I been promising some videos to back up my talk about what power really looks like under 14 psi. I didn't race anyone I don't post those video here only on svtperformance.com do i put the shady videos. I took the car out for a littel spin and brought ya'll along for a ride for 6 minutes enjoy the video and maybe it might give you a good feeling what a fast car feels like. Oh If I had to guess the power I and putting down I would guess over 400whp and it is turned down till I go to the dyno Wednesday. I reall y put this video to show ya'll that third does not hook up it spins tires.

My traction problems definitly aren't that bad. 3rd gear moves the speedo just as well as yours (I know, what a great way to compare right?) but I don't spin the tires in 3rd even on 215/45/17 street tires. I'd defintly say you have an 11 second car if traction wasn't such an issue.
Posted By: Kremithefrog Re: 3.0 Turbo Video New footage - 09/02/06 10:53 PM
Very nice. Just needs some slicks.

wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww i only spin in 3third when is cold very cold and is like more a litle spin

Man, I have tears in my eyes listening to the sound of that turbo duratec. You're right, the trubends exhaust is pretty kick ass sounding, I haven't heard a better sounding exhaust.

And your car looks really good, nice and clean in there. All you need are some 235's on it for the street so you may be able to hold 3rd gear...maybe and you need some drag radials.

Hell, just face it you need drag radials to drive around on the street, and you need slicks for the track!

Thanks Joey, I liked that.
Thanks guys for the comments. I may need to get some drag radials for the street. But the expense of changing them will be some frustrating since they do wear faster than z rated tires. The video was edited so you only saw third I did continue on up too the high three digits very quickly. It was tempting to go run tonite to see what times I can get but I will be patient and go get my dyno first so I can get some trust in the setup first. I will say that the third gear revs so fast that the car doesn't have time to build boost like it should. I get around 12 psi when the tires break loose. But in third I get a full 14 psi because of teh load. 1St I get about 10 psi and second the same since they are too short. I ordered the 7 psi spring for my tial wastegate so it can build up faster I have the 3 psi spring I letting alot of boost out the boost controller to allow me to get that high.

It is fun to drive but if you play hard expect to fill the tank up every two days not to cheap either. If I was to run throught the gears you would see that traction gets worst since the boost is there already. I am hoping my axles will be ablt to handle the shock load when I hit the track next week.

The motor is loud because of the clutch chatter from the spec 3 it really makes me upset when i am showing the car off. I had some people try to tease me today let just say no match at all.........

thats very impressive. congrats and nice work. like warmonger said very clean.
Posted By: A3ON Re: 3.0 Turbo HOLY CRAP that's strong! - 09/03/06 02:23 AM
i thought my spec 3 was the only clutch to make that chattering noise

That's impressive.
I had to share the vid with my other car-dork friends. Hope you don't mind.

that is crazy power

BUT it doesn't look usable at all...when is it that you can actually go WOT without losing traction?

Exactly what I was thinking. I commend your work and efforts Burrita but, FWD CSVT + 500hp+ = traction problems like I've never seen.
Posted By: BurritaSVT_dup1 Re: 3.0 Turbo Video New footage - 09/03/06 02:47 PM
Fourth is the gear I can run WOT and it zips through it so fast third works best at 3/4 throttle. I getting use to how much I can give it now I think I can easily breaks 12's even with a slow start. I do believe on the track the tires will stick better and I should get a high 12 with ease defintly over 115mph too. If my little boy was in the hosiptal I might have ran last night for fun. It time for someone to buy my dual boost controller so I can buy the E-01 progressive boost controller so I can set boost levels according to gears.

OH guys guess you should know that Tom has made this tune real safe till the dyno. I ran this video on a 10.5 A/F and the timing cracked back 10 degrees easily. So there is alot of power here that is not being used at this boost level. I can't imagine what it would feel like having it run 12.1 area and some agressive timing to top that. And a couple more pounds of air to all of this can you say just outright redicilous acceleration. Stayed tuned for the new video of judgement day at the dynojet two days left...........
Posted By: Beans_dup1 Re: 3.0 Turbo Video New footage - 09/03/06 04:09 PM
Amazing.

how much boost were you running in the video?
Posted By: JEDsContour Re: 3.0 Turbo Video New footage - 09/03/06 05:18 PM
Oh - my - god (looking at own car and big pile of parts).

That??s just nuts (wonderful!). OK, Warmonger has my business if he??ll take it. I guess I should buy the RPP.

I asked Terry to do the ??Koated Kogbox? option when he rebuilt my new BAT MTX. I??m hopeful that will keep the chatter noise down from my Spec 3+. Their site is down for maintenance, but I know some have posted to say it??s an effective mod.

I sincerely hope you find a solution to the traction issue ??and share it with everyone. I??ll be researching the widest, stickiest street tires I can install. Time to search the ??Newby? question: ??What??s the widest tires I can put on my Contour?? I do want to keep the body stock looking on mine.

No wheel hop, you are just flat out overpowering the drivetrain. It will be so easy to get in serious trouble with that car? Try to stay out of jail as long as possible!

An inspirational video for a Sunday Morning!

Great video... thanks for the ride!

That is an insane amount of power there. After seeing this video, I cant wait to see the quarter mile times and your driving impressions after getting used to it a little more. No doubt this car will lay down amazing numbers, but after seeing it on the road I'm wondering how useful all that power will really be in a FWD Tour?

Ive been strongly considering doing a 3L turbo setup in an older SE but now it seems like it might be more frustrating to have all that power and not be able to use it than it would be to just have a milder car that hooks up and goes. Let us know how it all goes. That thing is a beast!

are you still running the stock shifter???
Posted By: European Re: 3.0 Turbo Video New footage - 09/03/06 06:06 PM
Wwow Wwow & Perhaps a sidedish of some Wwow.
Posted By: BurritaSVT_dup1 Re: 3.0 Turbo Video New footage - 09/03/06 06:17 PM
yeah it is stock shifter. I could power shift the car but it won't do anything but make the tires spin from 10 mph to 80mph. So I just engage the gear and ride it out. Trust me I never had to power shift the car makes up the difference so a short shifter is useless in my car. I taunted with a couple cars and cruising a 40 mph in third and punching it to 80 mph they just gave up where I started the rubber marks. The turbo I was told is loud on the drivers side so my buddy has a 300 zx and he wants to video the car from his car and I will post some full throttle pulls tonite. From a outside car view it will fun to do and it won't be a race just a demostration on how fast it accelarate to somthing moving already.

Remember. All those guys talking about unusable power need to understand that it is usable in 4th gear. Also need to understand that some wider tires and of course a multistage boost controller will definitely help make it usable in all gears.

Someone needs to buy Burritas boost controller so he can afford the E01.

Imagine the 12.xsec runs with something like that to let you hook up....

You have a very clean interior (specifically the gague install). Mine looks dead grotty and I need to do something about it. Wish I could break my tires free in third. *sighs*

..is it a ADC T3/T4?
Posted By: TRicker Re: 3.0 Turbo Video New footage - 09/04/06 10:12 PM
it looks like it pulls nice after about 5500 but you have to shift right away. i was unimpressed until it started boosting, i dont know where your foot was on the pedal though of course

slicks would be a good investment of course. also man why do you milk the clutch so hard? i have never let my clutch out over 1500 rpms unless i was racing someone, i am talking aobut right at the beginning when you take the left hand corner. looks cool though
Posted By: warmonger_dup1 Re: 3.0 Turbo Video New footage - 09/04/06 10:27 PM
Tricker, what do you mean 1500 rpms?

As soon as he mashes the throttle it will rip loose the tires and spin all the way to redline if he didn't try to modulate the throttle.
Posted By: BurritaSVT_dup1 Re: 3.0 Turbo Video New footage - 09/04/06 10:33 PM
no I never got into full throttle at all in first two gears I maybe have quarter throttle. The only gears I punched it was third and when I hit it takes a split second for the turbo to spool. Drive the car and you will find out what impressing you means. I can show you a video of me trying to go from 9 to 85moh since I was just showing the video because of traction problems. The car is only as fast as you can use the power so why run full throttle or three quarter when the tires just smoke.

Trust me it is real fast. I ran 13.2 with smaller motor and less boost and bent an axle so if I was to roll up to a track first pass babying I put a ten dollar bill on a 12 sec pass.

But until you drive the car you have no feeling of what power feels like video seem alot slower than real life views.
Posted By: TRicker Re: 3.0 Turbo Video New footage - 09/04/06 10:38 PM
of course. i'm not trying to dog your car its obviously a beast! dont get me wrong pls. im just trying to decide on a blower setup like blackcoog or a custom turbo setup because one or the other is happening eventually. nitrous is good but its going to be 6.50 a pound by next spring and unless i buy a pump and buy it in bulk i'm going to boost my 2.5.

Tires......they really made my CSVT-turbo much more enjoyable to drive...Then again I was only making in the 240+whp range...

Honestly though, there are quite a few tires out there to choose from. My dilemna with the CSVT and my current car is that they're "handlers" so slapping on a drag radial you're gonna see the cornering ability go down ever so slightly based on driving psi(tire).

I ran the BFG DR's on the CSVT, and have had Nitto's on the Z,(they worked well early and quickly faded to be worse than regular radials), and now have settled on the Toyo RA1. The Toyo is far superior to both for daily, or even often driving as they are designed for wet weather(official wet weather race tire for the Speedvision cars), they have stiff sidewalls, they have 8/32 tread versus 5/32 for both the BF and the Nitto, so the 100treadwear will give you more life, and they handle some serious power!

I have them in all 4 corners and run full ps(42front/41rear)and have the ability to utilize all gears. Now granted I'm running 305/35/18 and am RWD, but I just wanted to share my thoughts with you guys on my tire experiences.

Good Luck!

Posted By: bnoon_dup1 Re: 3.0 Turbo Video New footage - 09/06/06 06:18 PM
mmmmmmmmm, Contour power.

I had 235/40/17 tires on my '99 SE and I know Rick "Buckshot" had 245/45/16's on his SVT. Both required a significant amount of "massaging" on the rear wheelwells. Specifically, it's the rear bumper mounting tab that takes the most work to get those fatties to fit without rubbing all of the time. The fronts fit no problem though, so you should at least be able to get something for the track if you wanted to.
