wudup guyz, i'm rebuilding my 98 svt contour. gat about 150,000 miles. how much hp can i reasonably attain with these mods? help!
-total rebuild.(all new)
-porting n polishing heads
-porting n polishing intakes
-installing domed forged pistons
-msds headers n y-pipe
-jet chip
-custom grind cams
total cost is about $5000. worth it?

stock +40?

Not even remotely close to worth it.
You can get more overall power gains from a $1000 3L swap.

I Strongly suggest you do a lot of research!

so what can i do? i didn't think it would be wise to install a supercharger or turbo on a motor with that many miles. so a 3L swap is better?

For 5K you can do a 3L AND a SC or Turbo

Thats cutting it very close there, make sure you factor in the other things that come along with that. 3L + Turbo for under 5 grand... NO way!

Its not worth dropping any money into an engine with that many miles on it. If you want it to last, you better drive it like grandma.

If your building a racer, then do some research. Get yourself a 3L, rebuild the tranny (LSD a must)... Do exhaust and suspension mods.

between 5k n 6k is ma budget.
by the way? where do i get a 3L motor?

absolutely. Timeless420 on here did a 3.0L swap with basically the same components your thinking (i.e. pnp heads, 11.5:1 compressions pistons, etc) and he made 236.7fwhp, 219.1fwtq. Btw, if your gonna spend $5000, do it right the first time and ditch that crappy jet chip and get a chip/Xcal from ADC or an Xcal from brendpseed.

No real luck on contours...

apart from a junkyard, where else could i get a 3L motor? i thought svt contours only came in 2.5L? kinda new at this.

thats wheel hp, not crank.

236 whp is ~ 287 crank hp

I'm certainly not an expert, check out the 3L pages...

The SVT Contour's only came in the 2.5L V6. When they are talking about a 3L they are talking about a 3L Duratec from another Ford, like a Taurus or Escape, etc.

just went online n found that aizdynochip has a 3L short block already prepped for $1800. i'm assuming its ready to go. good deal?

its not ready to go, it'll take like 2 months for Rick (Buckshot77) to build it up then send it to you..

It'll also need the heads, cams, etc. attached. That's why it's a short block. Not trying to be insulting, just making sure you don't expect to just bolt it straight in.

thx a bunch 4 da help y'all. Cos d body of my contour is still in 9.5 outta 10 condition, decided to do a basic rebuild. the only extras are msds headers n y-pipe. it already has a KKM intake system with dual 2.5 magnaflow exhausts. i'll just have to be patient again till i can come up with a couple grand to purchase a vortech SC.
