Had a lot of traction issues and stock exhaust is of no help obviously. !4's are not far off....just have to work out the bugs. What do you think?

Performance wise i have:

MSDS, beyond-optimized Y, RU3530 with maf adapter, LSD and Spec1. My SE didn't have headers but i was running a free-flowing exhaust and main cat eliminator pipe. I suspect the 2" restrictive stock res is really holding the car back.

Not bad.. i think i noticed a little more get up and go when i got my exhaust.. but then again when the sound gets louder the butt-dyno dosnt work to good

well i think i'll have the only 16.5 second SVT out there..

Why so slow at 16.5?
Posted By: KingpinSVT Re: First time in the SVT...not bad... - 04/20/06 05:54 AM
Damn, we can get SVTs in the 16's at 1 mile altitude with just exhaust

FWIW, last time I was at the strip PlatoSVT and I compared times. Similar times at the beginning, but he had exhaust and I was stock. You could see where he starting making time up towards the end. Should help pull things together for you.

You should be trapping a lot higher than 88.5 mph... even w/ the stock exhaust.

Nope, all she had was

SVT UIM
SVT TB (opt)
RU3530
Beyond-optimized y
Main cat delete
Mandrel bent 2.5" exhaust with single magnaflow muffler
And poly mounts

Dyno'd at 159 HP 160 TQ

Was running crap tires, 2nd gear grind and a slipping clutch. I miss that car.....

Leting up too early would be the easiest reason... I hit about 91.5 mph with a lot less mods than you... including the stock exhaust.

With all the stuff you have.. especially after and exhaust and tuning I reckon you should be at least into the 93 range.

I'd be willing to bet the stock exhaust mitigates any gains the ypipe and headers provide.

Well, we'll find out soon.......i built my exhaust today

I'll be going back within two weeks.

Not yet, funding for upgrades has been cut off so i used the parts i already bought for a quasi-dual system. I'm having issues with the car that i want to get sorted out before i put any more money into it....

It's not going anywhere any time soon, that for sale add was placed out of spite...i won't get what i want for the car so it's not leaving the stable....

But a 12 sec festiva will be in the works in a couple months. Total cost on the project will be around 2k.

My as well buy a car that says I'm a [censored] head!

Even if it runs twelves! It's one thing to say...it's still just a neon...but well i think you see where I am going...lol

Seeing as no one has gotten a Contour into the 12s for $2000, I say go for it. It's a good way to learn a lot and have fun and it's still cost effective. How is that silly or in poor taste?

Find me a Festiva (or a Neon) that runs 12.7 for $2000, and after a couple runs, heck yeah, that might grow on me.

The lower down the automotive food chain you go, the greater the fast car is. A fast festiva poopbox is awesome. An even faster geo metro is more than amazing.

I would love a 12 sec festiva! Somebody build me one.

the chicks would be all over him in a car like that. some guy rolls up in a mustang trying to be all bad ass in from of his woman, and you rev....guy will laugh at you and try to play with you only to realize he is never going to catch up....untill the car flys off the road cause a large gust of wind and the fact you are going 120 mph makes it.
