I use a hydro zetec in a RWD platform.
The stock single piece steel manifold shrouds about 20% of the bottom of the port in the header flange.
I realise that most of the flow is in the upper reion of the exhaust port.
Is there is "big bore" gasket for any Zetec available in the aftermarket?
The standard piece will have compromised sealing if modified.
TIA.

???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Might get a better response if you explain!

Muffler shop can weld on a different flange, any setup you want.

Call me crazy, is this for a kit car with a Zetec?
Last time I checked, my Contour was not RWD

I wish it was. I probably could do crazy burnouts.

Ayup. 96 contour block and management into a seven clone.
1450 lb with driver. .
So what do you guys with aftermarket headers use then?
What do the Focus people use?
I realise that the contique platform seems to be underrepresented in the aftermarket.

any Idea how much your car weighs??? try about double that + or - a few pounds.... I can do good burnouts in mine and know with the same thing in a MUCH MUCH ligher car it would do even better.

The wheels break loose all the time now.

Se7en,
CHeck with Burton-power or Dunnell Engines(both in UK) I think they can help you out.

i was replying to hector talking about having RWD, i know plenty of cars with 200hp and RWD with ATX (of course you can do burnouts with a mtx ) , say a v6 mustang, but it can't do what i would call crazy burnouts.

Okay, what is your point? Just having a little fun.

Cheers, ohsigmachi.
I ordered a cams kit from Burtonpower but so far the've been noseeums. It's been a month. I will wait and see how prompt they'll be.They did not advertise bigbore gaskets in the Catalog.
Dunnell and Raceline play with the hydro zetec but don't have a reputation for being prompt with US customers.

The car does lousy burnouts...no weight on the rear.
Very interesting in the wet.

you have a killer car. I wish i had one of those.

Did you talk with Burton personally or just check their website? cause i am pretty sure i heard some mention of this on the Mondeo forums...
Posted By: se7en Re: exhaust manifold gasket. - 12/14/02 02:20 PM
Smoothy, the mondy forums sounds like a good idea. I checked their print catalog. I do have acess to Burtonpower via relatives that live in London. I have personally visited their shop in Essex (Ford country ). Their machining/building skills appear to support the business, rather than selling goodies. The same applies to Dunnel and Raceline AFAIK.

What made you choose the Zetec platform? Cost?
Posted By: Loco4G63 Re: exhaust manifold gasket. - 12/14/02 04:46 PM
Zetec is pretty easy to modify.

I have been doing and it has been pretty easy. Well not really but I would like to think it so I don't get pissed off at the car and get rid of it.

Yay!

The kit was set up for a zetec... headers, bellhousing adapter, exit hole for the header, mount kit.
The size of the zetec. The other alternative would be the pinto xflow.
The hydro zetec is ok for mods, but the aftermarket is weak in the US for the contour platform.. Crane were not interested in grinding cams for me...No market.
The focus platform on the other hand has a lot more aftermarket interest.

Get a set of Crower cams (Focus)

Hector, I'd have to convert to mechanical lifters, valves and pistons.
I should have a Kent cam kit on the way from Burtonpower.
When I was sourcing a Zetec for this kit, I could not find a ZX3(focus), but I came across several ZX2 (escort).I was advised to stay away from the ZX2 becuse the waterpump is offset on the block. There is very little room towards the nose on a seven.
The Contour is the easiest Zetec to fit.

Too bad you could not just fit a turbo setup under there and not have to worry about all this N/A stuff.

That is interesting. The 98+ (like mine) have the Zetec VCT; the same as the one in the ZX2.

Hector, I should specify 97 and older Contour Zetec.

Ausgedient, The thing is already a cheek clencher.
