Well it all started with a 99 3.0 Duratec motor that we dropped into my '95 Contour SE.

Everything went well, the motor ran fine.
We had a electric waterpump off a Boss Hoss BBC motorcycle.

The car would run up to the M and the fans would kick on and lower itself.
At first if you would let it sit and idle it would be fine.
But if you took it for a couple mile spin, pull it back in the shop and let it idle the temp would raise above M and keep going towards red.
Once the cooling fans would kick in you know it would be hell breaking lose, the overflow resivore would expand w/ the coolant eventually pushing it out the cap of it and the temp gauge would still be elevating towards red.

Well we thought this was a head gasket/cracked head problem because we replaced one of the heads and head gasket in order to get the top motor mount in.

So we pulled the motor and got another '99 motor.
This time we pulled both heads, inspected them, replaced both headgaskets and all other gaskets involved with that.

We got the motor put in, everything was running smooth until last night it did the same thing, after about a 2mile drive or so, came back to the shop and left it idle and the fans spun and then it started overheating.

Please dont sit here and point the finger at me because I did a pre '01 swap.
i know theres some who did swaps w/o the 01+ motors..
Im just looking for valuable information, no flame wars.

Yeah, but no where in your post are there any question marks(?)
?????

A car's cooling system is exponentially larger in volume and the amount of total heat it needs to exchange then a small motorcycle engine. Are you sure you are not seriously overwhelming that small electric pump?

I beleive the Boss Hoss has a 350 V8 in it. I'd imagaine that if it can pass enough coolant for that our 3.0L should be no problem

Yea, its off a Boss Hoss Motorcycle which they put Small block chevy and Bigblock (502) chevy engines in.
So I'm pretty sure if it can pass water quickly and effianctly (sp) for that itll do it for the 3.0.

Anyways, figured out the problem.. Finally.

When the cooling fans would kick on it would short out the waterpump and cause it to quit running, so after the fans kicked on the coolant stopped and it just kept on rasing.

Thanks anyways!
