Alright, I was talking to Chris (tour96se) and we both agreed it would be pretty sweet if we did a big meet with the people from PA, NY and anyone else who wants to come!

Is anyone else interested in this??

If people are interested we'll have to come up with a "central" meeting place.
Posted By: LUCA_dup1 Re: Big meet... - 04/03/05 02:17 AM
Oh sure, you New Yorker's finally want to include us. LOL! j/k

I'd be up for a "big meet".
Posted By: DanMyers Re: Big meet... - 04/03/05 02:26 AM
Um, I'm pretty down with that, just give me a date and a place and I'll try my hardest to be there.

Just let me know!

Dan, Where are you located??
Posted By: DanMyers Re: Big meet... - 04/03/05 03:06 AM
Unfortunately, in Tunkhannock, PA. It's in the small county called Wyoming, closest decent sized city near me is Scranton, but I'll drive to a meet wherever it is...hell, I love this car, if you guys wanna meet in California, I'll do it. haha
Posted By: Pre98 Re: Big meet... - 04/03/05 03:14 AM
Pre98 is definately in.
Posted By: 96 M edition Re: Big meet... - 04/03/05 03:17 AM
you guys no i'm down....to be somewhat "centrally located" it would have to be somewere around scranton/wilkesbarre...but i'm willing to travel a little farther south...
Posted By: DanMyers Re: Big meet... - 04/03/05 03:23 AM
Scranton is 13 miles from my house, if you want to meet there, we could do that, and I would be very able to come to that, also I could drive further south, still not a problem, the turnpike is an amazing thing. Also, there is someone with a silver frost SVT driving around Tunkhannock, he could already be a CEG'er, but I don't think so, if I ever see him stopped again, I might be able to get him to come down. Just give me a date and a place like I said so I can take work off that day and have enough gas money to get there.

dan...sorry to tell ya but your turnpike sucks......its expensive and the road is in horrible condition..and that was before this winter....
Posted By: DanMyers Re: Big meet... - 04/03/05 06:35 PM
Haha, yeah, you're right about both of those things, but I recently went to my brothers college, and it was about as bad as it usually is, winter surprisingly didn't do too much to it. Plus, I prefer the turnpike to the highways...on the way back I got stuck in a construction zone on I-78 that's been there for at least two years, an hour of stop and go traffic and idiots merging into one lane, and then idiots doing 5 miles an hour in one lane, at least you don't get stuff like that on the turnpike. I just meant it was a wonderful thing 'cause I can get pretty much anywhere quickly on it without wasting a lot of miles switching from highway to highway, and that's cool to me.

Welcome to the CEG Dan!

Posted By: DanMyers Re: Big meet... - 04/03/05 07:25 PM
Thanks, hopefully someone will set a date for this meet so I can really be part of it....and maybe get some ideas for some mods.
Posted By: the_spy_guy Re: Big meet... - 04/03/05 11:29 PM
no sundays!
Posted By: LUCA_dup1 Re: Big meet... - 04/03/05 11:36 PM
Are we looking to do this in April? Or May?
If we can narrow down the month we can then work on the date.
Posted By: 96 M edition Re: Big meet... - 04/04/05 12:55 AM
i was thinking april...since we have sz in may and carlisle in june...of course the weather is always a mystery this time of year...
Posted By: 99Mystique ATX Re: Big meet... - 04/04/05 01:26 AM
Some time in April sounds good to me...
Posted By: DanMyers Re: Big meet... - 04/04/05 01:37 AM
April is fine with me, so long as I have time to take work off, and I work every saturday, so if it's not gonna be a sunday, then I'll have to take the day off. Also, if you're looking for potential places to hold it in Scranton/Wilkes Barre, I don't know what you're looking for, but Nayaug park in Scranton is easy to find, has a couple decent sized parking lots, and they are usually empty.
Posted By: Matt R_dup1 Re: Big meet... - 04/04/05 01:38 AM
I'm down wit it.
Posted By: 96 M edition Re: Big meet... - 04/04/05 01:59 AM
alright fellas we are almost there... so far we've got april,no weekends, and scranton/wilksbarre area.......anyone wanna pick a date?
Posted By: DanMyers Re: Big meet... - 04/04/05 02:02 AM
I'm not that brave, but don't count saturday's off on account of me, I can take saturdays off, if all else fails, I'll get someone else to cover for me, or call off "sick", I'm not vital to Eckerd's survival, I promise.
Posted By: LUCA_dup1 Re: Big meet... - 04/04/05 02:16 AM
I can do the 16th or the 23rd. Kinda leaning toward the 23rd, but I'm flexible.
The 30th is out for me as it's the date of the Lancaster car show.
Posted By: DanMyers Re: Big meet... - 04/04/05 02:17 AM
Both of those dates are fine with me.

The 16th works for me too.
Hopefully I will have the SVT put back together by then. TB and MAF are off to be powder coated. Time to get the summer wheels/tires back on.
Brian (checker's SVT) might be joining us depending on his schedule.
Now to decide where? Scranton/Wilkes Barre area?

Brett...are you near anyone that can bring you to the meet?

So the 16th it is then? What are you looking for in a place to meet? Like I said, I live really close to Scranton and not too too far away from Wilkes Barre, so give me some details of what you are looking for in a meeting place and I'll go up and check it out. I have a friend who has a '96 Mystique with about 40 or 50K on it, and I think he might come up too.

Doug, what are you buying now?

They're working on Route 78W so you can expect one lane traffic and delays if we go to Harrisburg.
Come to Bethlehem and then I won't have to travel.

So, where shall we meet and what time?

LOL, okay...

Strut tower brace (front) and battery tie down, both red. Going to go well with my t-red TB. I suggest we meet at the lancaster mall, Park City. We should meet on the side closest to the ford dealership. Big parking lot and the back is never crowded. Meet up there then roll in as a group =)

Doug are you coming to this meet? And don't say that your SVT won't be put back together by then, we know that you have another tour sitting around just waiting to be driven.

is it this weekend or next weekend?

If its this one I won't be able to get a ride home. My dad took my old contour to erie to see his folks. So I have one partially disassembled contour sitting in my driveway and my dad has the other one. Too bad i'm 150 miles away home. You guys should come to state college

My body work may be taken care of in time for the meet, too.

Just a little sprucing up of the original paint, nothing special

I'm hoping that my parts are in on time!! I haven't heard anything yet. As long as they are in the mail by Tueday all should be fine.
I'll have a non-SVT grille on the car though.
Summer wheels will be on by then also.
Since you have off John, I will hold on to the Ford emblem for you and bring it to the meet.

LOL! Only if you can figure out how to start it.

Has anyone decided on where we will be meeting?
Posted By: DanMyers Re: Big meet... - 04/10/05 12:27 AM
Well, if we are meeting in Scranton/Wilkes Barre area, I'll still be able to go, but my employer decided to be an (Explitive Deleted) and is still making me work 4-8 even though I asked for the 16th off, so if it's Scranton/Wilkes Barre, I'll be able to come until about 2 or 2:30 in the afternoon, but any further than that and I'm out, just not worth the gas to drive far and only stay for an hour or so.

I see that there hasn't been anything decided yet on the BIG MEET. If you guys are doing Scranton/Wilkes Barre, there is a nice park up that way where a SHO meet was held a couple of years back. I belive it was Lackawanna State Park - approximately MM 201 on 81 - shortly after you get off the Turnpike onto 81 for those 'reg-lars' from down here. We also had quite a few folks from New York and Mass come down to that meet.

This is probably very short notice to get everyone bringing food for a Spring pick-a-nick but they have the cookout grills and there's a lake as well. Not sure if the bathrooms would be open yet tho.

In the alternative there's a Texas Roadhouse in Dickson City.

Terri
Posted By: DanMyers Re: Big meet... - 04/10/05 09:37 PM
Lackawanna State Park is a good idea, it has ample parking space, and is beautiful, I was just there wednesday, and the bathrooms weren't open yet though, other than that, it's a perfect spot.

Don't be such a [censored] and just bring it.
I haven't checked my schedule yet to know if I'm off - I'll let you know.

I can't drive both at once!!! So I offered the mustang to LUCA becasue their contour is apart! Did you forget this is a CONTOUR SITE!!! Are you bringing the cobra to this meet???

Um, possibly. Depends on whether it's running by then! Now, which set of ultra-secret wheels should I throw on it for the weekend...

Oh oh I know!!

Lemme answer!

Um, no you don't! I ordered more since I talked to you.

Thanks Terri. I think we should try to get the SHO guys/gals involved as well... Might be too late to make it happen but a few might show if you suggest it...

Hey Terri! Long time no talk to/see.
Texas Roadhouse is fine as is the park. Is there some kind of shelter in case of rain at the park?
John, you still didn't get the wheels that you ordered last year??? What up with that?
Posted By: DanMyers Re: Big meet... - 04/12/05 01:48 AM
So uhh...anyone figure out a place to meet yet?
Posted By: 99Mystique ATX Re: Big meet... - 04/12/05 01:53 AM
Yea, we need to figure this out, as it is THIS saturday... I still gotta find someone to switch hours with me so I can go.
Posted By: Korfu Re: Big meet... - 04/12/05 02:51 AM
I nomiate Alfred NY and the Hot dog week celebration. There will be a parade... And beer. And an occasional hot dog or two. LOL j/k. But depending how far it is i still want to go.
Posted By: 96 M edition Re: Big meet... - 04/12/05 05:19 PM
the texas whore house sounds good to me...j/k thats roadhouse...
Posted By: DanMyers Re: Big meet... - 04/12/05 07:22 PM
Wherever you guys wanna go, I'm just saying I don't know if Texas Roadhouse would appreciate a bunch of people loitering in their parking lot, whereas the park is a place to loiter.
Posted By: 96 M edition Re: Big meet... - 04/12/05 08:20 PM
the park it is...i dont know...noone else seems to say anything....
Posted By: LUCA_dup1 Re: Big meet... - 04/12/05 10:15 PM
We've had meets at the Texas Roadhouse before (in Reading), no one minded us hanging out. Of course we did go in and get something for lunch. We are planning on doing lunch??
How about we meet at the Roadhouse at 11/11:30?
I would need directions as mapquest can't find 4011 Commerce Blvd in Dickson City. Taking either Route 80 or the TP.
Posted By: DanMyers Re: Big meet... - 04/12/05 10:34 PM
Alright, we can go there if you want, I was just saying 'cause I've gotten kicked out of many parking lots in Dickson City for loitering, even after going in and buying something. The usual is after eating me and my friends stand around and play hackey sack and a cop comes up and tells us to leave, it's just no fun.
Posted By: LUCA_dup1 Re: Big meet... - 04/12/05 10:45 PM
Yeah true, most places don't like loitering even though you just ate at their establishment.
I'll give them a quick call and check with them. This way they know we're coming and maybe they'll be a bit nicer to us.
Posted By: 99Mystique ATX Re: Big meet... - 04/12/05 10:50 PM
11/11:30 sounds good to me as i've gotta be back for a date later in the evening...

I put in my dash clock today with the help of Brad (the_spy_guy) and it is HOT! Much better than the blank plate.
Posted By: DanMyers Re: Big meet... - 04/12/05 11:19 PM
11/11:30 sounds fine, I should be up and around by then, and calling ahead is a good idea, it might just be because my friends and I were standing in a parking lot (albiet an empty place where no cars were driving or parked) playing hackey sack, and probably looked suspicious.
Posted By: Pre98 Re: Big meet... - 04/13/05 02:30 AM
Hex it for me, I cant make that time. I have class till 1 and my instructor is being extra anal about attendance Given about an 1.5 hr drive, noone's gonna be around by the time Id show up.

That's alright though, you all better show me up with some excellent photography
Posted By: DanMyers Re: Big meet... - 04/13/05 02:38 AM
I'll buy some new batteries for my digital camera and take a bunch of them for ya.
Posted By: 99Mystique ATX Re: Big meet... - 04/13/05 10:23 PM
I just looked at mapquest and I don't think i'll be able to make it. According to mapquest, its about a 4 hour drive from my house and since i've gotta be back later for a date, I think i'd be pushing my luck to go. Plus, if I went I wouldn't be able to stay very long. It just doesn't seem worth it, at least for me.

Chris - check the Roadhouse site - they have a directions page for each of their locations. (Howdy, by the way! )

If there is a problem of "hanging out" there, everyone could always do the park and then food. Oh wait - food comes first.

Is 11:00 too early for everyone since it is much further than Reading, Allentown, Bethlehem, etc.? I don't much care - I don't have to drive!

And we DEFINITELY want to do the phone-ahead seating - especially if we have a crowd!
Posted By: The Digital Slacker Re: Big meet... - 04/13/05 11:43 PM
i don't think i will be able to get there guys.

My dad doesn't want to come get me in s.c. just so that i can drive to harrisburg for a meet. Anyone want to swing by state college and get me LOL
Posted By: LUCA_dup1 Re: Big meet... - 04/14/05 12:31 AM
Umm, we're not going to Harrisburg Doug. We were going to Dickson City near Scranton. It's easy to get confused since we got way off topic at times.
Terri, I did go to the website but they didn't have the direction feature like they previously did. They just have a map of the area.
99MystiqueATX, is there somewhere that is closer that you think we could meet? It would be nice if you were there and still be able to make your date. IIRC, Dan has to go to work so we can't do this to late in the day.
If anyone has any thoughts jump on in!

I won't be rolling in the SVT either. My parts aren't back yet and it doesn't appear they will be back by friday.

who needs a MAF or T/B?

Quit being a girl... LOL

Guys i wont be able to make it due to myf riends coming up for the "wild" weekend NExt time. Some day i will finally meet you PA bastages.... After this meet we have to start discussing driving plans to SZ
Posted By: DanMyers Re: Big meet... - 04/14/05 01:27 AM
I don't have to go to work until 4, and Dickson city is only about 40 minutes from where I work, so I can chill out until about 3:20 or so, even if it's later in the day like 1 or 1:30, I'll still have some time to come up and hang out for a while.
Posted By: dobiehut Re: Big meet... - 04/14/05 02:20 AM
How many folks are expected on Saturday anyway? Are we only doing the Roadhouse or are we going to Lackawanna too for "photo ops"? Sounds like it'll be another "mixed vehicle 'tour meet"! I told John I'd post to request an "attendance list". LOL!

Sooo, how many WILL be attending?

Has anyone discussed directions to where it is? Also whats in the plans? Just a meet and eat? I have never been to a meet other than last years spring zing.
Posted By: TGO Re: Big meet... - 04/15/05 03:09 PM
is there an address i can mapquest to??
Posted By: LUCA_dup1 Re: Big meet... - 04/15/05 03:29 PM
Here is the address: 4011 Commerce Boulevard
Dickson City, PA 18519
When I run mapquest this is what I come up with: Mapquest
The addresses on Commerce don't go up that high.
Here is the Dickson City Texas Roadhouse website: Dickson City
I PM'd Dan (Myers) and asked if he could help me with some directions.

Parkedcar: yes, it will be a meet and eat kinda meet. Good to see that you can make it!
Posted By: TGO Re: Big meet... - 04/15/05 03:40 PM
so how far into PA is this? I'm guessing past the poconos?? Not worried about the address numbers, if the restaurant is on that road i'll find it.

EDIT: hold up, an hour and 52 minutes from philly?? Sorry people, I can't drive 3 hours just to eat and drive another 3 hours back...
Posted By: DanMyers Re: Big meet... - 04/15/05 07:05 PM
I PMed these directions to LUCA earlier, and I'll post them right now for anyone else coming that doesn't know the way...just click get new directions, change the first box to wherever you're coming from, and then click Target in the Recent Search drop down menu in the right hand box and go from there...Target is right across the street from the Texas Roadhouse, which will be on the left since it's taking you down the hill of Commerce Blvd. and Target will be on the right. If anyone needs me to get directions from wherever they are, if they can't figure out how to do it, PM me or post it here. I have to go to work from 5-9 tonight, but I'll be home around 9:30 and will jump right on here and check.

I'm sorry you won't be coming. We understand, that's a long drive.
Thanks again Dan for the directions.

Not a problem, also, on my smoke break at work, I met the guy with the silver SVT in Tunkhannock...told him about the site and the meet, he should be making an appearance tomorrow, and he has a broken side skirt that I told him you guys would probably be able to help him out finding a replacement or fixing it.
Posted By: dobiehut Re: Big meet... - 04/16/05 02:41 AM
Hey guys - I meant to post this yesterday but wasn't on long enough to do so...

Chknhwk is working a 12 tonight and will not be in PA until about 8:30 am. Heading up to the Scranton area almost immediately after work is just out of the equation.

I'll see youse guys at the next local meet.
Posted By: DanMyers Re: Big meet... - 04/16/05 02:47 AM
Well, for anyone who is coming, I'll be there at about 11. So look for my Spruce Green 'Tour (I would post pics, but my registry still isn't approved) and you'll know I'm there.
Posted By: parkedcar Re: Big meet... - 04/16/05 06:16 AM
I will deffinitely be there along with my girlfriend and her sister. I cant believe i am actually going to drive my car into scranton. Everytime i go i say i will never drive the SVT there. So many potholes and manholes and craterholes. But it cant be worse than detroit.
Posted By: Pre98 Re: Big meet... - 04/16/05 10:55 AM
Remember, take good pics!!

Sorry everyone I wish I could show up. I have my only gen ed today til 1PM.
Posted By: LUCA_dup1 Re: Big meet... - 04/17/05 02:06 PM
We had a good time at the meet. Eight people were there but it was still a good time.
Sorry Dan, I didn't get any pictures of your car. I should have taken pictures first as I forgot you had to leave for work.
We had two contours, a Mustang GT and my Exploder. Here are the pictures: Dickson City meet

Posted By: parkedcar Re: Big meet... - 04/17/05 09:30 PM
Nice pictures
It was nice meeting everyone. I think i am going to try to make it to more meets.

Yeah fun times...I'm definitely gonna register for Carlisle within the next week, so I'll see you guys there.
