I wasn't going that fast but I got the ticket. He hit my friends in a srt4 and a turbo civic but gave me the ticket. Well I probably won't be at any meets (MAYBE make the ford show, in ocala, maybe not) any time soon. I might lose my license but I doubt that, I will be paying out da butt for it though. Ya'll can come visit me though.

I got a ticket for 50 in a 40 in my '94 Ranger. I was stoked my truck can go that fast.

Most likely you got the ticket because your car is red. I won't buy a red car.
Posted By: Kremithefrog Re: 85 in a 55 - 11/28/04 11:33 PM
Red and got wheels, and stickers,etc... Friend's srt4 is red as well. Yeah, I won't buy another red car after this one (or atleast not for a while, I do like red). I hope the judge is nice, he probably won't believe me when I say I wasn't going 85, I was speeding but not that fast. This is the wrong time for this to be happening. It sucks.

Solution: Don't speed.

Don't feel bad....I got a ticket for 100 in a 55.

Solution: NO. It didn't matter if I was speeding at all, if I was in that lane, I was getting the ticket. He clocked my friends, going faster than me, and gave me their ticket.

And hector, thing here is I'm under 21, state of georgia is stupid about 24+ over and under 21.
Posted By: 00SVTGA Re: 85 in a 55 - 11/29/04 05:36 AM
Take it from me! if you are speeding over 25mph over the posted speed limit you will lose you license for a 6 month period.if you are under the age of 21. the under 21 law is a bia bia.

there is a few ways around that.

one. if its the first ticket you have ever gotten you can knock like 12 mph off the ticket, only works on the first one. must not have any other tickets of any kind.

two. talk with a lawyer or public " pretender " to see if taking a defensive driving class will keep you from losing you license.

Three. if there is a mistake on the ticket like the wrong date or 85mph in a 35 when the offence happend in a 55 mph zone.

four. show up to court and if the arresting officer doesn't show the case can get thrown out

five. cry like a bia bia and see if the judge has merse on you.

other than that your SOL hate to say it but its the truth.

don't feel to bad i got a 120mph in a 55 zone back when i was 17.cost me my license for 12 months

One: Not first, it's second. First one was dismissed. Mom said something about judge said if I get another than the first one will come back or some crap. We'll see.

Two: Probably gonna go for community service/classes whatever. He'd be a real **** to take my license, sorta hard to get to college or back home without it. Or have a job, no job and I'll just sit in dorm drinking and smoking all next semester.

Three: Not really, it has to be a serious mistake to get outta it. Not even miscopied license number, car info, or incorrectly written date can you outta most tickets in most states.

Four: Not in georgia, they don't have to show up,,, atleast not for the first hearing anyways.
Posted By: Renee_dup1 Re: 85 in a 55 - 11/29/04 12:43 PM
Kremit, I would play this one up and tell the judge, real nicely, "Your Honor, I have a small 4 cylinder automatic Contour. I was driving behind my friends in (state what kind of cars they are and their engine sizes) and the car that the officer clocked was NOT mine. He clocked my friends. I was not going that fast, it's hard for me to go that fast in my car(embelish embelish)."

Posted By: Kremithefrog Re: 85 in a 55 - 11/29/04 01:57 PM
If it's same judge I had before, I was clocked at 83, so he knows. I didn't try denying my speed that time, because I was going that fast.
Oo and the honda's engine is smaller than mine, just has a turbo and vteeeccccc.
I pretty much know what I'm gonna say, and I hope to get to talk to the judge before the court date (I have a lot to say). Hopefully he is still in a good mood like usual. I don't expect to get this one dismissed, but I think he'll believe me this time when I say I'm not gonna speed anymore, cuz yeah a third ticket would suck. Hopefully he'll believe it when I say I don't go 24+ over either (for the most part true, I'll do an occasional jaunt, but when I get close to other vehicles I slow back down).
Heck, I even got passed by a semi saturday. Though it was raining, I was just following tail lights ahead of me going ~70 (70 limit) cuz it was pouring so hard. I think the semi driver was on crack 80+ in a semi in torrential rain, he'd probably survive the wreck though I was sorta scared when I was in front of him till I could get over.

So I'm finally going to court February 6th for this. This should be fun!!
Posted By: TourDeForce Re: 85 in a 55 - 01/13/06 05:09 AM
Best of luck. I hope the officer decides that it's not worth the trip to the courthouse....

Down here we got them fix-a-ticket places that make your traffic violations go away. Some make you pay $80 up front and then no worries. Others will hammer you for $300, but either way, no points & no pain.

I've never used one, but my oldest brother has a couple of times.

If you have those up there & want to use it, you might be able to ask the judge if you can re-scedule your court date so you can secure proper representation. They shouldn't deny you that opportunity.
Posted By: Kremithefrog Re: 85 in a 55 - 01/13/06 05:56 AM
I haven't seen those here, but it really wouldn't work in this case.

Anyways, I'm pretty sure it's gonna be dropped based on it having been over 14 months. If not, then maybe the cop won't show. If he does, I have a million questions for him. Not really worried bout it.

They're supposed to work in every case actually. I'm told that one of the tactics used is they keep a legal aid going to the court for you and forever ask for extensions until the officer doesn't show, then you're off the hook.

Another tactic I've heard used is they make a deal with the officer & judge where you get the citation & pay the fine, but no points. Therefore, no insurance increases.

I think it doesn't work here though, probably why they don't have them here.

Sorry to hear this, I guess that Escort is pretty fast
Posted By: Kremithefrog Re: 85 in a 55 - 01/18/06 01:10 AM
It was in the contour. That's how I know I definitely wasn't going as fast as my buddies.
Posted By: GilNewball Re: 85 in a 55 - 01/19/06 05:00 PM
I was pulled over doing 35 in a 25 zone. No ticket though. Bank robbery saved me (heard it over his radio as he was next to me).

A few nights ago, I had to push 90 to EVADE a FLORIDIOT from hitting me. Trying to play chicken with me though.

I HATE driving that fast.

Man..U crazy... Wish my car would go that fast...that would mean the aftermarket tuner ECU's that I keep looking at and hey...ummm would need a new speedo considering mine only goes to 110. Wait...I could just experiment on Lori's Cougar....hmmmmmm her speedo goes to one fitty

Kermit,

since it happend a while ago I am sure you have already taken care of it. But here's a tip for the future. It can never hurt you by going to court, your court costs are in the ticket fine so it won't cost you anything. I tell every person that I write to go to court. I don't care if they're 100% guilty, it can't hurt them in any way. We have a liberal judge too, and he drops tickets ALL the time for no apparent reason.

If you're in a situation where you get tagged and you are by several other vehicles, it'll prob get thrown out or reduced, just talk to the prosecuting attorney before you go before the judge.

This is it, this is the only info you well get out of me that might help you avoid a ticket! I feel dirty.....

Yeah, if you read, you'll see I said dismissed, as in I went to court and got it dismissed.

And I've been to court before and gotten a ticket dismissed, but they did charge me a court fee for that one, though I was completely guilty and told the judge (plead guilty with explanation).
