I had that alarm (2.5 not 3.5 though, no remote start). Loved it, and seriously miss it since it was sold with the car.

Yeah, I love it. I don't have the remote start hooked up though. Found it would be too difficult with PATS and clutch bypass and whatnot. Besides, remote start is overrated.

remote start over rated? not by me! i love it.

I still want a Viper 791x
Posted By: BlackE1 Re: Car Alarm - 04/05/06 10:59 PM
is it true that clifford and viper are made by the same company?

Directed Electronics owns like everything.

Check em out here.

It's true that they are owned by the same company. But most of cliffords stuff is still made by Clifford, seperate from Viper. However, that 2-way transponder clifford is just a viper alarm in carbon fiber clothing. Nothing more. Clifford is coming out with a new 2-way alarm, but it's still trying to get certifications and stuff. And it won't be cheap. But it incorperates everything, remote start, tilt sensors, proximity sensors, remote windows, etc.

Then get a pro to hook it up for ya. Far from overated in my opinion.

The installers at Best Buy are not allowed to install a remote starter on any MTX because its agonist the law to disconnect the clutch switch.

If I bought that alarm, how much do you think a place would charge me to hook it all up? I know the remote starter is a b****, dont think I would be able to do myself.

Go to a reputable car stereo/alarm system specialty shop. They will do it right the first time even though it may cost a little more it will save the headache later. I've scene some pretty poor installs come out of Best Buy.

I never said best buy was going to install my alarm. Although my brother works there which means i get his discount since i am a family member. I might actually do the install my self haven't decided if i want some one else working on my car. But if i do have best buy do it and its not a good install i redo it or fix the problems my self.
