Well, I was just about to post up to see if anyone wanted to have a meet at the Auto Show in Portland Jan. 26-29, and I realized that I'm gonna be outta town! Grrr. Anyway, the rest of ya can still meet up if you want! Last year we met up on Saturday, around 11 am. Anyone interested?

I might be able to head down for that...

I will be going. We usually park in the Lloyd Center parking lot & then walk over to Max. A friend of mine has reacently purchased a '99 Silver Frost SVT & he will be going as well. Who else is going?

Well, looks like it wasn't too late to change my travel plans. I'll be going to the auto show on Sunday, if they get my return ticket right.

hey all. I would love to attend, but we will see, my car is out of service as of now. Nitrous backfire... . But thankfully nothing to damaging. Just a hella Warped butterfly flapper in the throttle body. Phew! Ill post some pics. But i should have it fixed by then. And then i could meet up with u all at the auto show. Ill keep in touch. Oh and by the way, i Dynoed today, with out the nitrous i ran 298hp and 170ftlbs torque. I was very pleased. Now with the nitrous i ran 325hp and 216ftlbs torque, very noticble diff in torque. But i will post pics of the damaged part and my printout of my dyno.

Okay, change again -- my travel plans are postponed, so I will plan on attending the Auto Show on Saturday, and hopefully meet up with a few people.

That sucks about your car, Toby! At least it didn't do any more damage than it did. Nice dyno numbers though!

I just had some stupid lady try and make a U-turn through my Escort last night. She turned across right in front of me -- from the right lane -- and munched-up the right and front of my car. F-ing stupid people. It still drives, but the alignment is off and it has a bit of damage on the rear fender too. Oh well, at least it wasn't my SVT.

I believe my friend and I will be trying to attend on Saturday as well. I think we will try to do like last year and park at Lloyd Center, hang out for a little while, then go to the show just a little after it opens. What do you guys think?
Marty- that sucks about your Escort. Did the lady have Insurance?
Toby- it's good to see you are still "trolling" around the boards. Like Marty said, that sucks about your car, but at least it wasn't worse. I can't wait to see your car in person.

Or not. They gave me the duty phone for the weekend

Oh well, I deserve it. I didn't have it for the holidays.

Maybe next time!

I wonder if I could swing this. it would be a nice break between the Seahawks winning the NFC Championship and the Super Bowl.

Posted By: GrooveNerd Re: Portland Auto Show, Jan 26-29 - 01/20/06 09:19 AM
Yeah, fortunately she had insurance. I just talked to her insurance company yesterday, and mine for the last few days. An adjuster's supposed to look at it today (Friday), so we'll see what they say.

Hopefully the weather'll be decent for a few days and I can wash my car -- it's filthy!

It's good to hear that everything is going okay so far.
As far as the dirty car goes, I gotta clean mine too. What time were you going to go to the Auto Show? Does my idea about parking at Lloyd Center sound okay?

-Aaron
Posted By: GrooveNerd Re: Portland Auto Show, Jan 26-29 - 01/22/06 08:28 AM
Yeah, Lloyd Center sounds fine, just the same place as previous years should work. I'm guessing it opens around 9 or 10, but if we meet at 10 or so, that should give Toby enough time to drive up without having to get up at the crack of dawn. Maybe meet around 10, hang out and talk some, then go in?

I got a call on Friday saying the ladies' insurance company is investigating to see if she had a valid policy at the time of the accident, so that blows. At least I have uninsured idiot coverage on my policy.

The same spot sounds good to me, & around 10:00 should be perfect too.

Insurance sure is a joke . If the lady didn't have a "valid policy" at the time then she should at least get a ticket for driving without insurance. I would also think that checking something like that should take a couple of minutes. Someone should be able to tell you immediately if she's covered or not. Sorry about the rant but a buddy of mine was reacently hosed in a he said/she said accident where his insurance company totally dropped the ball, & he's still fighting with there "prefered shop" about the bill. -rant off-

I hope your situation goes better.

Groovenerd: double check that you DO have UMPD coverage for the property damage, which is optional in Oregon, and not simply UMBI for bodily injuries, which is mandatory in Oregon. Many people confuse those coverages. Every time a prospective client tells me "I had full coverage, my agent says so" I ask them what that means exactly, and they go blank.

I may be able to pull off going to the show this year, instead of just showing up at the pre-show meet. Two car nut friends and I are talking each other into going. One's having the blower pulley changed on his 03 Cobra SVT this weekend.
Posted By: GrooveNerd Re: Portland Auto Show, Jan 26-29 - 01/23/06 07:48 AM
Well, that sucks. I just looked, and I only have BI and not PD coverage on my Escort. (I have both on my SVT though.) That's nice. I sure hope that lady's policy was up-to-date, otherwise I guess I'm just outta luck. Grrrrr. Thanks for the heads-up, Bob, and hopefully we'll see ya this weekend!

Off the Auto Show topic: You can still go after her individually, without a carrier defending/paying her judgment. Granted, small claims court filing fees may be good money down a hole if you did not find her employer or bank to garnish, for after you get your judgment on her. You could first see if she wants to discuss an installment plan, and while discussing that, find out where she works. Then ask her where she has a bank account, you want to see if she could write you a first check against what she owes you, maybe she'll blurt out where her account is. And you can threaten her with having her license revoked. Sometimes that gets their attention, but sometimes they're just deadbeats and already suspended.

Do you have a repair estimate from a shop? Any tow/storage bills? And mailing a demand under ORS 20.080 only costs about $5 for the certified mail/return receipt routine.
Posted By: GrooveNerd Re: Portland Auto Show, Jan 26-29 - 01/25/06 08:15 AM
I don't have an estimate or anything yet, other than that the adjuster said it's totalled. Hopefully her company will conclude that she did have coverage at the time. Thanks for mentioning some other options!

I will just be arriving at the show itself at about 11 a.m., so I will keep an eye out for you once inside.

BTW, if Woogieman is a bears fan (did I remember that right?) congrats on a fine season and the new qb.

BTW2, has anyone around Portland/Vancouver any experience w/ a shop "Fast Specialties"?
Posted By: LuckySVT Re: Portland Auto Show, Jan 26-29 - 01/28/06 02:51 AM
Hey all, unforchantly i will not be attending this meet. My throttle body is still on its way and i have no S2K. Damn, i really wanted to come, next time for sure. Take some pics!
Posted By: Woogieman Re: Portland Auto Show, Jan 26-29 - 01/28/06 04:22 AM
Hey guys.

Bob, you are correct. I am a Bears fan & thank you. I'm not sure what you mean by new QB unless your saying they need one

Toby, that sucks that you won't be there. That just means you have to come to the next meet (if I go ).

Marty & others, I will be showing up at Lloyd center around 9:45 AM. I will be with two friends. One in a Silver CSVT, & the other in a Black Scion Tc. See you there.

Woogieman: They don't need one now, I meant about Rex coming back. The team's fans knew about him, but he was news to just about everyone else.

Beowulf, hope your team wins next weekend.

Toby: Too bad we'll miss you. Wanted to talk with you some in detail about nitrous with an S2000.

Marty: Will Ford's area have a concept car section, where you could show your special body-worked escort?

Shotwell: What's that duty number? Can we call to harass you?

Anyone heard from Qbert or ShaunG recently?

Wow, that's some tweaked throttle body there! Ouch! Glad it wasn't anything worse than that anyway.

Yeah, so I got to Lloyd Center about an hour late, (around 11) on Saturday, and didn't see anyone at the meeting spot. I waited around for a while, then went and got some food. I drove by the show, and there was a huge line of traffic waiting to get into their parking lot, so I figured I'd just come back later on when it would hopefully not be so busy. I got back about 7pm and stayed 'til close at 10.

Oh well, hopefully the next meet'll work out. Sorry if I missed anyone who actually was there at 10!

Hey Guys, we got there a little after 9:30AM. It was poring down rain so we decided that if no one got there by 10AM we would move to the Theater parking lot because it's closer to the MAX. When no one showed we moved. We got in to the Car Show around 10:15AM & stayed until just after 3PM.

We took a few pictures of our cars in the parking lot at Lloyd Center & if anyone wants to host them I can e-mail them to ya. They aren't anything special, but if your curious let me know. Next time I will try to exchange cell phone numbers with someone so we can keep each other informed. Sorry about the mix-up.
