I recently purchased a Trubendz Borla resonated cat back exhaust system and dropped it + my car off at the exhaust shop today to get it installed, and I receive a call telling me that the Borla muffler is too wide to fit in the heatshield area.

What's the deal? Has anyone had this problem? Does this exhaust shop just suck? Did they send me the wrong sized muffler? I'm going to contact Trubendz on Monday, but until then any input would be appreciated.

I bought the non-resonated with the magnaflow. As far as I'm concerned, most mufflers (of the square ones) are basically the same in dimension. I installed my exhaust myself and there is plenty of room for the muffler to ft, there is even more room to use if I needed it. I'd go and check it out for youself, because these are custom made exhausts, made to fit the Contour. Maybe they are retarded and are putting it in wrong, or maybe they are going to try to charge you for doing extensive modifications. Like I said, go and look for yourself. If they say no, then do it yourself. Providing you have jack stands, and the 2 bolts on the flange (after the cat) come off easy, It shouldn't take more than 1-2 hours. That includes the time needed to straightening the tips out perfectly.

Another shop with bonehead mechanics. A shop told me the same thing, same kit. It will fit, they must bend the heat shield.

Tell them Contour.org officially says they suck at doing their job

Wait till after they're done though, unless you want to find a handful of marbles shoved in your muffler or something

I did see it myself when they put the car up on the rack. It was a VERY tight fit, the heatshield would have to be bent, but they were saying that there is supposed to be room in between the heatshield and the exhaust so that it can move around. As it is now, the muffler would either be touching or very near to touching the sides/top of heatshield and bang into it all the time while driving.

Same thing happened when I put my Trubendz exhaust on. The guy just bent the heat shield a little bit and it was fine. Get us a sound clip after he's done.

It took mine 2 and a half weeks...(1 week to build it and send it, and 1 week for it to arrive) mine took an extra half week because an order of tips they had that were suppose to arrive never showed so they had to order from a 2nd source. You should expect 2 weeks from when you oder it...

(If you order it on the 16th, you should have it on the 27th)

About a week and a half. I assume it will be longer for you because you live in Cali and they are out of Florida.

Mine took about a week and a half. I'll be bringing a used Borla Muffler to SZ (Part trade or Sale) Sometimes my new resonator touches against the heatshield towards the back, where it bends to avoid the gas tank. I need to find some way to fix that before SZ..

The only problem I had with mine was that it didn't line up perfect in the back, but I also installed it myself and I could have been part of the problem.

I did mine myself too. It just takes a little time. I actually had to heat and bend one of my hangers for it to sit perfect.

LMAO, not everyone can be as cool as us though! Although mine doesn't fit perfect just yet, i am gonna heat up and tweak my exhaust hanger to get it just right.

ya its alot cheaper. I dont know about the results but i hear its equal to a borla kit. Trubendz service is unbeatable as well.
