This is probably a dumb question but for the midnight blue interior would i order dark blue or demin blue?
Posted By: Eric L_dup1 Re: Lo-Tek Pods - 11/30/04 02:02 AM
I'd say get either and then get the matching Ford paint from Bill Jenkins and paint to match. I think the dark blue is what I have, well prior to painting.
Posted By: RTStabler51_dup1 Re: Lo-Tek Pods - 11/30/04 01:25 PM
I did that the first time, and since someone decided to borrow my apillar and gauges, i had to replace the pod and gauges I ordered mine already painted. MUCH easier and cheaper. I searched to find the answer and can't remember what it was off the top of my head.
Posted By: RawBurt Re: Lo-Tek Pods - 11/30/04 01:28 PM
Oh well i ordered dark blue... thats done and over with. Any one know how long they usually take to come in?
Posted By: RTStabler51_dup1 Re: Lo-Tek Pods - 11/30/04 01:43 PM
I think mine took about 10-14 days.

Good stuff, just in time for xmas and still enough time to figure out what gauges i'll put in. I'm set on
1. Volts
2. Oil pressure
3. ... Somthing ????????
Posted By: RTStabler51_dup1 Re: Lo-Tek Pods - 11/30/04 02:07 PM
I would recommend water temp. you'd be amazed at the temp differences and the stock gauge doesn't even move..
Posted By: RawBurt Re: Lo-Tek Pods - 11/30/04 02:12 PM
What 3 do y'all have?
Posted By: Barge Re: Lo-Tek Pods - 11/30/04 02:32 PM
For future reference for anyone else don't get the lotek gauges painted from lotek because they never match. Just buy it plain black and then paint it with actual ford interior paint.

Damn, thats a wasted $7.99... Thanks though.
Posted By: RTStabler51_dup1 Re: Lo-Tek Pods - 11/30/04 02:47 PM
Its close enough for me.

And IMO, the interior paint was about as close as what I got from LoTek. Its 'good enough' for 90% of hte people and you won't really tell a difference.

Now, for the three gauges I am running
Top
Electric Water Temp
Middle
Mechincal Oil Pressure
Bottom
A/F gauge (which is going to gadgetseller soon to be 'adjusted')

All Autometer Phantom series.

For anyone else. IF you're going to buy an A/F gauge PLEASE don't waste your time and buy it "as-is" off the shelf. Buy it recal'd already, from www.Gadgetseller.com

He has all the popular lines of Autometer gauges already recal'd and ready to go.

RT at least is having his recal'd, but using one that comes off the shelf and reads from 0-1V is useless unless you like the blinky lights and don't really care about what it does.
Posted By: RTStabler51_dup1 Re: Lo-Tek Pods - 11/30/04 03:03 PM
Yup, got'em from JEGs. 2 1/16th.

Rule of thumb is..electric are easy to install, but not as accurate as mechcanical.
Mechnical are more accurate, but a bit harder to install. Probably mainly due to crimping the plastic tubing.

1. Volt

2. Oil Press

3. Tach

...havent hooked my oil pressure up yet

Posted By: Livinsvt_dup1 Re: Lo-Tek Pods - 11/30/04 03:54 PM
Just a note for those that care, going to gadgetseller does void the autometer warranty.

Hold up on Loteks site they say the gauges are 2"... you used 2 1/16"?
Posted By: RTStabler51_dup1 Re: Lo-Tek Pods - 11/30/04 04:00 PM
It does say 2"...weird, I could have sworn I got 2 1/16th...

I just checked my order on JEGs....and I did order 2 1/16th. And they fit just fine.

It's like that to ensure a tight fit. 1/16" is nothing.

True

if they are a little to tight just break out the dremel and gently sand away

i also have 2 1/16

Ryan and I have about the same setup..

Autometer Phantom Series White Face Gauges:

Mechanical Water Temp
Mechanical Oil Pressure
A/F (Ok Ok I'll have it recalibrated to make everyone happy)

I paid IIRC ~130ish

Posted By: Y2KSVT Re: Lo-Tek Pods - 11/30/04 06:12 PM
I paid about the same... I bought them all from Summit, and they will get them to you next day if you are within the surrounding states. I ordered them on morning, and they were on my doorstep the following day. They are based out of Ohio if that isn't already common knowledge.

Mark
Posted By: Stazi Re: Lo-Tek Pods - 11/30/04 07:13 PM
That's the nice thing about Summit Racing for people in MI, IN, and OH. You order what you want with regular ground shipping and it's delivered the next day!

Like I said before though if you intend to get an A/F gauge get a gadgetseller gauge - and yes, they carry the gauge in the Phantom Series for those with enquiring minds.

PS I too have phantom series but I have Oil Pressure (mech hooked up to the main oil gallery, NOT the head) EGT, and Vac/Boost.
Posted By: RawBurt Re: Lo-Tek Pods - 11/30/04 09:14 PM
For the oil pressure, whats recommended for the svt... 0-100 psi or 0-150 psi?
Also the clock on there is awesome... thats maybe to fill the third hole!
Posted By: Stazi Re: Lo-Tek Pods - 11/30/04 09:19 PM
100psi is more than enough.
Posted By: Y2KSVT Re: Lo-Tek Pods - 11/30/04 09:50 PM
I too have the mech oil pressure 100psi, and at the main oil gallery.

I love head, but not when looking for an accurate oil pressure reading.

my dada wanted me to get the clock. i am getting oil psi then fuel psi, fuel gauge (mine still doesn't work from the svt gauge swap) and then one other. haven't made up my mind yet.

That is interesting....when i hooked up the SVT gauge cluster everything worked but the tach (no wire to the ECU).

i ordered my lo-tek pod on wednesday, and i got it first thing saturday morning... talk about fast shipping, and the tan that i paid the extra 7.99 for matches my interior almost perfectly...im impressed. now i just gotta shell out the cash for the gauges.

I got Volt, Oil press., and a/f ratio.

If it's the gauge itself I have a spare, but it'll cost you some LED's!!!

what yr is it out of. As mine reads backwards. I put my gauge in from my 99 se, and it didn't read at all.

Just the LEDs
Posted By: RawBurt Install How TO - 12/13/04 07:04 PM
Does anyone have a how to on hooking up the air fuel and oil pressure gauges... I'm sure it's not that hard. I know for the a/f you need to splice into the white and red wire from the 02 sensor and i know for the oil pressure you need to hook it to the sending unit. But what i am looking for is if anyone has a detailed how to, maybe even with pictures...
That would be greatly appreciated!
Posted By: RTStabler51_dup1 Re: Install How TO - 12/13/04 08:12 PM
I can't give any advice on the oil pressure, but you just said yourself how to tap into A/F, thats all it is, then running the wire into the cabin.......
Posted By: Y2KSVT Re: Install How TO - 12/13/04 08:29 PM
There isn't a How-To in the "How-To" section. But I did a search and found one there. You'll find that it's a little tougher than you expcect. But then again, it also depends if you are doing mechanical or electric.

IIRC there is only a black, red and purple wire for the A/F guage.

As for the oil pressure guage, the only place worth tapping into is the main poil gallery plug which is behind the A/C compressor. Tapping into the head feed is pointless IMHO.
Posted By: RTStabler51_dup1 Re: Install How TO - 12/13/04 08:41 PM
Yup, purple is for the A/F tap, red - power black - ground

Posted By: todras_dup1 Re: Install How TO - 12/13/04 09:13 PM
Well if you saw all those posts I'm guessing you searched. And under that search Stazi's post would have turned up.

From this post.

Well last night I went ahead and installed the fitting for my Oil Pressure gauge into my block.

The right place to get it is at the main Oil gallery feeding the crank!

The other spot high up on the head doesn't give you a true reading as it is after a restrictor plate.

the correct place to tap in is behind the A/C compressor on the Duratec.

3 bolts loosens the A/C compressor, and with the belt off, and also unscrewing the A/C line that's joined to the front crossover coolant pipe you can move the A/C compressor forward towards the radiator enough to see a plug to the left of the oil filter connection and a little under the stock oil pressure sender.

You need to use an 8mm Allen wrench to remove the plug, then install a female/female reducer and then a 90? elbow followed by the reducer you get with the Mechanical Oil Pressure Gauge kit and then finally the compression fitting.

Thanks Todd, that actually was really helpful!
Posted By: Y2KSVT Re: Install How TO - 12/13/04 10:18 PM
Now go strip some A/C Compressor bolts, bust some knuckles, and come back to tell us about it

Good luck!
