OK so these are the ones going so far:

1. sosaudio1
2. skeeters 20
3. Ryanblacksvt
4. FlechaAutoSports
5. ATL-SVT
6. Kremithefrog
7. Chattavegas

Possible 8 being Anthonyconstant His escort is getting a transplant and may not make it in time...due to the shop dragging their feet. If anyone knows him and can give him a ride...post here...and PM him.

The info provided by everyone WILL make its way to a grid list that will be sent to everyone's inbox ONLY no info IE cellphone numbers will ever be posted, that were PM'd to me, here.

Also those who have stated NOT to publish their cell numbers, you wish has been granted. Only I holding the master list will have your cell number, therefore, only I will be calling you. Now as far as a game plan for sunday, I would say those who are staying both days need to get with the group on Saturday and come up with a plan as I will not be there both days. We should plan on getting there early saturday and usually the best place to meet is inside the speedway at the center bleachers.

Remember to plan. Bring some extra cash to cover gas, food, and snacks. Think about sunscreen, cell phone coverage in Atlanta. Will you incur roaming charges???

BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL on your way into NOPI. There has always been a large police presence (go figure) on the way into the speedway. Also, take your time, the lines into NOPI have a tendancy to be long. Bring your camera and LOTS of memory sticks or film.

Be on your guard all the time, NOPI is huge and full of all types so watch your back.

Most importantly we will have a good time.

We will probably leave out around 6pm to 7pm Atlanta time to get in line to leave. Plan on this taking about 1 - 2+ hours. If you want to get something to eat and gas up for the trip out, we will need to find a fast food shop on the way out..think there is a McD's on the way in...we will use that on the way out too. Matter of fact, I may meet some of you there on the way in for lunch.

7 days out 7 days left then the roller coaster begins, strap yourselves in....this WILL be a wild ride.

It looks like I might be a maybe.
Have to get a dent in my hood fixed. So that $25 gate fee doesn's sound so good anymore. And I sure don't want people to see my dent.

From what I have read online and from people that I have talked to... Springfest! Located in Greenville,MS (my home town!). Last year there was over 3000 entries and over 8000 spectators.

Like I said, from what I have read and the people that I have talked to, they have claimed this show as a miniNopi. It is by far the second largest car and truck south in the southeast. People from as far away as Cali come every year. Next years plans to be even better since they picked up a few more sponsers for the show. Sony will be there with a show car, as well as another big name that I cannot remember.

1. sosaudio1
2. chattavegas
3. Kremithefrog
4. ATL-SVT
5. FlechaAutoSports
6. AnthonyConstant

So six that are known which is two more than last year. Now, here is the deal, ATL, you are bringing others correct? Chattavegas, you bringing the Foci kids? Kremit is going to be hanging in the Navi with some of his peeps. I will be bringing Calvin, otherwise known as the Nissan Warrior, and hopefully another friend of mine and his GF. She has a tour, and he has a Mazda Miata new body style and sweet.

So even tho the list is small, everyone bringing everyone is going to make our mob bigger.

So all in all, we still have quite a crowd and I suspect that we will be found by some more tours in ATL and surrounding that will come later. Those are the few that look at the threads and have not yet regged. They are welcome too.

I am as of now working on the sheets and will be sending them momentarily.

Rich
Sweet, I moved up to numba 2! Yeah, I might be bringin a Focus or two.

My face is very red.... it was fun... I'm sure I saw your car Tim, but there was a lotta other yellow SRT-4s, was your's parked with the other SRT-4s or was it that lone one with all the civics? I saw one contour, a black svt with a wing, I bet there's no contour class next year.

Congrats Tim. Now its time to get that nice shiny neon dirty. Still up for Silver Dollar this weekend?
Posted By: ATL-SVT_dup1 Re: Sommbeech - 09/22/03 11:11 AM
Kermit, man I missed you guys somehow??? Thankfully I wasn't parked in yellow srt row! I think it helped my chances! I was parked next to N2Deep (Ryan), he doesn't post here too often, but he has a phat SVT with a full diamond audio trunk setup, 2 screens up front, polished manifold, his car is badass....

Aurthur, yeah man I need to get down to the track one more time before the end of the season... I'm still in for this weekend. There should be at least one more srt-4 out there with me.... so if you can't beat me anyways, maybe you can kill one of them, haha. j/k talk is cheap we'll settle this at the track mang! I'll pm you my cell number sometime this week so we can coordinate a bit better.

Good on ya Tim! Way to go! I still have the nicest car in my garage.

"I bet there's no contour class next year."
I dont like to hear those words!!!!!!!!!!

Kermit,

I worked really hard to get this class. And everyone always says that they are proud of their tours, but you guys never enter the car shows that big vendors attend. There are only a hand full of people that give a care. That is why their are no mass produced products for us, the hand full that care do what they can with the products available. Other wise we think of new ideas to be creative.
Im thakful that you and the others visited, but I would have been greatful if you and the others had entered the show. If Im not mistaken you've been working on your car for a long time and their is always some execuse why it can't come. That would seem like you are a fare weather fan of the contours.
Right now you maybe thinking this guy is a real as*h*le, well your probably right. I do not mean to pick you out of everyone but its just that I have tried and tried to do projects and get vendors on board, but as a hole the Contour Enthusiast Group is worse than the ricers out there.
If more people would show up to give support, than alot more products might start becoming available.
Otherwise sit on the sidelines and watch your peers do all the work, maybe they will suceed or maybe they will fail. But at least we are triing.

Sorry for venting

N2deep

P.s. keep the negativity to your self

uhh, no I don't think anything bad about you. I just don't think my car is up to show standards (not even close) and would just help to bring more ridicule to the contour. My car had a CEL this weekend, has no a/c, and nearly bald tires. Not exactly suited for 500 miles of driving. I would also have to put the back seat and seat belts back in. Maybe I'll show one day, but I'm not gonna show my P.O.S. until I'm proud of it. Was that your black svt with the wing? Also, I'm 17,going to NOPI already cost me a lot, paying $30 more at this time to show my crappy zetec isn't at the top of my list at this time. Like I said though, maybe one day when my car is worth showing.

Me too and me too! Sorry Ross, but I do have to agree with N2Deep though, we really need to represent more. Gotta floss steady, heard? I woulda been down there slingin cash like a champ, but I had too much crap up here. Anyway, it's good to see some CEGer's were out in force down there.
Posted By: sosaudio1 Re: NOPI ROCKED - 09/24/03 03:23 PM
Yup another NOPI in the books. FYI, you might want to set your VCR's to Spike on Sunday at 10:30am central 11:30 eastern, watch NOPI TV. Methinks that this years NOPI nats will be on this Sunday. If so, you can prolly catch me looking like I am about dead at the burnout contest.

It was all good except for the heat and the $3 for bottled water.

TIM way to go dude!!!!

So for next year, we will set a time and a place to meet. This way we can get together, and see as many cars as possible.

Of the people that were going to be there, I was able to meet Kremit for a second and I called ATL...LOL....dude that place was a mess to try and navigate...but it sooo rocked..

Guys we need to post NOPI pics soon. IF you have em, start the thread. I should have some soon esp of the burnout contests.

You know I will prolly enter next year. The reason...did anyone see the BROWN STOCK Ugly van there??? Dude, I think he got lost and just decided to park in the park. No joke, if he can get in and.....show....I guess, then really there is no reason not to.

Anyhoo, on to the next meet. 10/25 Huntsville

I got plenty of pics, but no digital ones. And the $3 for drinks did SUCK, only water fountains were way back at the top of the stands. Next year I'll probably have a bike and I'll ride it up there, weather permiting.

Hell yeah! There are some great shots in there.

One thing though that leaves me sort of troubled...

"Showcaseing"

Ok, there is nothing wrong with that. I am one to really talk here since I just made the commint in one of the Zetec forums that to get the CD4E where we want it, we have to do all this. But DAMN!

Looking at the pics of NOPI Nationals Hotlanta has really made me rethink all this stuff. My thinking... (and mine only, this is of noone's brainwashing)

My thinking is this, "Do we really have to paint up our cars like that, just to gain some respect from an aftermarket that really could give a crap?" Ok, so is that what I really meant when I said that we have to get our cars out there so that something can and will be done to resolve our current situation? Hell No!! When the conversation came up between Kremit and N2Deep, it really made me think alot about all this and this is what I came up with...

Anybody's car can sit still, but not just anyone's car can turn heads at the track.

Isn't this what a lot of the import screen has come too? Who can make there car look more like something you would see on Speed then someone else's? Sure it has! But most CEGers look at their cars as cars that can hold their own without paint and graphics. One thing though... The FIA WRC has had a larger impact then we really think. Hopefully this will bring some sencerity to what is goin on in todays world of aftermarket cars.

Another thing. The Contours were never Sport Compacts anyway. So why should we try to be? We are a whole other breed of car altogether. So why should we think that we should have all the same products out there on the market like all the other Sport Compacts? Keep in mind, the Contour was brought to The States at a time when the truck was turning King. The Contours life was shortened by the fact that Ford had to make some dough. That is the goal of any business and we cannot hold that against them. But the fact remains, the truck out-sold the car hands down during all the years that the Contour was in major production. The turning point for the Contour was in 98, when the SVT was introduced. I think this was mearly a way for Ford to push a car that they believed in despite the overwhelming opisition with The Truck market. Needless to say, it failed. Is it because of the Contour? Hell no! It was only because most people at the time wanted a Hummer and could not afford one. Everyone wanted a truck or SUV. I fell that Ford felt that Mercury could do a better job of marketing the CDW27 platform, since Ford was so consumed with the F150/250 line. Hince the Cougar came into play. Only problem with the Cougar... It was a legenday body style that was play with way to much (I personally think it was the right move now, but at the time it was introduced I hated it!!) and the fact that all it took was a little perswadeing from the Ford side to make the finance charges a little better looking for a truck. That is one reason that my wife and I bought a Ranger in 2000 and not a Cougar or Contour.

That brings me to the whole "CEG way of thinking", if you will...
We are the lovers of a dying bried. Call us the fans of the Misfits way before Danzig was ever formed. And you know what, that along with the car itself is what keeps people coming back and most poor people feeling like they own a million dollar automobile. It is in this sacrite tradition of "loveing a car" that we are all bound! Sort of the samething as why I will not let my two girls enter pagents. I know that they would win or give the competion a run for their money, but I have nothing to prove... I have to beatiful girls and a lovly car... What else could man ask for?
Posted By: contourchic Re: NOPI ROCKED - 09/27/03 02:27 AM
Hey yall, long time no post. I wanted to go to the Nationals soooooooo bad...but I had a baby pending. He was due on the 26th, but guess what? HE'S HEREEEEEEEEE!!! He made his appearance on September 24th, at 12:22 pm. His name is Dominic Xavier, and he weighed 7 lbs 13 oz, and was 18 1/2 inches long. If I had tried to go to the nationals...he wouldve been born sooner from all the walking, and I couldnt have made it home in time to deliver him. I'm kinda upset though that i couldnt go....i had been plannin on goin since last years trip. Oh well....I cant win them all. At least i got a healthy baby though.
If any of you want to see his picture, its on the huntsville hospital web page. I wish i couldve gone though...oh well. It wasnt meant to be for me this year, huh. Next year though....

I feel like I own a $5 automobile and a lotta cars/trucks at NOPI could kill a contour. Congratulations on the baby Amanda.
Posted By: sosaudio1 Re: NOPI ROCKED - 09/27/03 07:23 PM
Way to go Amanda!!!! Awesome!!!!

Show for the fun first! Aftermarket manufacturers are there for themselves, remember that. If you want sponsorship and bring the aftermarket to the car them you are gonna need to make sure you can have fun but then give up and make sacrifices of your time to show "their" car off.

Do it for the fun of it.

Like I said before, if you can enter NOPI with a big brown van that is bonestock, then you can enter anything.

Just don't be afraid to.

I am thinking I will enter next year.

WOW TIM NICE PICS!!!!

Dear Unisys12,
As a married man with two daughters I would expect you to be more concerned with your family more so than to care what people think about your car. I think that maybe one day my views might change when i have a family. I respect your valid point. But for now, It involves more than just respect as a individual, I'm thinking of more along the lines as a group. Unity as a group would make us stronger, thats why the import is so large. If you noticed that some vehicles were hot and some were not, but its the unity that makes its all great. As far as changing the situation it can always be changed thats why Spring Zing is put together. People go to it because of unity, respect and some times vendors participate for product awareness.

Maybe I do have something to prove- that you can turn an everyday sedan into something, for starters. Maybe another reason is to show that American cars can do it and look as good as import cars with the right touch. I would not go as far as to say that I follow all the trends of the import scene, but I do go as far as I can to express my personality and ideas thru my car. Not everyone has to paint their cars or add graphics to get the aftermarket to notice them. They do it because they want to and its a way of expressing or accenting their car to make it unique. How many people in your area have Mystiques with flow master on it and are lowered with roush springs, I bet not many. I might not no the reason why you did the mods you did, but I bet its because you wanted to, to make it unique.
With the right personality a car can sit still to make people notice.

Not to jump topics I was just thinking.... The aftermarket scene in some form do give a crap because we are the one that support their business. It makes them money, you cant tell me (you can if you want) that Brad noone sells the things he sells just for the love of the car, hell no he does it because he makes a little money at it.

Now back on track as far as mine and kermit conversation is concerned. My point was to get everyone to start coming out of their shells and show some unity for the contour or mystique family.

Thankyou

I'll show some unity one day, when I feel my car is worth it. By then though nobody else will probably be pimpin contiques other than me, but I'm gonna keep mine forever (unless it gets destroyed or something).

well well well......

dont have to be so pissy about it. as far as the unity of contiques, we do have unity. but some of us dont have the money to show our cars because they are taking care of their families I dont think it was fair for you to say that he cares more about his car than he does us. you dont know Phillip like I do and who died and made you God to come on here as a newbie and talk down to some one who more than likely knows a heck of a lot more than you do.
and for your info, I own a Honda and I am part of this club too. because I do love the contiques just like every one else. but I am not telling any one that they care less about their families than they do about their cars.

and if you must know, he lowered his car because he wanted it that way and not to impress anyone else but himself. he didn't put the flowmaster on until I got mine first, it was my idea. and yes the intake was for better performance.

and as far as the graphics, if we don't want graphics we dont have to put them on there. that is being unique dont ya think.....

thank you

n2deep has been on these boards longer than most of the people in the SE. The fact that he doesnt have a lot of posts in no way makes him a newbie...when the site got redone his(and my) profile got erased so post count started over...so hes no newbie. AND...when you were talkin about your hubbies car being lowered and the flowmasters...you and n2deep were agreeing. His point was that unisys did it for him and not for anyone else...it was a way for him to express himself and thats pretty much what you said. Your opinions arent too far off. Anyone can post online...unity is when it comes down to it and you have to go out and do something for the group. If I still had my CSVT I woulda been at NOPI...stock cept for konis/eibachs/CAI/FMS 9mm wires. I know talk is cheap...just adding my .02

Dear corrupted_by_CEG,
I in no way shape or form said anything about your husband caring more about his car than his family. I said if I was in the same situation with a family that my views would be the same, but I am not married and I do not have my own family. So my priorities are different. As far as being a newbie I'm not that new I've been on this board for a while and have been part of the Georgia Chapter for some time.
As far as graphic and paint are concerned I do agree with you (i never said it is a necessary). My whole feeling about that was people do it to set themselves apart from the norm. Its like having a tatoo its a form of selfexpression, except its on a car.
I also agree with your husband and yourself that some people can not afford to fix up his or her car. But showing a car does not always have to be about how much money someone has spent, it can be about a group of people that just like to have fun.

i am here to also stick up for n2deep. i havent known him long but in the short time i have he has given me countless pieces of advice for my csvt. he has about the nicest csvt i have ever seen anywhere and i have seen thousands on-line and in person. the whole thing about the graphics and paint he can go either way. he used to have the best looking graphics, and now they are removed and the car still looks amazing. you should really take some advice from him if you want to win any shows, he has been doing this for a very long time and his range of knowledge goes far beyond csvt's. like i said i havent known him long and me personaly i havent been into these cars for very long other than the fact that i have wanted a csvt since 1997 when i got a contour gl and now that i have mine i want it to look the best it can and personaly i wont take any advice from anyone but him to make mine look and perform better. and one more thing he isnt knocking anyone with a family or he would knock me first being 27 with 2 kids and a wife. so he knows not everyone can put alot of money into thier cars, shoot anyone that knows me knows i have a wish list a mile long for mods and cannot even get started on it cause i do have a family. to end -i would take some advice from him to heart about hooking your car up if thats what you wanna do cause if not it will probly look like a warm piece of crap when your finished like alot of cars i have seen with people not taking friendly advice. you know putting those APC stickers all over the place. tacky co-mon. anyway have fun.

And to everyone...again...

Geez guys! n2deep...dude, you are on the money. So is Unisys and Corrupted.

From knowing where you all are coming from, if you look at it standing in everyone's shoes, the posts made sense, but LOL, it is a little hard sometimes to put those shoes on.

So here is what I am a gonna do here...stop bickering.

n2deep, I hear your car pops, that is excellent. You must keep up the good work. I say must here because of how far ahead you are. Don't quit. Unisys and corrupted and my self...dude we are all broke, but we are doing the small stuff that we can do to make our cars better, faster, stronger, and break em out of the mold to make them, 1. Perform better, and 2. Look better and more with our own personalities. If I didn't have bills, a wife, and 3 dogs, I would be popping just like everyone else.

Here is the deal, just don't give up. I think that is what everyone is trying to say.....maybe not in so many words.

But guys, breathe in....breathe out....breathe in....breathe out.

Don't sweat the small stuff. Right??? OK so here is what I think we should do....not to be a suck up or something...but...really guys, lets just bury this and laugh at it.

n2deep, bring your car to Huntsville so that we can all droo.....I mean marvel over it. I don't want pics, I want cars. Come with it and lets put all this crap behind aight???

Gotta go

Hollar on the new meet thread.

See ya
Rich
