Hey! The light behind my LCD clock died a few weeks ago.
So I can't read the time at night. Looks like another
dealer only part..sigh. Very strang 12v bulb with green plastic cover, Or is it 12Volts? Anyways, I lost it!..MUHAHHA

So I'm thinking the heck with buying another one! I'll
just Mod in my own light! Okay guys what would it take for
me to put in a blue light? What sort of resistors do I
need for a job like this? I've got one of those 6Volt Blue
LED's or was it 5V?..Errmm that one from RadioShack! Sorry If I sound a little out of it, the drugs are kicking in..J/k

So I'll take the Blue Led and Use a few resistors and weld those to the circut board that holds the light..

Sounds good so far?

I've got 1 5Volt 5MM Blue Led.
I don't have any 330's resistors around the house.
But I do have some 470's. Yellow/Purple/Brown/Gold
I'm not sure what the Gold at 5% tolerance would do?

Should I just point the Led to the side or cut the tip off?

I used the 470K Ohms resistor and the light is perfect!
Thank you for those pictures and showing me where the
positive side was along the 2 dotted holes. This really
saved me a bunch of time! Man it looks so SWEET! It�??s
just like indiglow 100%! ...ahh just right!

I had that spot problem like you at first. I fixed this by
pointing the LED down until I could no longer see the
spot behind the LCD. Along the bottom it looked like
there was a bright green strip because of the LED angled
almost straight down. But once it's behind the interior
frame you can't see this.

Over all this took me 1hour and 30 minutes.
I�??ve been behind this area once before so it was
not hard to find all off those hidden screws this
time around. I even did this in the dark at 1AM in
the morning. This was so easy I feel cheated.

I'll have to try that bending down thing. I clipped the bulb a bit, and it looks good, but there's still a little bit of difference in brightness where the LED is behind the clock.

I don't have any night shoots. The blue just started to flicker like crazy and so I've replaced it with a green LED in my parts bucket.

Just flatten the top of the led with some sandpaper. It'll diffuse that nice dot you speak of. I did it with my car but abandoned the whole thing because I didnt have the expertise in wiring all those leds to match it
