A couple of us have talked about meeting up a little before the meet. Not sure what time because no one has said anything yet. But i know atleast 3 to 4 were going to show up.

Oh the GST will be really nice man. I want one. I have heard that they are a bit quicker than the GSX. They are real fast.

Posted By: GrooveNerd Re: New guy here. - 04/26/04 08:24 AM
Hey, welcome to CEG, and congrats on the SVT! That Focus looks nice too! I live just a few miles to the east of you, out in Boring. There are a few of us in the Portland area. What color is your car? Is it stock, or are there some mods on it already?

Toby -- Dude! That sucks about your tranny! I hope you get it fixed soon.

I might make it up to HIN -- I'm not sure yet. I WILL be in Seattle tonight for the Kraftwerk concert, however! W00t!

Damn you! I want to go to that show, but with moving this week, I have no cash. Enjoy the show.

Well.... as since the last time I was on here I ran into a problem. I had a guy that was going to buy my 96 F-150 today but, he backed out on me. Therfore I dont have that contour yet. Anyways hopefully I will sell my truck really soon, before the tour sells so I can still get it.

BTW 96 F-150, 6in. sys., 3in. body, on 38's here for sale!!!
Very good price at $7,500

Call me at 503-320-4751 w/ any questions

Yea Marty it sucks bout the tranny and diff. But im gettin it rebuilt and an LSD so its all good. Also my tranny and LSD are in portland right now, getting put together. "Transmission Exchange" is where its at. On MLK Blvd somewhere? Anyways the NW needs to have a big meet come up where we all take a drive and eat, talk, etc.! Get everyone to meet up again.

Yea, welcome aboard. I work near PDX, so I am "local". No SVT, just a nice 5spd Zetec. I agree, a local "get together" is wanting. Besides, I need to start working on our Contour and less on my daily driver (GTI). Especially since I will be selling my Neon ACR this weekend, I will have more free time.
Let me know what comes up with a meeting of any sorts. Of course, being "over 50" puts me at a disadvantage in some areas and an advantage at other areas. :-) ;-)

Hhhmmm. Portland... Old guys... Microbrews?

Meanwhile, I'm needing a mechanic that does jobs on the side. I have a few parts backed up and ready to install. Any referrals?

Toby, were you up at PIR for nite time drags, as your transmission is in the shop?

Nope. Havent been outta town for a couple of months. I see u have a quaife too? Sweet. Well my tranny is up in ptown too and the quaife is being put in also. I also decided to get a new clutch kit and fly wheel. Spec stage II clutch and a spec flywheel(only 9.5lbs!!! ) Im also gettin some of thoes polyurethane motor mounts. I wonder how much of a difference i will notice...anyone know what kinda hp this will produce? If any?

Mmmmmmm...Microbrews...I might just come on down for that.

Toby, sorry about the trans! I know that feeling...believe me. You will LOVE the limited slip. I wouldn't get rid of it after that. There isn't much out there that can handle like an SVT with an LSD.

As far as a mechanic, Chris will probably be opening up his own shop by the end of the year. He's doodling around with changing professions, but I don't think he'll do it. I could probably keep him busy with Contour related work for weeks! I'll keep you posted.

Welcome new guys! Look forward to seeing you at an upcoming meet.

Hey Mike! Its been too long. Chris' wife said he got a job with a local Firestone, but I'd LOVE for him to open his own shop. SOON would be nice. I've got a set of MSDS headers, an ES motor mount insert, a torque strut, and a new front Koni to install, and a #1 misfire CEL code to fix. Chris has my office and cell numbers (and my other front Koni), but his weekends must be busy as he's not called me yet, and I'm hoping to have the parts all in before summer while I sit here with no garage and no tools.

Toby - Are you doing any new shift forks or synchros? I've had my quaife sitting on a shelf -- for is it decades now?-- waiting for a shop locally to learn/know what it is doing putting one in. How soon do you hope to have your trans rebuild finished?

Yea, right on...Micro-brews!!! I see where one of our local brew pubs is going to celebrate it's 20th B'day soon. This would be fun; even us "old guys" can work the brew. ;-)

Isn't it Bridgeport Brewing that's doing its 20th anniversary? Their big shindig is Friday, but I may be stuck in Hillsboro when festivities start at their brewpubs at 7 pm.

Any suggestions anyway?
