99 SVT? Most likely a SFG2 code. I can't remember the strategy. Warmonger would know it off the top of his head. He can probably burn you a program for you car too. He has the equiptment

KHAI5GZ should be the strategy for SFG2

Little bit more English. You asked about your computer code, and 2 people have helped you. What are you asking?

i am sorry just not enough knowledge about tunning

the guy fron dyno shop was trying to find out if he can program the computer or if other device is needed to tune it.

how does it work?
will this code help him?

If he's asking basic questions like that then I would say find another tuner.

I know the problem is that eerybody elso does not work with contours

this is f+++ up

the reson I wanna do it is that on High RPMS my car is little weak

over 5K it seems that it donesn't have enough power

I don't think that is the case. The fact is that this guy can't figure out PCM codes and wheather or not he can work with them is the issue. Any one can tune these cars if they have the right software, but this guy seems to be hung up on the most basic part of the process
Posted By: lubas79 Re: dyno question - 05/05/06 04:10 PM
ok so this code is enough or should I look for somebody else, but in Ny it sucks

not enough guys

I just spoke to him

his answer

he has to get a unit x-calibur and that is 375$
than to map it is 399$ for 1st map and that he said it is lot cheaper after all

what do you think

will it mke ay difference to have motorcraft sparkplugs ot bush quad four

will it help
Posted By: Kremithefrog Re: dyno question - 05/05/06 05:37 PM
Bosch plugs = bad Autolite or motorcraft = good

I think you sorta skipped a step in your efforts to find more power. You went straight to modifying (dyno tuning) rather than having regular maintenance done first. Check out the duratec maintenance section.

are you saying that he will charge you 375 for the xcal2 then another 399 for the tune? I believe most offer the xcal2 with a tune for about 375, or at least the place I looked into does
Posted By: lubas79 Re: dyno question - 05/05/06 07:40 PM
no no I did everything I got motorcraft plugs 15k miles ago but I was thinking about bosh everybody is saying how they are

going to x calibur

that is what he said damn
he said 399 for maping it with dyno tunning all that crap and additional maping much less
I am in NY
any advice
do I need dyno to tune it ( dump question but I am trying )

Without seeing how your car reacts at 5k rpm's, it's hard to say if it's maintenance issues, or tuning issues. Does the car just fall on it's face at 5k? I guess my question is, why do you think that it isn't pulling like it should? What are you comparing it to?

As for tuning, go to www.sctflash.com and enter your zip code on the right side, and how far you are willing to travel. It will pull up a list of SCT dealers, some of which will have websites and dyno shops. Get ahold of them and see if they are able to tune your vehicle. A quality dyno shop won't request that you purchase an Xcal2, unless you need more than one tune. If you plan to stay N/A, and are done with your mods, then just get one dyno tune and be finished. SCT dealers will have the software needed, and be able to tune your car without the Xcal2.

over 5k it seems like ot has a lock of power I compare it to my integra (I had one a while ago) I dont know anymore i wonder if it is normal

I went to the web site and I looked within 50 miles I guess I have to go to 100 miles. everybody within 50 miles except this one guy who told me that I need xcal
anyways I just needed to find out from you guys in oder not to make any errors.

I wonder
If I buy xcal from arizona dyno chip cam I program it by myself?

or any other website

thank you

Comparing it just to a high revving 4 banger is probably not best. My svt runs fine but doesn't have the same high rpm pull my escort does, almost making it feel slower even though it's much quicker. It's getting its work done evenly through the rpm, while most 4 bangers have to be revved pretty high to really go.
Posted By: Ray_dup1 Re: dyno question - 05/06/06 05:24 AM
The powerband is high, with a lot of power under the curve so the pull (after secondaries open) "feels" the same all the way up, vs. a peaky powerband that spikes at the top end. You'll feel sluggish until the UPPER UPPER range, then it "feels" like it pulls REALLY strong, shift gears and start over.

The SVT is quicker, though it doesn't "feel" like it, than a lot of cars.

Its the same feeling you get in a GTP.. geared much shallower, you get more pull, but less "feel" from it.

cool that is the feeling I get so I am good

now about xcal2

can I get it and program it myself with the software and computer

hmmmmm (be nice)

thanks

What is your pcm code? Lets start with that first.
Posted By: lubas79 Re: dyno question - 05/07/06 12:19 AM
where do I find the pcm code
Posted By: warmonger_dup1 Re: dyno question - 05/09/06 03:03 PM
on the side of the pcm plug, under the dash where the front passenger footwell is. There may be a bracket holding it in place but take a flash light and look around. You can unbolt the bracket with a 10mm socket.
