an xcal or x callibrator(sp?) is a instrument used to tune your car.

any more questions on things try using thee search feature. Search duratech performance and the 3.0 sections for "xcal" or "xcal 2" and make sure yyou change the results to all dates.

Here's my issue with these questions...I have questions like this ALL THE TIME! I am constantly thinking of diff things that I don't have answers to...so I search...and I'm not talking about CEG...I'm talking, google, wikipedia, ask-jeeves, etc. This was possibly the easiest question to answer via google that I have seen posted in a long time...

Google....

I just bought Svtedwardo contour and it came with one of these. Was I supposed to get any software or is it all in the module. The car is getting horrible gas mileage and smell like it the fuel pressure has been turned up higher than it needs to be. I didn't recieve any manuals or anything with the module. Any advice would be appreciated

Don't quote me on this...but...no i dont believe it comes with any software. You can buy the Pro Racer Package and that is software that gives you the full ability to tune your car. If your car is running real rich because of a tune on the xcal, try hooking the xcal up and setting the tune back to stock. That should fix it if thats the problem. Its very easy to do...aka, self explanitory on the xcal screen.

try going to www.sctflash.com and using their forums. Or get aholdof the guy you got it from and ask him about it.

this might be because you dont have mil eliminators. You can tune it back to stock and get mil eliminators or just get a new tune. the xcal can read check engine lights. Post whatever number it gives you, but I bet it is the rear o2's

I have an SCT Tuner for my Focus and it comes with 2 tunes and can store the stock tune as well. You have only mentioned one malfunctioning or incorrectly programmed. I had issues with mine and the supplier provided the necessary links to modify the programs loaded. I should think if your unit's supplier has any sort of reputation they will help you out in similar fashion.

The P1000 code means that the self test monitors have not all completed since the last time the battery was disconnected or the codes were read. On many cars, the monitors will run fairly soon (maybe a half hour of driving). Our cars, as well as many Fords, take longer. Sometimes, depending on driving habits, it may take a couple of weeks or more.

i.e. The OBD II Monitors have not finished running. Very likely that the battery has been discinnected recently. Needs to be driven more so that the monitors can finish.

Look like both downstream O2 sensors are done. I did SVTEdwardo's headers and he DOES have MIL's. I think that the O2 sensors are just done.

The reason his car reeks of gas is becuase it has ZERO catalytic converters. If you add a universal 3" cat (cos he has 3" piping) THEN it would get rid of the stench, and I think it would run better too, as the 3" exhaust he has on there is a little overkill. The addition of a cat will help by adding a restriciton to get the exhaust velocity back up to closer to where it needs to be.

yea i say stazi is right there, i know the other problem with the bad gas mileage is the copper plugs i have in there for my nitrous which i gapped pretty small , so thats gonna hurt the gas mileage there, im pretty sure the uim needs cleaning to which would also help out . and the tune was done by hynotic illusions which has had mixed results on the board like alot of poeple know.

With that bit of info I would suggest you get a set of Autolite APP764's in there at the same time you go and buy new lower O2's (2 total - both downstream)
