Well I just booked my cabin at Caney Creek, a $167.00 for (3) nights, unbelievable That is for the cabin w/ a single bed, but they have another cabin, or two, that sleeps (8), so those of you guys who don't mind company and wanna save some $$$$, I suggest you get that one and your individual cost would be VERY low Heres the phone number for Caney Creek (800) 251-9658 and the website is www.caneycreekvillage.com I stayed here two years ago when I first did the Dragon Run and its a nice place to stay and its only 4 miles N of where the Cherahola Skyway begins. For those of you who don't know, the Cherahola Skyway leads right into the Dragon and is about 57 miles long and has great elevation changes, GREAT places to stop and take pics, restrooms and did I mention the scenery The turns on the Cherahola Skyway are nothing to sneeze at either, but aren't as technical as the Dragon, but VERY rewarding none the less!

I told the lady on the phone that a couple of you would be calling her, so she's expecting your call. I wanted to book this place early because last year there was this panning for gold weekend and they were all booked up. If for some reason they get booked up, they will suggest another cabin group to you, like they did for me last year, this way I wasnt' left out and far away from all the action. I can't say this enough, if you haven't been here, you need to be! Everything is great, including the people, the food, the roads and the weather. For those of you who don't know, I've been doing this Fall Dragon Run for the past (2) years and its a 580 mile drive one way for me, so I don't wanna hear about the drive from anyone, LOL!

If someone else would like to suggest another cabin/bed and breakfast, etc in the area, please chime in as choices are good BTW, can we PLEASE have this thumbtacked, thanks.

Would that actually be 4 miles south of the skyway?
Posted By: Loco4G63 Re: Fall Dragon Run 05' cabin/hotel info - 06/20/05 10:09 PM
Well we will see......might not be able to make it this year!

I'm new to this and feel rather dumb for asking, but what exactly is the dragon run and whatnot? Where is it, what is it? Can someone give me some general info for a newb. Thanks!

This is the way to find out what your car is all about, but listen to me when I say this, make sure the brakes are NEW, as well as your tires I'm not sure how many CEG-ers will be there, but there will be ALOT of other cars out there doing the same thing, having the best time you can have in a car!
Brakes and tires don't have to be new necessarily but definitely in good condition. My contour's tires are made for the abuse I give them nor are the brakes. My brakes could not handle the abuse and smoke was pouring off of them, especially on the skyway. .... And it's fun to spin your car around on the dragon, but be careful, it would be easy to slide off the cliff. .... I'll try to make it again this year, in the escort. Maybe ya'll can keep up.
Posted By: Klasse Act Re: Fall Dragon Run 05' cabin/hotel info - 07/05/05 12:34 PM
Has anyone made their reservations to Caney Creek yet? The reason I ask is because I wanna know my neighbors that weekend

Kremit: I'm glad you tires/brakes are ok, but this time, take it easy around that and all the turns, we don't want someone from the CEG getting hurt, well, physically anyways, mentally and ego wise, that'll learn yah
Oops, meant to say *aren't* as in tires aren't really good. But the escort is about to get fuzions and brakes are good in it, so it'll be ready if I make it.
Posted By: BlackSVT98 Re: Fall Dragon Run 05' cabin/hotel info - 07/06/05 05:54 AM
So when is the Fall Dragon run? I looked on the calendar at the Dragon's site, but it said nothing about us tours...any dates?
Posted By: SAV Re: Fall Dragon Run 05' cabin/hotel info - 07/06/05 06:16 AM
Ross, if you have any trouble driving the Contour, I'll gladly volunteer to follow you with it while you drive your Escort. That way you can have the whole family there. I'll even pay you a rental fee, kinda like Avus or Enterprise.

Just a suggestion...a rather nagging one, but still a suggestion...

-Chris
Can we also get some mor econcrete info as to when everyone plans to be there?! I'd like to book/make the trip down the same time you go Roger. 580 mile sisn't crap... about a 9 hour drive making good time and it's defenetly not a boring dirve to the area, seeing it is through God's country.. the Smokey Mountains. I plan on booking there shortly and I'll find out the cost of the 8 person Cabin and see if we can't get enough people to chip in to make our stay VERY Cheap.

That might work. Sorta depends on if I get new wheels/tires for it and if your comfortable with the sorta crappy brakes.

Man with all this posting and talking about the Dragon I want to GO!!! But work and the fact I will be going to Las Vegas a month before doesn't help the situation.....I am making plans for next year!!!
Posted By: Klasse Act Re: Fall Dragon Run 05' cabin/hotel info - 07/06/05 11:31 PM
Hector- say it isn't so, your not going to Las Vegas to do "the deed", are you I was looking forward to making yet another trip to Chicago, damn!

Also, you guys should take Chads advice and get that 8 person cabin and split the cost, its the smart thing to do for sure. Not to mention, it has a jacuzzi I'm really looking forward to seeing the regulars again, Eric and Josh. Go Vols! and Eric, did you get a new hat yet?

BTW, has anyone booked their cabin/hotel yet

So when are the contours congregating at the dragon??
Posted By: BlackSVT98 Re: Fall Dragon Run 05' cabin/hotel info - 07/09/05 04:27 AM
SE CEG Dragon Run: October 15, 2005
...thank you SAV

That's awesome...I should be able to make it out there, I'll be going to WCU in the fall and it's only like an hour away.
Thanks to Jim, I've got 17"s on the way. I'll order tires for both cars next week. ...

I just thought of a problem. My contour is in my mom's name/her insurance. I don't think she'd be up for having someone other than me drive it. I'm all for it, because it just sits around most of the time (i.e. needs to be driven).
Posted By: SAV Re: Fall Dragon Run 05' cabin/hotel info - 07/11/05 07:48 AM
So you drive that, and I'll drive the Escort.

I'm used to it anyway. Problem solved.

What kinda wheels did you get? I saw some nice Konig Holes I was gonna let you know about, but I didn't know your price bracket and if it included tires or not. They were at Pep Boys, of course.

-Chris
You can't drive the escort. Only I can drive the escort. It's more fun than the 'tour.

Got st200's. Not my favoritest wheel but it's not bad. Especially the cost. I do need to find center caps for them. Putting fuzion zri's on both cars (225/45/17 and 205/50/15).

Try Signature for the CEG discount if BAT doesn't have them on clearance.
Cool. Thanks again Jim.

I'm coming down on Thursday, October 13th (its my travel day) and then I'm heading out there Friday to drive and hangout and take some pics. Saturday is the day when we all get together and head out there and then comes Sunday, damn, gotta go home

***Book your cabin early***
I might try to make it maybe just Sat and Sun for a little while. But I have never been on the gap w/ a car. Bike or car.....hmmmmmmmm?
I need to try and get Sat off from work first.

Less than THREE monthes to go

Book that cabin, don't wait!
Posted By: Klasse Act Re: Fall Dragon Run 05' cabin/hotel info - 07/28/05 01:15 AM
Almost got another month down and its about 9 weeks away
So who wants to share a cabin/hotel?
Posted By: SAV Re: Fall Dragon Run 05' cabin/hotel info - 07/30/05 04:35 AM
I'll share with you. I can't see myself missing this three years in a row.

-Chris
I'll need you to pay before hand this time and if you miss it, I will only be able to give you money back if we find someone else to take your place. It's gonna take me some money to get brakes and some suspension stuff on the escort by then and I just can't afford to pay any more than I have to for a place to stay. We need atleast one other person to go in on a cabin (sleeps 4-6, so 2 more would be cool too). This is where me, Zach, and Eric stayed http://www.panthercreekproperties.com/ ... I might call Zach to see if he still has his SVT and if he wants to go, since he hasn't posted on here in forever.
If there is some where (caney creek, a hotel, etc.) else you'd rather stay, that'd be cool too.

A couple people from Albany may try to make it. So that may lower our cost wherever we stay (I'm sure they'd gladly pay for a floor/couch to sleep on).

Man, the wife and I are really thinking of making this meet! The kids will be there, but that's not a big deal.

I will need to get some Mintex pads, before, at least. Other than that, it is the money for the lodging... How much are you guys looking at spending on rooms? Even if there are three or four other people in the room, what are we looking at?

Last year, you guys were there on my b-day... which sucked, but I understand. We really want to make this trip so... if anyone could break this down or would be willing to PM their cell # so we could talk more about shareing a room, that would be great!
Probably not a good idea for me to share a room with kids.

It's alright guys... We found out that Taylor, my oldest daughter, might have to have her tonsels taken out. So that is going to put a dent in any plans that we might have had during that time period.

Oh well... We might be able to make it up there one year. Maybe before all my hair turns gray.
Posted By: Klasse Act Re: Fall Dragon Run 05' cabin/hotel info - 08/04/05 01:14 AM
YOu guys lookin' to share a room, have you checked the original post and talked to them about their room/rates/availbility? The reason I ask is because when we get back we can all hang out and party a little
Posted By: Klasse Act Re: Fall Dragon Run 05' cabin/hotel info - 08/09/05 11:45 PM
Enthusastic shout...."I can't wait for the Dragon Run again!"
I can't wait for somebody to step up to sharing a room, cabin, or something.
Posted By: Klasse Act Re: Fall Dragon Run 05' cabin/hotel info - 08/12/05 01:16 AM
You need to get ahold of Eric and/or Josh to make this happen
Posted By: Klasse Act Re: Fall Dragon Run 05' cabin/hotel info - 08/15/05 11:26 PM
Less that (8) weeks now! I'm trying to get some "potential" SE MI CEG-ers to get in on the large cabin, but I can't promise anything
I may just get a hotel room since SE-CEGers are sucking about this.

A friend here,, well he'll live in atlanta by then, and another friend in atlanta may come with me. One riding with me and other driving his wrx. So I reckon Ima get a hotel room and try to pick me up some TN/NC country girl and have fun without ya'll during the late hours.
No rooms for me again. I'll be heading home in the evening. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again.

YOu can be the lead car now that you've broken the car in and know the road I'd actually like to see you and Josh do that as he's a very good driver out there!
I'm gonna order hawk pads, SS lines, lowering springs, tokicos, rear sway bar, and new endlinks right shortly. I likes my escort.
Posted By: Klasse Act Re: Fall Dragon Run 05' cabin/hotel info - 08/17/05 11:49 PM
All that should keep you on the road then, right
As they say in autox, if you never hit a cone or get a DNF, then you're not pushing it hard enough. If you never spin around on the road, you're not pushing it hard enough. Contour just has screwy brakes and did have not great tires. The other day I hit the brakes in it in the rain and the back end came out like I was drifting. I replaced one wheel cylinder and not the other, so that is basically the problem.

Maybe a couple of you guys could post over in the SE MI forum where I have a post for this marked "anyone interested in the Dragon Run?" This "lighting a fire under there ass'" might actually work. BTW, the decision has been made, my Dad and I are taking his 01' C5. We're doing this because he's getting the Magnaflow exhaust installed and that will make for some good sounds down those winding roads for sure. For good measure, he also installed a K&N drop in, but that will come out next spring for an FIPK from K&N We're less than 7 weeks away, Josh and Eric, where you guys at
He should do some suspension work. And add a supa charga.

I don't think he's going to mess with the suspesion as he just cruizes the car. As far as the S/C goes, well, if I win the lotto today, I'll get it taken care of for him Those things are super $$$$$. The one for the Z06 is like $7K. I think the exhaust, upcoming FIPK and Superchip reprogrammer will net a big enough gain to make my Dad happy but for now, the Magnaflow exhaust and drop in K&N are what were bringing and I can't wait to drive the Vette down there
Well guys! Count me in for that cabin! I Dont visit the CEG boards too much so i nearly missed this meet!

Can someone give me a call and fill me in? 828 713 7964 > kenneth

I am PUMPED about running the dragon with you guys! i was actually planning one myself to arrange but it looks like i'll just crash your CEG party! (hehe i hope you guys dont mind a flashy cougar to join you on those twisties)

Kenneth
Well, I may not have a license when the time comes. Sept 7, I have to talk to the DA office and then they're gonna schedule a trial. This is for something that happened last freakin november. Ima raise hell if they take my license, cuz they could have done it while I was in statesboro and it would have been fine since I walked there most the time and didn't have a job or travel much. O, and I'm seriously not guilty of the charges. That's what makes me really mad. There are plenty of times where I speed much higher than the limit, and this time I wasn't even going as fast as he said. Yeah, I'm quite pissed. Thought it got lost in the paper work.

So, I'm not booking anything till he tells me what's up September 7. Most likely we'll end up having to get a hotel room (probably the microtel in robbinsville) because it's so close to when we're going. I'll let ya'll know.
Posted By: Klasse Act Re: Fall Dragon Run 05' cabin/hotel info - 08/29/05 11:36 PM
We had a Cougar out there with us last year and he too joined Eric in the "Blue rotor club". He car had NO2 and a custom exhaust, but I don't remember his screen name or if he even posts here. Everyone is welcome and besides, troll or not, we're all friends through the CEG Your going to want to get with the guys who want to get that big cabin because its pretty cheap, like under $100 a night and it has a jacuzzi to boot! and sleeps 8
Posted By: Klasse Act Re: Fall Dragon Run 05' cabin/hotel info - 09/06/05 12:18 PM
Just about a month away, did anyone else get a cabin where my Dad and I are stayin'
I'll have a license during the dragon run! Court date is october 24th. So me, my friend, zach, and his friend I think are getting a room at the microtel in robbinsville.

No. 4 people sharing a hotel room is cheaper than 4 people (don't see anyone else wanting to go in on anything) sharing a cabin.
Sounds like a plan to me. Definilty count at least myself and 2 other people..possibly 3. (total of 4) lol
Posted By: gulfcat Re: Fall Dragon Run 05' cabin/hotel info - 09/10/05 02:59 AM
So far, I'm planning to stay at the Microtel (need to make a reservation tomorrow). Since I'm coming from pretty far away, I'm getting in VERY late Friday & leaving fairly early Monday (which my daughter has off from school).

Anyone else bringing kids? My daughter's 12 & has enjoyed all 3 Dragon runs we've done.
Definitely get up with us at the microtel (my escort, yellow wrx, 300zx, and svt contour). If you planned to leave earlier, you could meet us around macon and head up in a group.

I know, couldn't resist! If anything changes though, meet me down there as it looks like I'm the lone SE MI CEG-er making the trip, again I don't know how to get these guys to make the trip down there, any suggestions

ONE month from this weekend, lets go while we're young
My third gear synchro is going out. O well, who needs third gear. I'll still be dere giving it hell. Somebody from here mite ride up with me but I think he's scared to bring his stock eclipse he just got up there. He did have a turbo honda but put a big hole in the block so is just making it NA again for his dad to have a DD.

Yeah Ima drive it till it dont work no more then fix it. Or if it just keeps going, fix it when I have plenty of money saved up.
Posted By: Klasse Act Re: Fall Dragon Run 05' cabin/hotel info - 09/16/05 05:32 PM
So your keeping both cars then

BTW, is anyone else staying in Tellico Plains or am I ruffing it
Noone will buy the contour for what I want for it. And yeah, keepin the escort for sure. Whenever I get the synchros fixed, it'll be a good time to put a clutch and flywheel in, but a quaife is $1400!!! So no lsd for me.

With so many people apparently staying in different spots, we need to find a meeting spot. Maybe the motorcycle shop on 129 that sells the t-shirts and goodies
Do you mean wheelers? His parking lot isn't very big. There is always room at any given place in robbinsville if you'd rather meet there. Maybe for breakfast saturday morning before we get started.
Posted By: Klasse Act Re: Fall Dragon Run 05' cabin/hotel info - 09/18/05 05:19 AM
I'm not sure what its called, sorry I mean I should seeing that I've dropped some good coin in ther everytime I stop, buying a new t-shirt and some stickers for the car and all. My plan is this, my Dad and I will be getting there around 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. We'll get our cabin, get unpacked, relax and go and get something to eat. We may make a short trip on the Cherahola, but nothing too long. On Friday morning we'll head out there, taking the Cherahola to the Dragon and hangin' out. I really wanna park on the side of the road and watch the cars/bikes come around the turn, thats really alot of fun once you've already been out there and gives you a chance to take some good shots, not as good as www.killboy.com does, but good enough
Posted By: Loco4G63 Re: Fall Dragon Run 05' cabin/hotel info - 09/18/05 02:11 PM
I really want to go!
There is the resort at the crossroads of time (intersection of 129 and 28) and then there is wheeler's shop (on 129) between the tail of the dragon and robbinsville.
Posted By: Klasse Act Re: Fall Dragon Run 05' cabin/hotel info - 09/19/05 11:29 PM
I believe its wheelers as I know for sure its on 129, left side of the road.
Well both are on 129, just one is at an intersection. Left side of the road coming from robbinsville? That would be wheelers.

THREE weeks from this weekend, its getting closer guys
Posted By: Loco4G63 Re: Fall Dragon Run 05' cabin/hotel info - 09/20/05 11:21 PM
Again.....you guys suck!
I just realized how close it's getting. I still am working on the escort. Brakes should be here monday and getting stuff from bill jenkins, though the sway bar brackets are "obselete" so he has to track those down from another dealer. I hope to have it put together by october 2nd for an autox. But I'll definitely have it together for the dragon, even if it gets a bit rushed.
Posted By: Klasse Act Re: Fall Dragon Run 05' cabin/hotel info - 09/21/05 01:12 AM
You might have to hit the junkyard for those sway bar brackets How about the bushings, you going with urethane or rubber in them
Enery suspension eueteratethaane everywhere. Guy threw a bush of poly stuff in with the used sway bar I bought from him.
Obviously this isn't everything that's going on the scort, but it gives the general idea.

You must have some funky breath!
Posted By: Klasse Act Re: Fall Dragon Run 05' cabin/hotel info - 09/23/05 11:19 PM
Ah I get it, some sugar for the "rush" out there, like you need it, the pringles so you can make those ducklips and the brakes so you can stop!

I just checked the list for whos actually going, EIGHT cars so far I keep saying this, but maybe next year when I make my 4th consecutive trip down there, someone from the SE MI CEG will finally make the trip with me. Hec"tour" is a given but he's got work related business that he can't get out of. It seems that Jim knows about this restaurant called "Bobs BBQ" and we need to meet up there for dinner on Friday night or Saturday night. I know it may be a bit of a stretch for you guys staying in Robinsville to make it out there, but then again, it is off of I-75 if I remember what Jim said, so you could just the freeway back there or just double back and take the Cherahola back
I just like gum a lot.

3 weeks to go guys and its not too late for a couple more people to show up. I'm sure Caney Creek can accomadate you or the spot that TourDeForce has picked out

Roger R...Caney Creek Village arriving Thur, leaving Sunday
Ross, Zach, Zach's friend, Mike...Microtel arriving Friday, leaving Sunday

And I'd like to remind everyone to bring FRS 2-way radios if you have them. They're easy to find a set for really cheap if you don't have them already.

Got radios.

I'll be staying at Big Johns Best Western in Sweetwater. I likes my comforts.

I'll be bringing my 2 way radio, its very helpful out there as cellphones don't work
I'll be staying in my warm bed back at home. Living 30 minutes to the Dragon has it's perks.

***CORRECTION***Less than one week from today
I hope my stuff gets here soon and I hope it stops raining so I can get it all done. I should get it done, but if not, I guess the contour can substitue for the escort.
Posted By: Klasse Act Re: Fall Dragon Run 05' cabin/hotel info - 10/07/05 01:12 AM
You've got a little over a week and I hope that [censored] storm you guys are getting isn't too severe
Got done with the front brakes today. PITA as nothing went right with them. Lines don't fit like stock, etc. O well. Got the rear to do, bleed them all, and still waiting on brackets. If I for some reason don't get brackets here by Thursday, I'll put a new wheel cylinder on the side that has the old one on the contour and it'll be somewhat OK to use up there. I have a tranny cooler I really need to put on, but no time to do it.
Posted By: Klasse Act Re: Fall Dragon Run 05' cabin/hotel info - 10/08/05 10:15 PM
Do whatever it takes to be safe Kremit
These brakes are aggravating. On escorts, there is an adjustment screw on the rear calipers to move the piston in and out. Well, I had to use a c-clamp and you're not supposed to. I reckon the caliper may be seizing.

Make that a NO, damn
Decided to get both new rear calipers since that one was seizing up. Also got new m springs for the rear because they were missing but autozone gave me the wrong ones. I'll have them bring the right ones tomorrow. If for whatever reason they don't have them, the springs aren't required, but I would like to do it right.
Still waiting on sway bar brackets. Hopefully I'll have the escort ready to go by friday.

Greetings, fellow Dragon runners!

I'm with OhioVW.com I was just strolling through the calendar on Tail of the Dragon, and saw that you guys are going to be down there this weekend on the same days we'll be there. SWEET!
This trip to The Dragon, our group will be smaller than it should be. There are only four of us that have 100% committed to go. There are a couple of others that are still on the fence.
How many of you are going to be there? Just curious.

Here's what we're bringing:
Silver '02 Jetta
Silver '04 Audi A4
White '90 Passat
Dark Red '89 GTI

Look forward to seeing you guys on the road.
Keep it safe!
Our group isn't very big either and actually won't consist of very many contours. Though unfortunately I'll probably have to end up bringing mine since the brackets for the escort seem to be in limbo. Atleast I finished the brakes, sorta. The LF was grabbing, I think it might quit as they bed in more. We'll see. It sure does stop good though.

Logan, you might could stay on the floor of our room at the microtel.

Sorry to hear that, next time check out Caney Creek I paid $167.00 for THREE nights and I'm 3.5 miles from the start of the Cherahola Skyway which not only leads into the Dragon, but is an awesome road itself! We'll probably run into you guys at Deals Gap or we'll be hanging out at the Dam hangout
Still unsure about what car I'm taking. Can't get the shifter spring to stay down on the shifter right. Sway bar brackets should be here by 2pm tomorrow. Brakes make a LOT of noise but stop great. I'll be bring my stock brake lines and tools because I don't completely trust the aftermarket lines. We'll see. I should be in the escort if all goes as planned.
The escort is done! Handles awesome, I need new tires now.

ROGER.....i saw you today! i was in a vdub group led by a yellow gti i saw you up on the edge of the lookout with a bunch of bikes. i was really disappointed in that i only saw one csvt the whole time we were there, it was a silver one but i didn't see where it was from who else went???
It sucked that we (me, zach and adam in the 300zx, gmk, and gulfcat) didn't get to meet up with roger and jim. We saw ya'll on the skyway as we were headed toward tellico plains.

I saw one CSVT, it was tropic green. I talked to the guy and he looks on here occasionally but is not a member. He had an intake and resistor mod. I think he said he's from Knoxville. He and his wife were just passing through.

I had fun. Only bad thing happened during the whole trip for me was my spark plugs got fouled (I run a bit rich). And we had to bleed adam's brakes, but that wasn't a big deal.
Posted By: TourDeForce Re: Fall Dragon Run 05' cabin/hotel info - 10/17/05 01:01 PM
Yeah, I was burnin' all over the mountains with Roger & his Crossfire. Nice car really, and Roger is definately quite the car enthusiast. I was bummed we didn't meet up with more CEGers, but we kinda just 'went' with no real plan for meeting up. We'll fix that next year, I hope.

We did get to meet up with Eric & Michelle at the dam overlook. It was great to see the newlyweds again, but I really wish we had more time to spend socializing. I'd like to see the Dragon Run participants plan one spot for lunch/dinner next time 'round so we can actually look like a group & meet more people.

We had lots of fun talking to Rogers dad as Roger went lurking over with the other cars in the area. Seeing that many NSXs in one place really had him going! Roger & Roger, it was great to meet both of you.

The whole thing has got me looking forward to next year & I already have plans for spending more time up there. There's lots more to see than just the Dragon & Skyway. The falls run was a real adventure & I was so involved in everything that I got very few pictures. No callendar for me this year.

Posted By: Klasse Act Re: Fall Dragon Run 05' cabin/hotel info - 10/17/05 03:09 PM
It was nice meeting Jim and his wife, nice people, real people I thought we passed our group, but why didn't you guys turn around when you saw us, we stopped at the next stop and waited a good long while Either way, we had another GREAT time running the Dragon, especially this year because I ran it an extra day! A meeting spot next year is a MUST I think what we need to do is set this run up even earlier, like in the spring. This way the "ball gets rollin'" earlier. I even hope to get atleast ONE SE MI CEG-er to make the trip other than myself. NO wait, I AM GOING TO GET ATLEAST ONE SE MI CEG-ER to make it. I'm sure Hec"tour" is going to make it, no doubt about it! As far as the pics go, well I took about 150 and then weeded that down to about 120, but they're not loading into clubphoto right now, so I sent them an email. I wanna post these pics because I took alot of cool "non car photos". When I do post them, they'll be over in pics and video ASAP Once again, thanks to Jim and his wife for making the FIFTEEN HOUR drive to the Dragon, makes my nine hour drive look like a trip to the store , pure enthusists IMO!
Well we didn't know ya'll were gonna stop, or we wouldda. We were headed to tellico plains for beer and then back to run the dragon. There's always next time.

No problem! It was a fun trip anyway. Spring run is always possible, but I really like the fall runs & will be there in 2006.
Posted By: Loco4G63 Re: Fall Dragon Run 05' cabin/hotel info - 10/17/05 09:57 PM
I will be there in 06....you can count on it.....probably with a new car.
I just realized I got atleast 32mpg on the way from Robbinsville back to Albany. That was with some spirited driving as well, especially anytime the 300zx passed anyone, I had to give it hell to keep up. And my escort can get into 5th gear at around 42mph, so you can imagine what it's revving at when I'm cruising at 75-80mph. I didn't think it got that good of gas mileage. Maybe the computer was pulling some fuel since it was running rich, I'm not sure.
Posted By: BiggityBon Re: Fall Dragon Run 05' cabin/hotel info - 10/18/05 03:43 AM
hey....i was there, just not in my car what day did you see the green csvt? i was there saturday and only saw a silver one. it was good to see all the awesome cars up there though maybe next time i'll go in my car, might not be the tour though!!! she'll probably be dead by then
I went for a drive up the dragon at about 10am sunday morning while everyone was sleeping at the hotel. I saw it as I was running the dragon. I went through, turned around and went back down and he was parked at the bridge by tapoco (spelling?) lodge. What time of the day were you there saturday? I think we got out on the dragon around 2pm. Did you see a redish escort gt, red 300zx (umm yeah there were more than one, that doesn't help), and two cougars?

You should have taken your car. There are a lotta people that cruise through there and never even pull off. I passed a dually and a cadillac (I followed a vette and gmk as they passed it, bouncing off my rev limiter in second) while on the dragon. We pulled off many more times to put room between us and those that wouldn't pull off so we could have fun. There are some that do pull off, and they deserve a cookie. BTW, you wouldn't be the slowest thing out there, and you can always pull off if need be.

FWIW, we had a cranberry colored C5 convertable in front of us Friday (check www.killboy.com) that held us up (doing 15-20 mph, no kidding ), that was Friday. Then check their site on Saturday where I was going just about balls out, those pics will tell a different story all together

We had a great run through. It was good to see some a' ya'll again. WTH Ross? Anyway, I can't think of anything more fun to do on a honeymoon than truck up 129.

Sti is pretty much same performing. So there is sorta a doubt. I'd go with an evo though for modding, but sti looks better.

And you know I was just joking. I think. I guess.

The EVO is the KING of sport compact cars and its going to take a miracle of a car to knock it off the mountain The only way I see the STI doing just that is more hp/torque. Have you guys ever seen/heard of the U.K. versions of these cars. Lets just say that the EVO is $90K and has over 400 hp stock .......

Right but I read about that and the STI equivelant in a mag a while ago, amazing
You can run all the chickens and hamsters in Bularia, and none of that will matter when you try to run competetivly on the Dragon. You guys can squabble all you want, but you all know damn well just about any crotch rocket with a half decent rider will spank you like a 4-year-old in K-Mart...and they're just 1-wheel-drive.

And Ross, I've got your 'Scort right here in my pants.
Yeah but we can run over the crotch rockets.

And I got your mom in my pants, eric.
