Yay me! I just had the stupidest idea ever!

But would it work?

The plan: NOS dry kit with the spray going into the knob for the IAT sensor in the CTA intake.

Is it too far away from the TB to make it worth it? I just thought maybe since it's there and not being used, ya know...
If I'm stupid, just come along, tell me why this won't work, slap me, and move on.

I don't see why it wouldn't work. You may run into problems when the computer senses the IAT getting cold. You may make it even throw a code by taking it out of range (too cold). Your N2O wouldn't be instant-on like it would be if it were plumbed into the manifold. You would have to wait the .5 sec or so until it reached the TB and was sucked in with the rest of the air. It will be getting warmer as it moves along also.

You could have a puddling issue also.

I just really wanted to say what I thought about the IAT. I will now step aside and watch for other responses.

Well, with me having a 2000, the IAT is in the MAF, so the N20 would be dumped after the IAT. Good point on the delay, though. Then again, I have an ATX, so I'm used to delays...

You wouldn't get the full effect of the n2o.
When i tried to inject my nitrous 14 inches before the throttle body i wasn't getting a very big kick, and i could feel where the nitrous was hitting the CTA intake and cooling it.

Thanks for the input. Are you dumping into the fuel rail? I'd also like to see some pics of your set-up if you have any.

so... would it be possible to run a NOS line of some sort around an intake, and have a very cold air intake and have NOS (though slightly warmer by time it is dumped into manifold)? anybody ever use dry ice to cool an intake? just ideas for cold air,, probably stupid ideas

I would not suggest the use of dry ice to cool the intake.

My nitrous jet is mounted on the elbow piece of the CTA intake, exactly 6.5 inches from the throttle body.

Instantaneous kick when the nitrous engages.
Plus it is injecting the nitrous straight down into the throttle body.

Nitrous Express has a intercooler that uses nitrous to cool the engine compartment.
