Is it possible to install a BOV in the contour without it having the turbo spooler? I love the Blow off sound and would like to have it on the car. I have this car far long enough now and i am ready to mess with it. (8yrs.)

No i dont want any fake electronic Sound maker.

cant some form of changes be made. apart from the turbo. A dont want to put in no turbo cause i would have to relocate the batery and the truck is filled with sound boxes.

Oi.

They sell those little whistles you put in your tailpipe on ebay
Posted By: Kremithefrog Re: BOV Sound? - 10/22/05 10:56 PM
Yeah mane, replace your muffler bearings with the APC BOV and you'll be foolin' spoolin' like crazy. Put a front mount interfooler on and you'll be pimpin yo.
Posted By: Island_ContourSE Re: BOV Sound? - 10/23/05 12:38 AM
The one to put in the muffler is the spooling sound, thats not what i want. i want the Blow off sound when you releace the accl. pedal.

Seriously why in the hell would want to show off with a fake blow off valve? People are just going to look at you and say your a f'in cracker.

Huh? Which part of the pool is that? When I'm tired I go in the shallow end, when I got energy I'll go in the deep end.

Didn't you say you wanted to mess with it? Also, a BOV is used on a turbo to release pressure (hence the sound)...no turbo, not enough pressure. But, why would you fake a BOV? There wouldn't be any turbo spoolup, so, everyone hearing it would know its fake. All in all it is totally pointless....but, hey, isn't all rice?
Posted By: FireFox Re: BOV Sound? - 10/23/05 03:57 PM
No, not totally all rice is pointless. Just 99%, since once in a while you come upon a Ricer who doesn't act it.

This is the worse site i ever come to for help. This site is full of lame asses. Ill just stick to the professional sites where I am getting more help. Its obvious i am not welcome here. I wonder what the #2 rule of the desclaimer on the forum is for.

Maybe dont come to a performance oriented web-site and ask for ricer stuff. Im sure the "Professional" sites you have been to are all ricer.org, Honduh.com/bigstupid

No, this is actually one of the best sites on the web for contour help. They answered your question with a detailed explination, what doesnt make since is that you keep asing the EXACT same question and we tell you "NO. You CANNOT do that" You say you are ready to mess with the motor, but dont want to... mess with it... That doesnt make any sense. Everybody loves the sound of a BOV, but what everybody loves MORE is the POWER you get from why you HAVE a BOV.... Hum... Personally, I wouldn't spend $2000+ on a custom turbo kit JUST to get the sound of a BOV. That would be recockulious. If you love the sound of a BOV, but dont want to spend a lot of money, Sell your contour, and buy an Eagle Talon TSI and put an aftermarket BOV on it. Problem solved.

Waaaahhh... I'm taking my ball and leaving !

You are welcome here, this is an open forum. But don't post crap like this if you don't want responses. Fake BOV sound are things that dumbricer.com (and other "Professional" sites) can help you with.

If you would like to really turbocharge your Contour, we can help.

Good luck. Wanna-be-ricer... All right that was uncalled for. I apologize.

What I find sad is the fact that he just ASKED if it was POSSIBLE to do this. Only ONE person responded with his request.. no.

Younger people are getting into the contour now, gotta dumb it down for them.

That is some funny sh*t. You won't get a turbo because you have a system.

I wish that was my excuse for not having one.

Oh I agree Andrew. Whirly gigs with lights and sounds is stupid if it does nothing. But as my statement above that I conveniently bolded for ya (you can send payment when you like ) says, the younger the newb, the younger the mind, experience, etc.

As we all must come to relize, we must face the fact that when we sit down to "eat" on these boards, a nice heaping pile of Uncle Bens will be smack dab in the middle of our plates.

Posted By: Number47 Re: BOV Sound? - 10/23/05 09:31 PM
well you can do it with out a turbo the only thing is you need a pressure tank, a compressor(other than a turbo) and a bov with a controller the only thing is you would have to wait and biuld up pressure and trip your bov and wait again. so yes it is possible is it worth doing... only if you really want too. would i do it, not in a million years
Posted By: Tuned3900SFI Re: BOV Sound? - 10/23/05 10:07 PM
^^^

Thats what I was thinking. It would difficult to synchronize filling and release of the air tank through the valve, and telling a "computer" of some sort to crank on the compressor to get ready to fill the tank back up. Would requrie some sort of chip to tell the electronically comtrolled release "mechanisim" to release at a certain RPM.

My head hurts, now. The work and weight involved with doing that would probably equal the cost of the Turbo kit itself.

Well put. I didn't put a full custom turbo kit on my Escort for a PSSSHHHTT. It was a added bonus. You add positive manifold pressure for horsepower gains - no one turbo's a car for the sound. If you have the engery, intelligence, and money to turbo a car, you are after higher performance, not a cool sound. I reaserched and read about turbos, A/F ratio's, timing and boost control for over a year and then began to collect parts for my project. I had never heard the Greddy Type-S BOV I bought until I was done with the project, but it is surely an added bonus to shifting after you spool up the turbo.

I my opinion, if you have a BOV that is loud, it serves as a method to show off you turbo. A BOV without a turbo would be like a computer without a power supply, like a mechanic without tools, like a Honda without a fart tube, like a ...

Also, you are right, this is a great site for Contour information. I looked for a while and this site rocks for Contour troubleshooting and performance info. I can just imagine this "professional forum" that has how to's on how to hook a BOV to an air compressor and holding tank with a purge valve.
Posted By: Mystique97 Re: BOV Sound? - 10/23/05 10:46 PM
Here you go, buy yourself a little cheapy air compressor out at walmart for 50 bucks get a small air hose for it, and a air gun for it, and put it under your dash, hook it up to your gas pedal so when you let off, it'll push the trigger on it, and you can also hook a microphone to the bottom of the dash with the nozzle pointing at it and a speaker running under the hood. BRAVO you have BOV!

Serously man, WTF are you thinking, and this site is the best site for Contour information out there (well one of the best) These guys gave me ideas and helped out with things I could not figure out. I'm not trying to be an ass but this is what you should expect to hear if you ask dumbass questions like this.

no. i feel horrible having to correct a rice-BOV plan, but that is incorrect. the BOV doesnt sound off everytime you let off the throttle. only when there is positive pressure going to the intake.

Well he could do something like that just keep adding pressure every so often to the tank.

Posted By: rearden Re: BOV Sound? - 10/24/05 01:08 AM
I'll never forget talking to this one girl who claimed to know a lot about cars (in other words, she dated a few ricers). She suggested to a friend of mine that he install a blowoff valve on his (stock) Corvette. She actually started yelling at me when I tried to explain why that would be utterly pointless since there's no pressure for it to blow off.

However she did go on to make fun of him for buying a Corvette with a slushbox; there's really no arguing against that.
