A regular top post red top or yellow top fits fine. If you can, try to find an orange top; it's the same as the red top, but the posts are reversed and therefore easier to mount in a Contour.

ChattavegasSE, that doesn't really tell him anything. He can't just grab any Optima off the shelf. Model number would be good.

I had the part number somewheres....

...but dang I can't find it now. Top post Optimas will fit, but rear post or reversed post would be the best way to go.

If you get the red top, it gives you a reason to replace the terminals.

I may replace my battery soon enough w/ an Optima.

as I keep saying, just get a regular motocraft battary. Insanly long warrenty...last a looooooong time (mine went 12 years in temps ranging from -50 to 100 above). Sounded good for my system as well.

i imagine he wants the optima cause its a deep cycle style battery and can be drained and charged almost infanatly.

You're thinking of the Optima Yellowtop. Red top is a standard starting battery.
