OK folks ... here it is !! I just got the pre-registration sheet in the mail yesterday , and the show is set for June 3rd to June 5th . If you pre-register before February 28th the weekend will cost $30 . If you pre-register between March 1st and May 10th the weekend will cost $35 . From there on out , it's $45 . As usual , we need to get 25 cars registered to get the club tent .

I will have more info on this VERY soon , and will scan the form & upload it this weekend . As you all know , we had a GREAT turnout this past year (about 30 cars ) , and I'd like to see it continue to be a fantastic CEG get-together from here on out .

More info to come , but I wanted to get this out there as soon as I got the form !

I was on the Cars at Carlisle website the other day and noticed the date.
I already have the dates marked and will be booking a room in the near future.
Let's hope that next year will be rain free and warmer!!

Oh, BTW, Terri and I have our reservations for The Hampton Inn right off the turnpike.

Hey hey---I can't believe I'm looking forward to about a 6 hour drive 6 months from now. God, I hope the weather is better than it was last time (can't say last year yet)!! I'll get the room sooner this time. BTW, have you decided which hotel yet?

Yep, you can bring your custom 'tour.
There are old, new, stock, and custom Fords at the nationals.
Posted By: Buddy Palumbo Re: Fords @ Carlisle 2005 - 11/15/04 01:12 PM
I would certainly like to attend another Spring Zing (#3 for me) , but we've got too much time & effort invested in making the Carlisle show a great get-together to bail on it for even ONE year . Plus , this massive Ford show is right in our backyard .
Posted By: Buddy Palumbo Re: Fords @ Carlisle 2005 - 11/17/04 01:22 PM
I've been having some "issues" here , so no form uploaded yet . I'll get it uploaded ASAP ... sorry guys !

A couple highlights for ya ...

Boss 302 , 351 , 429 & Boss Eliminator get-together

Celebrating the anniversary of the Merkur

50th anniversary of the Thunderbird

Maybe we should have some signs made up for the 10th anniversary of the Ford Contour , even if as a spoof ??

I am going to concider coming this year, more so if i can't make spring zing

Boss 429 get together really? I might have to make it for that if not try to get my dad to bring his ...

I'm sure there will be a butt-load of Merkurs there , there usually are . I DO think there will be more than normal , though .

This coming year is the 10th anniversary of another Ford car as well ...

*EDIT** - Lemme see if I can come up with a better way to d/l & print out the form ... maybe on my homepage ... gimme a bit

If enough people or rather cars register, do we get a tent like last time? That helped tremendously with the bad weather.

Rich S
Posted By: Buddy Palumbo Re: Fords @ Carlisle 2005 - 12/04/04 03:46 PM
Exactly ! We need the usual 25 cars registered to get the tent . Each year we've grown in numbers attending the Carlisle show , and each year it seems they've given us better spots in the showfield . Maybe coincidence ... maybe not . The last few years , we've shown them that we can pull down consistant numbers , hopefully we can continue to do so . I didn't take my usual walk down to the registration building to get the final number (shame on me) , but I believe we were 30 or over last year .

Maybe we should try to make this a "special" event this year to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Contour/Mystique .

A bunch of us are probably going to be staying at the Clarion in Carlisle. Brian (Checker'd SVT), Tom (Wa2Tuff), Jason (I8Rice), and John (chknhwk) and I stayed there last year. IIRC, John is staying at the Hilton next year.

That's the one Pete. Got me the room with the fridge again, gotta keep the beer cold.

Juspifool: IIRC, the Super 8 is actually next door to the Clarion. Basically, you walk through Super 8's parking lot and into the Clarion's lot.

Thanks!

How many nights is everyone staying?

I'm debating between driving up Friday night or Saturday morning, and leaving Sunday morning.

I'm staying three nights. I'll be heading up on the second (thurs), making a mini vacation out of it.
Brian and Jason usually head up on Friday.

Glad you'll be coming out again this year Paul!
I should be sporting a few new things this year. Already did the PIAA 510's (it was nice to see them first on your 'tour) and a set of "eyelids". A few other things are in the works.
How's the Stazi mesh?
See ya at Carlisle.

Do wheels and 13" brakes count? If so, then I'm there! (Hopefully I'll be sporting a few more mods than just those...)

I'm still waiting to receive them, hopefully by tomorrow or at the latest Monday. I finally took the plunge and had MSDS headers installed.

Hope to show up with 2 cars this year, my SVT, which is still lame compared to everyone else's and my daughter's 98 V6 ATX. I think my son will be the other participant though.

MSDS headers!!

Rich..your SVT is very nice! I didn't consider it lame by any means. I thought that everyone had very nice rides, modded or not.
That's nice that your son will be there showing his sister's 'tour.

Posted By: parkedcar Re: Fords @ Carlisle 2005 - 01/24/05 09:27 PM
i Am looking to actually attend at least one day this year. Things got all messed up last year, i ended up registering both my contours and getting a camping spot, but never made it out. This year should be different. I will make a banner or sign or whatever. If i dont plan on attending all 2 or 3 days, whatever it is, i will ship the banner/sign to whoever.
But as of now count me in. i will register later this week.
Posted By: richs_dup1 Re: Fords @ Carlisle 2005 - 01/24/05 09:31 PM
Right now I plan on going up Saturday morning, so if you are going later I can take the banner if no one else can. I live close, also sussex county.

I assume you mean where in Sussex county. I see you are in Hardwick. Isn't that near the Delaware north of 80. I am near Sparta.

Rich S.

Hope you can make it this year and we can have the North West New Jersey chapter meeting. There are mostly PA members there so a few more New Jersey memebers would be good.

To quote Allen: "Maybe we should try to make this a "special" event this year to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Contour/Mystique." I think this would be a great idea. We need something to show up the Merkur guys. Talk about a "club". I never saw so many in one spot before. I hope parkedcar makes a big a$$ 10th anniversary banner!

Looks like we're still short for the tent and I'm almost 6 hours away but I'll still be there. There's got to be more people who would enjoy the h@ll out this. Will they provide one for less than 25 people?

I think some of the New England people were talking about coming down too.

Hopefully it won't come to that but it's good to know someone may be able to help out.

BTW, has there been any discussion as to the food situation? I'd be willing to bring dogs, buns, etc like we did last year.
Posted By: LUCA_dup1 Re: Fords @ Carlisle 2005 - 04/08/05 03:11 PM
I haven't heard any chatter about food, etc. yet. I'm sure that will get started soon.

Doug to the rescue! Brian (Checker'd SVT) has some tarps that he'll bring, in case it rains we can secure them to the sides of the tent to keep us all dry (and WARM)!

I hope it doesn't rain this year!
Posted By: The Digital Slacker Re: Fords @ Carlisle 2005 - 04/08/05 05:15 PM
I mean, I have access to a probably 20 foot long 7-8 foor long wide tarp, but it would take 5-6 people to set it up...

OK guys ,I guess it's put up-or-shut up time . I just got the tent reservation form in the mail yesterday . The form has to be mailed in by May 4th (that's only a week & a half away ) . By my calculations , we're still a few away from the 25 cars needed for the free tent . Let's poop or get off the pot , people !! You know you want to go !! NOW GET ON WITH IT !! SEND IN THAT REGISTRATION !! Or , if you'd like , you can do your showfield registraion online RIGHT HERE . If you're still on the fence , don't gimme that ! Heck , I'm doing Spring Zing AND Carlisle (2 weeks later) . You want the tent , right ?? You want our spot to get better & better each year , right ?? Then REGISTER now ! Help us celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Contour/Mystique ...

if we register for just one day, will you still get the tent?
My husband and I would like to go, but we can't make it for the entire weekend.
We'll most likely roll in with his SVT.
But if another car is needed, do you think I could get away with registering my Cougar and still help you guys get the tent?
Posted By: LUCA_dup1 Re: Fords @ Carlisle 2005 - 04/29/05 01:17 PM
Thanks Kim.
Even if you come for one day, as long as you are registered under "Contour Enthusiasts Group" (must use full group name) it counts toward the tent.
Not sure about registering the Cougar. Allen can probably answer that one for certain.
We're looking forward to seeing some of the New England'ers this year.
Posted By: Buddy Palumbo Re: Fords @ Carlisle 2005 - 04/30/05 02:04 AM
YES , (to the best of my knowledge) if you register the Cougar , it will count towards the club tent . All you must do is put "Contour Enthusiasts Group" as your club affiliation & we should get the number .

One day , 3 days ... everyone's welcome ! I'm really stoked about seeing everyone again . Someone's gotta remind me to take pics of everyone alongside their ride . I always forget , or am too busy flippin' burgers & socializing .

It may screw us up . I doubt they'll make the connection between the two . When they enter the info into the computer , they'll just hit "www(dot)contour(dot)org" & go on to the next one . The computer won't tally that vote to "Contour Enthusiasts Group" . That's why I've been very specific as to the club name on the registrations . You can try giving Kristine a call at 1.717.243.7855 ext164 , she can change it .

Is it too late for me to help you guys get the tent. I had to wait to see about my schedule, but it looks good now. I would love to take a roadtrip out that way. If it's not too late, I will register tonight when I get home. Hope I didn't wait too long.
Posted By: LUCA_dup1 Re: Fords @ Carlisle 2005 - 05/02/05 07:43 PM
You can still register. The tent form is supposed to be in by the 4th so you've got a bit of time left.
Look forward to seeing you there.
Oh, don't forget...Contour Enthusiasts Group. You have to use the full group name when you register.

Do my eyes deceive me???? Do I count 25?? That spells tent, right, or is it too late?
Posted By: Buddy Palumbo Re: Fords @ Carlisle 2005 - 05/05/05 11:55 AM
I'm going to call down to Carlisle Productions to confirm the number . I called her a few days agao , but she never returned my call . IIRC , there are a couple people on the list that I'm not 100% sure if they registered or not , so I'm not counting any chickens (if ya know what I mean ) .

If your name is on the list , but you haven't registered yet ... SPEAK UP !! No beatings will be handed out , I just want an accurate list !! PM me if necessary .

First I would like to thank Y2KMondeoSVY for all the work on coordinating this effort. Now the question is did we get enough people for a tent? When I count the attendees I only get 24. Does this mean no tent? I asume we could put our own up. Let me know if we need a tent and I'll see if I can get one from my camping friends. I have a bunch of tarps but no poles. I am sure I can find some that would be more than adequate. Let me know. I will not be there until Saturday late morning though.

Rich S.
Posted By: Buddy Palumbo Re: Fords @ Carlisle 2005 - 05/10/05 02:19 AM
The tent is taken care of . I sent the form in by the deadline , counting on everyone to bring it all together and reach 25 . Of course , this DOES NOT mean we can sit on our laurels & NOT get to 25 ! We still need 25 cars to attend through the weekend .

Don't let the CEG down .
Posted By: Matt R_dup1 Re: Fords @ Carlisle 2005 - 05/11/05 02:55 AM
Looks like I will have to cancel going to Spring Zing because of school, but will be able to make this event. I'll work out a few details before I register, but you can most likely count me in. Should I register through the Carlisle website?
Posted By: LUCA_dup1 Re: Fords @ Carlisle 2005 - 05/11/05 01:09 PM

You can register through the website if you'd like.
Just make sure to list "Contour Enthusiasts Group" under group name.

Any word on hotel reservations? I can't find a single hotel in Carlisle that I can get a room in.
Posted By: Buddy Palumbo Re: Fords @ Carlisle 2005 - 05/12/05 12:03 AM
Did you try any of the surrounding towns/cities ? It's an easy ride in & out , even if you're not actually IN Carlisle .
Posted By: Matt R_dup1 Re: Fords @ Carlisle 2005 - 05/12/05 12:58 AM
Closest major city I could see is Harrisburg, about 30 min out. All the other towns around Carlisle seemed kinda small and didn't seem like they would have more than a couple hotels. Even Harrisburg is pretty packed. Anyone else have any other reccomendations?
Posted By: LUCA_dup1 Re: Fords @ Carlisle 2005 - 05/12/05 01:38 AM

I'm officially registered. See ya guys there!!
Posted By: Matt R_dup1 Re: Fords @ Carlisle 2005 - 05/13/05 07:57 PM
In regards to the events, etc... should be get there on June 2nd, and plan on staying through June 5th? And where is everyone going to meet? Will they have info on our tent?
Posted By: LUCA_dup1 Re: Fords @ Carlisle 2005 - 05/13/05 08:04 PM
Most people start to roll in on Friday the 3rd.
We usually just meet at the fairgrounds.
When you get to the fairgrounds (follow the posted signs to the proper gate) you have to check in, get your bag of goodies, and sticker for your windshield. You then proceed into the fairgrounds, just ask one of the staff where to go and they will point you in the right direction.
The tent will be up and a sign will be posted.
Did you get that hotel?
Posted By: Matt R_dup1 Re: Fords @ Carlisle 2005 - 05/13/05 08:16 PM
Awsome. Going to right now. Thanks LUCA.
Posted By: LUCA_dup1 Re: Fords @ Carlisle 2005 - 05/13/05 08:46 PM
I forgot to add, we check out of the hotel on Sunday the 5th, then head to the fairgrounds and go home from there.
Don't want you paying for an extra day at the hotel, that is unless you were planning on staying Sunday night also.

Won't get to Carlisle til 9 or 10 Fri nite, but then I gotta pitch my tent (my brother and I are staying at Carlisle Campground). So I won't see you guys + gals till Late Fri. or Early Sat morn. I'm soooo geeked about this show, you would think I was a 10 year old kid on Christmas Eve. Please let it be nice that weekend.

Yea , depending on when you arrive , it can be a bit of a PITA . I doubt you'll find it be that much of a struggle though .

There was a line to get into the check in area last year, but it goes fairly quick. It took about 20 to 30 minutes to get in and parked so I could check in. IIRC. That was around 5PM Friday, I think. It just seems to be a long time after driving for 6 hours.

PS. Matt, don't forget your trunk lid.

WEATHER REPORT
looks like some t-storms

hopefully it will change in the comming days
Posted By: LUCA_dup1 Re: Fords @ Carlisle 2005 - 05/31/05 01:37 AM
I hope it doesn't rain but if it does, we're prepared.
Brian has some tarps and I've got some clips. We can clip the tarps to the sides of the tent and stay nice and dry this year. At least it's supposed to be warm. **fingers crossed** Hopefully that part of the forecast won't change.

I lost my registration card. What should I do? Can you get in w/o one?
Posted By: LUCA_dup1 Re: Fords @ Carlisle 2005 - 06/02/05 02:07 AM
Yeah, I'm sure that you can get in without it, may have to show your DL.
I'll call in the morning and see what the Carlisle people have to say, but I don't think you'll have a problem.
Check back in the morning after 9.

Chris, it's probably because you registered later and they didn't have time to mail the registration card to you.

Yeah, 50% change of rain on Friday

On a positive note, at least Saturday and Sunday are going to be nice.

I want breakfast burgers like last year

I'll make sure we're there around 9:30 then.
Also, there are hoses available so that you can wash your cars after your long trip.
IIRC, the dyno was open the whole time.

too much going on with us right now
we were going to just go for the day on Saturday, but it's just not feasible.
bad planning on my part I guess. I got overexcited and really didn't think things through.
So we're just going to eat the $35 registration fee.

Hope you all have a great time.

Sorry to hear you guys aren't going to make it , Kim . Now you can't grab that wine you were going to take back with ya . It's understandable , with the massive drive & all . We'll all drink a beer for you guys !
Posted By: DanMyers Re: Fords @ Carlisle 2005 - 06/03/05 01:46 PM
Enjoy yourselves guys....

Yesterday one of my friends kicked a soccer ball and hit my quarter panel, and now there is a very large dent in the metal on my passenger side....I'll see what the guys at the shops around town say, but until they tell me it's alright, I don't want to drive it, especially on long trips.

Sucks that it happened, and I feel bad because it's gonna be pretty expensive, and now he has that financial strain on him.
Posted By: Buddy Palumbo Re: Fords @ Carlisle 2005 - 06/03/05 02:34 PM
We don't care if there's a dent in your car . Just show up . If nothing else , it'll make an interesting conversation .

He's right. Besides, maybe we can park it so no one will see that side, like next tent?
Posted By: BrApple_dup1 Re: Fords @ Carlisle 2005 - 06/03/05 06:06 PM
well I am still planning on heading out tomorrow morning and to spend the day. My parents are heading out tonight but they decided not to take my fathers contour since they didn't have time to wash it, kinda dirty from all the rain the last week or so

but I will be cleaning my car up more or less tonight and will be out in the morning

didn't read but is anyone going to have 2-ways on them? parents and I will have my set and we will be on ch12, so that is how I am going to get in touch with at least them when I show up
Posted By: DanMyers Re: Fords @ Carlisle 2005 - 06/03/05 06:42 PM
We'll see how I feel tomorrow and sunday...I don't really like to drive with it 'cause it closed the gap between the quarter panel and the hood and I can't really open my hood, so if something were to go wrong under the hood....well, let's just say it'd be real bad. Plus since I can't open the hood I haven't checked to see if it damaged anything under the hood so I really don't wanna drive it too much.

I will have one of my 2 mile range ones on ch 12 for you. For everyone coming, we are in area B39.

To get there, when you first come in the enterence you need to go strait. We are up on the hill in front of you. We are up on the top, so you will need to take a left then go up the hill. We have a tarp and there will be a CEG sign there. I will be there with the T-Red SVT, arriving around 9am. I am bringing a camp stove and stuff so i can make some coffee tomorrow morning.

I'll be there first thing in the morning tomorrow . That's what the plan is , but I know ME . I'll most likely have my 2-ways on me , for whatever reason .

So we're on the hill again ... bummer . I was hoping we'd have the same sweet spot we had last year . Yea well !

Yo chris, if you see this please spread the word. We are going to park in the sections for judging. Non-SVT's are going to be across the street on teh other side of the tent... all the svt's are going to be up side of the tent... if that is too vague please tell christine that we will be where we origionally parked. Everyone can move back once the judging is over and we can be as a group again =)

Hopefully that isn't a big problem!

As many of you remember I wrote to Car Crazy to see if we could get Mr. Meguiar to come to our tent to meet us and see our rides.

I received this reply on Monday (late, yes):
Thanks very much for sending us the information on your All Ford Nationals event. However our travel and events plans for Car Crazy TV are set months in advance, so I am sorry that we have missed your event this year. I hope it was as big and successful as it was last year.
If you could send us the information for next year, we will check whether it fits into our 2006 planning and hopefully will see you all again next year.
Thanks for being a Meguiar's fan and Car Crazy!!!

I sent off the 06 dates (June 2-4) and again gave our information, Contour.org, etc. Also, I said that we were looking forward to meeting Mr. Meguiar and showing him our Contour/Mystiques, SVT and non.

I will let you all know if/when I hear back.

Hopefully next year we will get some Car Crazy exposure!

So I've got a year to do some mods, huh? Oh, the pressure. J/K. That's great to hear, hopefully they will show up. I think most of you guys deserve exposure like that. Keep the fingers crossed.

Christine, do you really want more first place competition?

What exactly was the class that was won? Is there more than one contour class? Can someone throw the zetec a bone?
It would suck not to be considered for anything due to lack of cylinders...

They are two classes, SVT Contour and Non-SVT tour + myst...

so you should be fine. I won the non-svt class with a 2L auto two years ago ...
Posted By: PeppermintPatty Re: Carlisle NEXT year - 06/14/05 03:00 PM
Well that's cool...so it's not like stock or modded, or one class altogether. I'm assuming you get a voting ballot w/ your registration...?

Originally posted by SVZETEC:

Nope, not stock or modified, the two classes are SVT and Contour/Mystique.

Everyone who registers gets a voting ballot. You get to vote for lots of cars with the ballot not just the SVT's and Contour/Mystiques. This year we could vote for our favorite Focus, ZX2, Grand Tourino (AKA the Starskey and Hutch cars), Mustangs from the "Yellow Mustang Registry", along with many other kinds of Fords.

Competition with Chad, I'm not worried. I go to have fun and hang out with really nice people. This year was a great time, lots of "never been to Carlisle" people were there. It was so great meeting and hanging out with everyone, that's what makes Carlisle fun for me.

Chad has to come next year, he's promised me that he'd bring the Ho-Ho's and Mountain Dew.

Hope to see you there next year.
