After driving around with my DMD installed for a week, I have a pretty good idea of the differences it makes. The biggest thing I notice is that my car now starts smoother. It used to vibrate upon startup, and not you can't even feel anything.

The second biggest difference is when driving around with the windows up so you can't hear the induction or exhaust. Been hot around here this week, so had AC on a lot. I can not tell the RPM range I am in unless I look on the tach. You can't feel engine vibrations or feedback in the gas pedal anymore.

What an amazing Mod!!!!!!! Smoother through the whole RPM range in my car.

well, after installing the DMD on my car, I noticed the higher revs, obviously, are a hell of a lot smoother.
i love the way it sounds now at high revs....

however, not without a few issues.

1) the first time it was installed, no rtv was put on the keyway. oil leaked like a bastid....

had to replace crank seal as it was all torn up.

now, i noticed yesterday, that I saw another drop or two in my driveway.....man, i can't stand this sh*t.

car looks great - but is friggin leaking oil.....what a pissah.

Whatever oil that leaks out, just put it back in. Ha Ha!!!! I noticed a small leak after mine was installed, but it turned out to be the drain plug.

I haven't had any oil leak on mine yet. Though, by the time Jay got to my car he was in the groove of things. Just zipped right along.

Well I have yet another oil leak. The one from the drain plug has gone away, but now there is oil leaking from where the DMD was installed.

You guys have any ideas???????

damn that sucks, Ed.
perhaps Jay didn't use enough RTV??
or maybe we started your car up before giving the RTV time to set.

Mike and I have not seen any oil leaks since our DMD's have been installed.

Maybe we can take it apart this weekend and put some more RTV in there and let it set properly. Maybe Jay can bring the tools up?? I am sure I am missing something here.

I recently read somewhere that you must lubricate the seal surface before installing the pully or it will damage the crank seal.

EDIT: Oh, here it is:

crank seal gone bad after DMD install?

But you've already been there

If you're going to pull the DMD, why don't you just install new crank seals ?

just have to say this freakin thing made a hell of a difference! well worth the 100 smackers. can not even feel engine vibrations at all. to sum it up, simply amazing

I was bummed to hear that Ed's car is leaking oil. We'll get to the bottom of it on the nest DMD meet.

Not sure if mine is leaking a little oil or just a little paint peeling off the DMD. No splatter on the block, so I think all is good. I'll keep an eye on it.
Posted By: GR8SVT_dup1 Re: DMD Review - 08/19/02 01:03 PM
well, no more leaking from the DMD that I can see.

Either I have no more leak or it was never leaking to begin with, or I have no more oil in the engine to leak out.

hahahaha

I couldn't agree with you guys more - 90 never felt so smooth. Now to get to the Dyno to see what kind of a difference this and the Chip made. Hopefully a gain from the Chip and a not so noticeable loss from the DMD (from the ASP Pulley I had on before).

Anyway.....Lovin it Lovin it Lovin it.

Just ordered a new crankshaft pulley bolt this morning. Should have it in my hands by Thursday.
