searched and didnt find a clear answer. so heres the deal ... 3l uim and lim on a 96 se. the car has 120,000 miles on it and i plan on rebuilding the uim/lim but i can pick up a used 3l uim/lim from a 98 sable for $75. will there be any benefits to "upgrading" from the 2.5 manifolds?

no

i think there would be a bennefit since the 3l uim has a more direct flow path with less bends. i have one that i need to install but i have a some maintenance to do on my car. plus i think i might have to switch to a 3L t.b.

It is a smart thing to do for a non-SVT. For one thing the 3L UIM can be hand ported beyond what an SE manifold will flow.

found that in a previous post just checkin if someone has done it

The bends in the split port manifold have very little effect on air flow, because these are dry manifolds. If they where wet manifolds then it would be a problem. The reason bend in a wet manifold cause problems is because they cause atomized fuel to come out of suspension and cause a poor burn.

Oh, it must be true, you obviously know more than me about making power in a duratec.....
Next time don't post a question you already know the answer to.

your right i know nothing about this engine, i know that the svt uim/lim is a good upgrade for the se and i read in a previous post the 3l manifold would be an upgrade and much cheaper than the svt. the last post was in like 2004 so i was seeking more information/ advice

who cares... its wrong. If you want more airflow get an SVT UIM.
