After the recent storms in So Cal (which dropped about 20 inches of rain), I have been having a brake grind issue. I only tend to get a grind sound while car is in motion, and occasionally when applying the brake. The brake grind is does not happen at all times, only occaisionally. I have inspected the pads, the hoses and even the fluid and all seems okay.

Does anyone have a suggestion or two?

possibly wheel bearings.

Would the dirt and Mud I had to make my way through be a possible cause? I did get stuck in the mud in my driveway.

If it is wheel bearings, what other symptoms do I want to look out for?

Wheel bearings. Good call Rara!

Your bearings MIGHT eventually start to howl at speed. By that time they're BIG TIME messed up & may be eating into the hubs & whatnot.

Some might suggest you re-pack the bearings, but for the price, and since you've been in a really messy spot, clean out all the old grease & mud from the hubs and install new bearings.

The wheel bearings on the Contour are not serviceable, you can't repack them. Once they're done, they're scrap. I should know, my company made them for Ford.

I have some new ones if you need them. PM me.
