it off is with the special key that comes with the siren. I hope this experience doesn't hinder you from taking your car out anywhere.

holy crap man that sucks! i am sorry to hear about your car. nobody saw or heard any of this going on?
Posted By: Stazi Re: So pissed off... - 08/01/04 11:30 PM
We saw a strange car parked next to it last night when we got back from the bar, but didn't think too much of it as the nature of apt's is that you see different cars all the time, but now looking back i bet it was the car that belonged to the thieves and they used it as a screen while they busted in and stole my stuff.

I'm going to ask the people downstairs if they remember the type of car it was.i want to say it was a Black Maxima, but I don't remember for sure. All i know is that if I see someone in Ann Arbor cruising with my muffler on there car I will drag them out of the car and beat the ever loving crap out of them.

My 60 CD's are gone and insurance doesn't cover them - fugg I don't wat to think about it anymore, it makes me ill.

Sounds like a good excuse to get an iPod!

At least they didn't steal the car! Sucks a lot though... sorry to hear about it!

(I lost not one, but THREE stereos out of my contour... i think they're bad luck!)
Posted By: rkneeshaw Re: So pissed off... - 08/02/04 02:39 AM
NO WAY! That sucks monster big kong shlong! Sorry to hear the news staz, I'd be flaming pissed!
Posted By: SVTMike_dup1 Re: So pissed off... - 08/02/04 02:46 AM
Damn Stazi thats [censored]. I wasn't supprised when my car got robbed in Detroit, but Ann Arbor is usually pretty good. Hope your insurance hooks it up.
Posted By: todras_dup1 Re: So pissed off... - 08/02/04 03:07 AM
It feels like you've been raped! You're homeowners covers CD's so you should be fine. It's so hard replacing them anyway. How could they cut a muffler off in the middle of the night!?
Posted By: silversvtE1 Re: So pissed off... - 08/02/04 05:01 AM
Holy crap dude! That is the worst news I've heard lately. I'm sorry to hear about it. What part of Ann Arbor is this apartment in?? Hopefully you'll get a tip on who did it and can get some sort of justice. Maybe I can help somehow when I get to town. Keep me posted.
Posted By: Stazi Re: So pissed off... - 08/02/04 10:59 AM
Chuck irt was at the Windemere Appts' on Green St. SO I was shocked too.

Todd, State Farm says it wan't cover my CD's. If they were stolen out of my house yes, but apparently out of my car, no. That's just crap!

I hid my bike last night as I was scared they'd come back for it. I just hope they didn't go looking for my car to seal the wheel's off it, last night. But I had it in a secured compound that was being watched by 24 hour security.

Either way I feel violated and now I have to prove to my insurance all the mods that were in the car. That's going to be fun seeing as ALL of my stuff is buried in storage!
Posted By: Judge_dup1 Re: So pissed off... - 08/02/04 11:09 AM
all you need are the pictures you have of your car....prolly will not even need receipts...just show them it was done.....
Posted By: Sharkey_dup1 Re: So pissed off... - 08/02/04 12:09 PM
That blows buddy. When Todras and I were over last time, I actually removed my LCD monitor for that exact reason. I don't trust apt's. Some jerk broke into my Z the other day, and stole my Greddy twin turbo setup.....

Sorry to hear it man.

That's a lie! So not true. Ask anyone. Ask them what covers them then!

yea...its too bad they took your Greddy Profec E-01 boost controller....was your laptop missing as well?

Unfortunately Todd, it is true with State Farm... When my car got broken into those three times at Dover Hills, All my CDs were not covered, even under homeowners. Unless the CDs were in the place of residence, it is not covered.

Stazi, I know how you feel. Gaddam frickin theives suck... That is why I had to move to a duplex with a garage. That way, they have to break in, you hear it, and pull out your 357.
Posted By: SVTMike_dup1 Re: So pissed off... - 08/02/04 02:44 PM
My friend had his car robbed about a year ago and the insurance gave him the cost of some blank CDs; they wouldn't cover the cost of the music on the CDs.

Most companies would cover them under your homeowner policy, Though, not all will. You can add them to your auto policy with something called media coverage. Everything else is covered but the radar as far as I know. As long as you have pictures of everything you should be fine. That is horrible though!!!! Sorry to hear it man, I hope the insurance company comes through for ya.
Posted By: Stazi Re: So pissed off... - 08/02/04 03:30 PM
Radar detector will be covered under the Home-Owners Ins.

Latest info:
The dealer called and said they don't want to touch it - even the wiring harness and smashed window. I'm so pissed!

They suggest I take it to an "SVT Contour specialist" someone who knows about the Turbos on those cars. I laughed and told him it wasn't a factory option.

Moral of stpry so far: No wonder I hate Ford Dealers!

They should be able to replace the engine harness. You'll have to resplice everything it sounds. Wouldn't want them to do it anyway. Guess you'll have to call a glass place even though Ford can do it with OEM glass.
Posted By: Judge_dup1 Re: So pissed off... - 08/02/04 05:11 PM
Get it to Village Ford if you can...they are an SVT dealer...and I know (not on good terms) some of their mechanics...they are some of the best around....
Posted By: Stazi Re: So pissed off... - 08/02/04 05:15 PM
Yeah, I NEED someone competant to fix my car. You'd think I asked them to do a V8 RWD conversion or something. All it needs is a new rear window, new engine harness from the connector to the fuse box and some other wires under the trunk replaced.

The exhaust, turbo timer, shift light and stereo etc. I can take care of.

I just need the [censored] to fix the harness!

I feel nauseous thinking about all of this.
Posted By: silversvtE1 Re: So pissed off... - 08/02/04 05:23 PM
I wouldn't expect that kind of activity on Green Street....although, it is on the East side of town. Are there any video security cameras there? Or even anywhere in there area that maybe would have caught something. Even if they were down the street you might be able to identify the make of a vehicle or even some clue that might help out.
Posted By: izzodesh Re: So pissed off... - 08/02/04 06:20 PM
dam dude sorry abotu all your problems going down with ur car..
wish you best of luck!
hope you catch those [censored] and own them!
Posted By: Livinsvt_dup1 Re: So pissed off... - 08/02/04 06:42 PM
Sucks to here Stazi, but to be honest I bet your going to have a hard time finding a dealer to mess with the harness. To be realy honest I don't blame them. When I was a tech at a dealer,I wouldn't have touched it, niether would have anyone else. Just cause the turbo and all the other stuff wired, it would be a pain in the ass having to work around that turdbo and any potential issues that could arouse. Something always does, and I mean always.
Posted By: Stazi Re: So pissed off... - 08/02/04 08:08 PM
OK, so now I am taking the car to Gentiles in Shelby Twp. Yep, 60 miles away so it can be fixed by someone who knows the ass from a hole in the ground.

The harness will either be respliced back together again or replaced. If it is respliced it might be easier. I would do it myself but I'm not authorsied under State Farm's eyes, to do so.
Posted By: BiggsvT28 Re: So pissed off... - 08/02/04 08:24 PM
I'm real sorry to hear this Stazi, I can't imagine what it must feel like to finally get the car where you want it then go through this. Best of luck
Posted By: chongo Re: So pissed off... - 08/02/04 10:52 PM
Stazi that sucks.
1 question I have is, why did they cut up the engine wiring harness? Did they take something from the engine bay?

Good luck with the repairs!
Even up here State Farm sucks!!! Expensive as hell and limited payout on claims.
A buddy of mine used to write for them , but he would never sell me a policy...
Posted By: Stazi Re: So pissed off... - 08/02/04 11:40 PM
My thought is that they cut through the harnes (after they ripped out every fuse and relay form the fuse baox) because they wanted to kill the PATS light which they probably thought was an alarm.

Nothing from the engine bay was taken.
Posted By: beyondloadedSE_dup1 Re: So pissed off... - 08/03/04 12:10 AM
man that totally blows. Im surprised my contour didnt get broken into at my apartment complex for the last 9 months i was living in MI. The only thing that got stolen was the wheel caps off the tires, but apparently so did everyone elses in the parking lot. Thankfully, my parking spot was on the very end of the row and was pretty out in the open and not secluded. Hope everything works out for the best.
Posted By: Harrry Re: So pissed off... - 08/03/04 02:06 AM
Sorry bro i didn't know it was that bad? You mention it got hacked into, but man i'm really sorry! hey I hope the insurance takes care of you properly and everything works out. Good luck!!
Posted By: janostak Re: So pissed off... - 08/03/04 02:38 AM
Man that sucks bad!! At least we can still look foward to seeing your car at meets once it is fixed back up.
Posted By: MapOfTaziFoSho Re: So pissed off... - 08/03/04 03:43 AM
FCUKERS! That is scary tho. I dated a girl from A2 and I parked my car in the most random lots.

Stazi what appt. complex was this? Was it near campus or out by Saline rd? That is BS that your insurance comp says that you are not suitable to do the harness when a dealer won't even touch the thing. Morons.

This friday if you wanna go to kenny's to drink it off, I'd be willing to drive. PM me.
Posted By: wa2tuff Re: So pissed off... - 08/03/04 06:06 AM
With all the random crap they did, it almost sounds like someone had it in for you. Who the hell steals A muffler and how do you get it off a lowered car in the middle of the night?

Now I'm fukced as the tow truck co. wants $85 an hour at 4 hours to have it flatbedded from AA to Shelby Twp...all out of my pocket. I wish they had stolen the damn thing and burnt it now.

[censored] insurance companies and dealers alike.

Does anyone have a truck I could use to rent a dolly with from U-Haul and tow it up there myself?

Please contact me ASAP...

PS. I hope those theives are involved in a traffic accident and get head injuries and blead to death on the side of the road.
Posted By: Judge_dup1 Re: So pissed off... - 08/03/04 01:21 PM
Call the insurance company and tell them WTF is going on. This should not be out of your pocket, the dealer refuses to work on your car so tell it to the ins company.

Word. Roadside covers that shiz.

My AAA roadside only covers 5 miles worth of towing. How about that? Now how often are you within 5 miles of a shop in Northern Michigan?
Posted By: BiggsvT28 Re: So pissed off... - 08/03/04 03:22 PM
If you can wait for the weekend I MIGHT be able to lend my truck and enclosed trailer.

Get Premium coverage for like $40 more. It covers up to 100 miles.

Yeah, too bad I didn't have the coverage when I broke down in OH. $600+ to get towed back to GR from OH, somewhere on the turnpike. But, it has helped me since and has paid for itself countless times over.

start a AAA membership. tows 100 miles, i think three or two times a year. we have two vehicles on it and its reasonably priced. also you get discounts at hotels, vacations, free maps and just cool [censored]. just gotta use it. we saved like 3000 on our family cruise with it. just start the membership and use it right away. just an idea. good luck

This might be a bit late, but i would have just changed the wheel locks and put the car back out with a camera on it to see if they come back for the wheels and catch them.
Posted By: Wien_Sean Re: So pissed off... - 08/04/04 01:28 AM
Damn dude that really sucks. I know how you feel, my 95 has been hit 7 times since I got it in October. After getting the car ready as I could with bondo and primer for SZ, when I got home a few weeks later someone put two dents in one of my bondo'ed and primered 1/4 panels. Another person hit my rear bumper and another broke my window. Plus I keep finding K-Swiss shoe marks on my car, on the hood, trunk, and sun roof! And I live in a town where the worst thing that happens is lawn mowers are stolen. Hope it all get fixed soon man!
Posted By: Zoomin 3L Re: So pissed off... - 08/04/04 02:11 AM

They stole a muffler, antenna, gearknob and wheel locks(among other items)? Sounds to me like they had something specific in mind (and I would go over your engine compartment very carefully too, because I can't imagine if they were stealing those other things that they simply cut up your wiring harness for fun, unless it was someone that had a grudge at you). Sounds to me like they needed those specific parts, like they own a contour/mystique. I would definitely tell the police you think this when you file the report. It could help narrow their search.
Posted By: Judge_dup1 Re: So pissed off... - 08/04/04 01:22 PM
they cut the harness because they are amateurs..they think his car has an alarm...but they could not find the "brain" or wiring for it..so they removed the main wires thinking it would kill power to the car....not realizing the battery is in his trunk....and main power to an alarm is always doubled...one extremely hidden and one not so hidden....so the one you think is right is not right....

They were dirtbag kids after parts to mod there rice burner - I'm almost sure of this. The dumbasses didn't really know what they were stealing as far as the turbo timer and shift laight part as they didn't take the main "brain" for each of these parts.

The muffler theft alone pints me to think it was young kids. I mean who the hell steals an N1 style muffler?

The antenna stalk only fits a S2000 style base, I don't know what they'll do with it, but seeing as it was easy to remove they took it.

Judge is right they cut the harness to kill an alarm they htought my car had - they saw the light form the PATS system flashing, is my guess.
Posted By: Davo Re: So pissed off... - 08/04/04 03:00 PM
[censored] A, Stazi, that sucks. I hope you find these [censored] and either get your car parts back or a few testicles.
Posted By: Kremithefrog Re: So pissed off... - 08/04/04 04:09 PM
That sucks that happened to you Stazi. I hope you can get it all fixed pretty soon. But why don't you have an alarm? I know an alarm isn't the greatest thing and doesn't usually do a whole lot, but if someone had broke my window or managed to get my hood open, the alarm would go off and maybe someone would notice or the thieves get scared. Once you get it all fixed, maybe you should think about getting an alarm so something like that doesn't happen as easily again.

It's a AAA Plus membership. Then use it right away. You get 4 uses per year. I've not used mine for a couple of years and now I've used it twice in the past month and a half. Last time, my car was flat bedded from Ohio TP exit 5, about 70 miles from home (bad gas). Cost me zero. Just make sure they have some boards to use as ramps if your car is lowered.
