Ok, I know what it is...it's Chicago traffic. It'll take you just as long to get to Chicago as it will take me.

Need to know shortcuts. Joe doesn't live that far from actual Chicago...he is just lazy.

Ha ha ha, you guys are something. As of now, it is going to happen. The target is mid to late August, when the weather here in Chi-Town is nice and mild.

Even if it ends up being just the CCEG and a few guys outside of Chicago, it is going to happen.
Posted By: Davo Re: Chi-Town '03 - 11/16/02 10:37 AM
Don't worry about it, Milan....I'm game!!!

Guys/Gals:

It is offical, there will definately be a National Meet here in Chicago next summer!!!

Spring Zing has moved to Omaha, and Chi-Town '03 is going to be our National Meet.

Chi-Town '03 will take place from 8/14/03 to 8/17/03, Thursday through Sunday....

I am beyond excited to be put in this situation! Although there is a lot of work to be done, I can promise you that this will be a meet to remember...

I hope that many of you will attend, and am looking forward to seeing you!

Posted By: Quicksilver_dup1 Re: Chi-Town '03 - 12/05/02 05:03 PM
As of now we are still setting up a committee to work on this. One thing is for sure, and that is that it is definatelly going to happen guys.

The only concrete thing I can tell you is that the Meet will take place from 8/14/03 to 8/17/03.

What this means is that some of the guys that cannot go to SZ can perhaps come to Chicago for the National Meet.

For the Moderators, if you can please spread the word to your respective forums...

The dates are different because the banner is only a prototype, and is not finalized yet.

The dates aren't that important seeing as I'll be in town for both sets of dates

Man, I can't wait. Thanks again Milan for setting this up.

Dates, fees and schedule of events should be done by the end of January-first week of February...

You will be able to start sending your fees at that time.

What will the money be for? Banquet? Track time? Go-Karting? BEER???

I think BEER is on you, but us CEG'ers like to share! Fees are for banquet, t-shirts, and all the other goodies that go along with the meet. I would really like to come. We'll see what happens.

As a few of us pointed out before, this meet is about THE CONTOUR/MYSTIQUE. It is not a meet for the SVT, for the SE, for the GL, XL, XXL, XGL, GTR-Type R or whatever else... It is a meet for the Contour, period. Do not feel like you will not belong if your car is not modded beyond recognition. This is not the intent for sure.

I hope the rest of you that read this, and are in a similar situation heed my advice. Come and meet the people in this club, and talk to some of the greatest car enthusiasts in America. Don't worry about who has what done to their cars. And who knows, you may even learn something new while you are here. Consider it your mini vacation this year.

Chicago is huge, so you will have ample time to enjoy America's heartland, and all the culture that Chicago offers. Think of it as a relaxing time, instead of a competition of who's who... (of course, there WILL be shows that will do just that... )

Just come on over guys, you won't regret it!

LOL, this is so strange. You know, I was once a Moderator in the old Chicago Forum. I lost that position due to my rather liberal take on "Exotic Clubs"... Anyway, yes there are quite a few here and there.
Posted By: AirKnight Re: Chi-Town '03 - 01/13/03 08:18 AM

to the strip clubs. to hotel. That place looks crazy, great prices if you get 4 people. I'm taking an asumption here but i'd imagine I would room with Dom sence we know each other already. But would there be smaller rooms aval? Just curious, of not ill just have to save up a few more bucks

But any smaller rooms at a lesser rate?

As of now that is the only hotel we have booked. If we have to, we will book smaller = cheaper hotels. But the idea is to have everyone there together, along with the Banquet. This way if anyone gets a bit tipsy, they go to their room, not drive.

Plus you get home fast!

My wife and I are considering it for Cougarfest because of the 20 hours drive one way. If we have enough money we just may do it that way. Go to cougarfest one day and the beach and rafting another and fly home.

So, what's the schedule of events? And what's the address of that hotel? I need to find the closest Delta Sonic to use my discounted employee carwash.

The closest Delta Sonic would be about 10-15 away on Ogden Ave, Downers Grove, IL. Since you asked.

Works for me, $3 carwash is a good deal.

Well, I don't think it has been formally added to the schedule of events, BUT, I will be running a car show at a Tweeter store in Schaumburg (about 15-20 minutes north of the hotel) on Sunday the 17th. The show will be sanctioned by SLAP, the Sound, Looks, and Performance association. I think it would be awesome to have a line of CEG'ers at the show that day.

Prizes will include gift certificates to Tweeter for various "Best of" winners, plus last year the club with the best participation in the car show won a $100 gift certificate to Award Authority to use for club awards or trophies for a car show. I am not sure yet if the Award Authority gc is still offered, but it would be cool to see all the CEG'ers there to try and get it.

Visit www.slapshow.com for more info.

HA! I wish! The owners are some cheap people and they don't even want to give out discounted wash to employees. I also have to find out if it's $3 in Chicago too because the price might be different. Anyway, I have to use one pay stub for each discount, and they're only good for one month. So, I can help 3 other people out possibly.

The "Meet HQ" Embassy Suites hotel is right off of I-88, Lombard IL, Highland Ave exit, about 20 miles west of Chicago's 'Loop' Downtown.

For budget conscious members, there are cheaper options like Red Roof, LaQuinta, Motel 6, Extended Stay, and Days Inn nearby.

There are two big malls, Yorktown for the middle class and OakBrook, for richy rich folks.

The Delta Sonic Touchless car wash is $7.50 for automatic wash, workers dry your car.

Hotel rates are in this thread somewhere. The final Hotel info will be posted soon.

Gonna be a good old time guys!

PS: There is another carwash about a mile away. It is DIY, and it costs like 2 bucks to wash a car...

Do you know how much they charge for a Super Kiss there? I do not let the dryer's drive my car ever, they have these little tricks that makes you think they're doing a good job while they're not even drying your car.
Posted By: Quicksilver_dup1 Re: Chi-Town '03 - 02/28/03 04:42 PM
I have reserved 15 rooms for us. 10 more rooms are on reserve. They are gonna be in a single block, so we are all gonna be in the same area.

When I come back to Chicago next week I am gonna finalize some arrangements, and you guys can start booking your rooms.

The best way to do this is to find fellow CEGers in your area who want to room with you, and then one of you calls and books the room.

LOL, if you want a King Size room all for yourself, more power to ya!!

Lastly, I was told that we will never run out of rooms. The 15 rooms must be filled up by a certain date. If they all fill up we go to the reserve rooms. If those fill up, they will still give us rooms in the same block, though they may be at a higher rate.

Soooooooo, once I post the info, my advice is to snatch your rooms quickly.

So does anyone know how many other of my fellow Contour Girls will be attending? I will be there Milan, so let me know when you get a chance. It's cheaper to share--no leghumpers please! So seriously, do you know of any other girls other than myself that will be attending? Thanks.
Posted By: AirKnight Re: Chi-Town '03 - 03/01/03 04:17 AM
You can share a room with me as long as I get the bed and you either share the bed or stay on the floor.
Posted By: Thinkmoto Re: Chi-Town '03 - 03/01/03 03:40 PM
I'd say share a room with me considering I'm gonna get a king room. I'm not sure if the girl is coming along so you could share with me but then again alot of peeps from WI are coming so we'll probably have no room available. OH by the way we'll have some ladies with us so no need to worry about leg humpers or that stuff
Posted By: Quicksilver_dup1 Re: Chi-Town '03 - 03/02/03 04:11 AM

I say the more girls the merrier! We don't have enough female participants at these massive meets. It would be cool to have a table or two of our die-hard CEGer babes...

Most of NE Illinois is flat, flat, flat. But there are a few nice scenic roads, like Lower Wacker Drive!

Why I ask is that at Blackhawk farms on Sunday they are having a road course race that day.

Also which dragstrip, Route 66 is open for test and tune only on Tuesday, but I could be wrong.

won't be route 66 cause we would have to pay too much money to rent the track out for a day I'm working on a couple of other tracks. as info is known about them it will be posted unless you got ~$4,000 for us to use Route 66 (it is a very nice track but not that nice for me to shell out that kind of money)

Is there anyone that would like to share a room with me? If I could get 2 or 3 or even 4 other people to go in on a room with me that would be really nice. I can't afford to have a room by myself. Get back to me on this thread or else PM me.

Thanks for setting all this up guys!

If i'm not in summer school I will drive to Chicago :-D. If I am in summer school I'll see about flying in - hopefully I can swing something.

It would take me two days of driving to get there but I'm sure it would be worth it if I can get a CEG Caravan going here.

Anybody in NorCal or SoCal planning on going send me a PM so we can Caravan there. I won't know if I can make it till summer though.

Gonna run about $65 for 2 runs with A/F reading.

I am running a SLAP-sanctioned Car show, SQ competition and SPL competition about 15-20 minutes away from the main hotel where the meet will be. The SLAP event will be on Sunday morning, registration from 8-11 AM.

For more information, please visit the SLAP website.

Hey, you have to watch the forums for information, no one really sends anything out. Also, look in W. Great Lakes, for IN/MI people, there are quite a few coming.
Ok I have a HUGE FIGGIN dilema!! I live 35 ft from Woodward Ave. which is host to the largest single day car show in the world. "Woodward Dream Cruise." August 16!! A lot of us in SE MI are SO torn between the two events. I really don't know what to do, and the thing is myself and a few others probably won't wanna make the decision until August 1. Somebody peep in...the dreamcruise is so tight, park car, drink, and watch all the nice cars! Somebody chime in...
We had this comment a few times, and all I can say is that it is very unfortunate that the two events happened to fall on the same weekend. You are gonna have to make a personal choice between seeing strangers cars or fellow CEGers you always chat on here with.

However, and if this means anything, it is NOT all about the cars, it is all the people you get to meet. You finally get to put a face behind the names on here...

It is up to you, but of course I hope that you do come.

This also applies to the entire area and all the people who are facing the same dilemma. I once again do regret that the two events happened to be on the same weekend, but trust me, the dates were picked for a reason.

What is that about Matt?
He was making the mad face because it is not "SZ" in Chicago--it is National Meet.

I just looked through all of th threads and it looks like it's going to be a blast. I will definitely be there. I'll be there late Thursday if not early Friday. It will take me about 6 hours to get there. For any b-ball fans other than skrilla187, I will be schooling you guys . You can't stop me lol. Yes skrilla18, I will share the room with you. I can't afford the room price also due to being a poor college student.

Sounds great. I am so pumped to be going. It sounds like it will be mad fun. I'm trying to save up all my money now for this. Hard being a college student.

Anyone coming accross I-80 from points west, Here is a little detour you might want to take. I have some Chicago PCA friends who drive the hour+ out to starved rock mostly for this section of road. BTW 55mph limit, state recomended 25-40. Enjoy, but make sure loads are securely stowed.

Don't worry about it Hector... we will not be coming. I will leave the ad in my sig though.

I will just leave it at that, I feel enough damage has been done.

Not by you Hector, please don't take it that way. We are cool! Just some issues that a few of us need to work out, thats all.
