Okay, lets get this thread re-started without the other comments. If you don't have anything to contribute, then don't reply. I personally am working on a T3/T4 setup for my 3.0 swap, so I am interested as well.

thanks, that other thread was getting stupid quick.

many people have used the t3/t4. Without the specs however...it is hard to get any answer.

So mamisano...what's your Q.

and remember the more specific you can be with everything...the better the answers will be from the members of CEG.

how high are you looking to rev the engine?
how much power are you chasing?

take a look at a gt35r or maybe a to4z.

To rich for me at this time. The GT35R is well north of $1000. I am looking to get a T3/T4 hybrid, 60 Trim, and .63 on the exhaust side. Want to spool quick (hence the .63) and make ~300whp on a 3.0.

What is a T04z?

I'd go with the .86 A/R housing. It spools up more then quick enough on the 3L and makes a better powerband for our chassis.

Tom's been running one for years now.

.82 you mean...right?

Yeah, I have been in contact with Tom for the past few weeks. He mentioned that the .63 would be a better choice for quicker spool up, highway milage, etc. If I wanted to go higher power, then he advised to go with the .82.

Definately go w/ the .82 A/R for the 3L. The quicker spool is useless in this application. Tom's been spinning the wheels like crazy even w/ the .82 A/R.

Now I believe I qualified that statement by saying that .63 on a 3L would be spooling below 2000 rpm right? I also said that it would restrict high end breathing but would work very well for huge midrange torque. It'd be all over at about 6000 rpm.
Then I said that .82 was good because I felt the 3L had enough torque already for normal street/strip cars.
That said, the .62 stage 3 turbine with the escape cams would generate HUGE torque and would prove really nice with drag radials at the srip for a great 1/4 mile car.

We'll see...won't we. (That's my set-up)

Which one, I assume you mean the housing is .63? What T4 compressor does it have? What stage turbine wheel?
Posted By: stilov Re: Garret T3/T4 Turbo II - 11/10/05 03:20 AM
yes .63 housing, 3.0 cams, stage 3 wheel .57 trim I am using MSDS modded headers ad a 750 cfm spearco IC core.

Nice.

Why'd you go with that particular turbo...if you don't mind my asking?
Posted By: stilov Re: Garret T3/T4 Turbo II - 11/10/05 03:22 PM
pretty much the price...I thought and thought about going the .82, but just didn't...also I am at such a high altitude and got so much lag before...I thought I would try the .63 housing.

(I believe Jim has the same turbo)
