Mustang Dyno

The one with the twin rolers, we put the car on set up all the specs: HP @ 50MPH, Weight, Displacement, Cylendars, set up the RPM pickup on CYL 2 Wire from coil, strapper her down and did a warmup run.

The result:

106.5HP @ 5250
123.0 LB-FT @ 4250

WTF

what did we do wrong

weight was 3375 LBS
HP @ 50 Was 10.5

The one thing i did notice was the acceleration was slower on the dyno then on the road almost like i was driving with my e-brake on.

So was the resitance too high?
could the dyno be out?
could the operator be DEFICIENT?

There is nothing wrong with my car at all it drives like a champ there is no CEL's, no leaks, nothing is binding up, there is not a problem with it.

I beat my friend in his Cavalier with a CAI, Motor mounts and various suspension parts, and his dyno came out at about 134 hp and 140 ft-lbs so obviously the numbers are wrong.

all pulls were run in 4th. The 1/4 mile run which was 17.37 @ 80.7 (check my signiture for the specs) Seems slow, am i wrong? It's not that i want huge power numbers i just wanted to see what it had at the wheels

WHAT CAN I DO TO FIX IT.

Sorry for the big POST

I definetly dont think the dyno is inaccurate with an 80 mph trap speed in the 1/4 mile. Something is holding you back.

I believe the non svt 2.5s put down 130~ hp stock if im not mistaken, so perhaps the dyno was off.

That dyno is off.....even the slower stock Duratecs I have seen on the dyno have put down over 120hp.

Shot i have an Atx and with just an SVT tb, Intake and exhaust i dynoed 141hp and 140tq.

I cant wait to go this summer since i have done some more work to her, I think i might be able to hit 150hp and 145tq. guess we will have to wait and see

there stupid small graphs and I can post em if you like but tomorrow cause its late and im tired

If my secondaries didn't work i wouldn't be beating my friends cavi and i feel them at 3800 or around there so i assume they work.

we were talking about weights today and friends of mine who were there say that the weight was probbably off or the dyno is screwed up

does tha atmosphere pressure and temp affect the accuracy of a dyno also does elevation have something to do with it or wethert the dyno is level or not matter.

i did think the 1/4 time was close to a stock duratec weighed down by a 220 lb driver plus stereo equipment and useless junk like tools and clothes.

but being new to dynoing a car i don't know.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Why I hate Mustang dyno's too much input error opportunities, thus increasing the chanc of getting BS #'s out of it.

Not sure what the weight is used for but if it is used to calculate your horsepower the weight used seems a little high. It would defenitly reduce the calculated HP. Shouldn't the curb weight be around 3000

80 mph trap speed...what!?!?!

yeah pete, not everyone can run their stock 2.5's at the tack like us .

yeah a 15.8 with a 90mph trap is sooo awesome!
