I am replacing the front rotors (260mm) on my 1997 contour and I am planning to order them from BAT. Has anyone used the "econo rotors" fron BAT. Is it worth the extra cost for the more expensive EBC rotors (about $34 total for two)?

Like all of us my funds are limited and I'm trying to make sure I have enough to buy all my christmas presents without using the credit card too much I plan to pair the rotors with the Mintek A/F pads.

I also notice that BAT sells replacement pins, bushings, and springs for the front calipers. Do these generally need to be replaced or is this more of a "nice to have"?

I do not race the car. I usually drive around 75mph on highways and slower around the city so I am looking for a good low temp street configuration.

I also plan to replace the rear drum brakes and flush the brake fluid as it's been a couple of years - shame on me.

If you're gonna put on hi-po pads you don't watch to use econo-crapbox-rotors cos they'll warp to hell.

persoanlly I do not waste my money on "econo" rotor, the brakes are the one thing that stop you why would you want to go cheap, tires are the same thing ...

plus the cheap rotors tend to rust onto the hub, there is a huge difference between American made and over seas made rotors

What size are your rear drums? BAT offers a 4-corner kit for the 8" drum-equipped cars. (95, 96, and some 97 year cars).

It's $115 for the premium rotors, Mintex A/F pads, and Raybestos shoes. Darn good deal, if you ask me, and if it works for you.

I bought their 4-disc brake kit for $189, and I've been more than pleased with it. Proper rotor seasoning and pad bedding is a must, but I've had no "warping" or other issues, and I'm a pretty aggressive driver. Unfortunately, I can't speak for the Econos.

I don't know how many miles you have, but on the front caliper, I would replace the caliper slide pin bushings, for sure. The pins, I was able to clean off real well and then relubricate, and the springs were still fine. The judder I was getting before the job disappeared, which I'm pretty sure can be attributed to the bushings.
