Hey I wanted to ask anyone who has bought from LQK, how far they will ship the engines. I was going to call them today but I lost my chance and its to late now, so I wanted to get the advice from my fellow CEGers. I am just trying to figure out my options for my new engine.

Thanks

IIRC, they don't ship motors.

Well there is one in Northern CA and that would ship to Central CA, so I believe they ship just trying to find out how far they will go.

They ship to shops and garages for free. I got them to deliver mine from Stockton to a dude's cabinet shop in Santa Clara next to SJO airport. From the time they took my credit card till the time they shipped it was about two weeks.

I bought mine through an ebay auction from them. It was free for a pick-up for the location where the engine is at. And they have multiple facilities around the US that they would [censored] to for an additional $100. Thats how I've seen them run through ebay, might be different for non-auction items.

For a hundred bucks, I would [censored] anywhere.

Well LQK is closed on the weekends... But i called up another salvage yard and got their price down to $500 for a Ford Taurus 2001, the engine comes without the air compressor and alternator, it has 11k on the motor and has a 100 day warranty. The place is about 100 miles away from my house, and they close at 3:00pm.

What should I do?

Leave right now and get there in an hour and a half, buy the engine that I wont install for another month?

Or wait it out and call LQK on Monday and talk to them about shipping their engines?

I got mine with 27,000 miles for $450 plus tax from the LKQ in Stockton. It depends on how comfortable you are with mileage. 11,000 miles would be great, but I'm not going to cry with my high mileage block.

I got mine for 350 shipped with 2k miles on it.

I have started it a couple times though.

Did you get that from a yard along the Wasatch Front?
Posted By: posthuman63t Re: Buying a LQK Engine Question - 04/01/06 10:05 PM
I meant ship, not [censored] in my previous post...hehe.

Got my 03' Taurus engine with under 10k for $340, give or take $10. (dont remember exactly)

Ya I decided that baseball was on today and watching the first season of 24 was more important then rushing over to the salvage yard. I am going to call LQK and ask them about this 03 Taurus engine they have for 450 with 9k on the mileage category then 33k in the description, so I need to get that cleared up. Hopefully its only 9k on the motor, I wish there was a way to check that.

Does anyone know if LQK will take lower offers for engines or are they pretty set on what prices they have?

Actually there is an LKQ that they shipped it to just south of the Provo/Orem area. I have always like LKQ.

I haven't bought anything from them like an engine, but the few small experiences I've had with them were good. But they are a big professional national operation, and don't take offers in my experience.

On some of the smaller stuff...they did negotiate with me...not sure though it was a couple years ago.

LQK doesnt have a good selection of low mileage engines right now from what I searched.

And to answer my own shipping question; LQK ships to the regions like CA I could get free shipping from anywhere in the Las Vegas region. Anything else runs around $150 for shipping.
