AutoX Info @ SECEG forum

I posted about this earlier in my regional CEG forum. Figured I'd also put a link here to let others know in case they missed it.

Season starts the 29th of June @ Metrozoo. AutoX Saturdays, Speedtrial Sundays as usual. Free to watch, come & see the fun!
Eric..are you going to be running? I would love to come and try it out, but what do I need to do for the "virgin" trip? I read that you need to attend a class at the conclusion of the day Saturday...but $40 for the class seems a little steep, plus I live so far away to get there at 7:00 am. I'll at least come and watch..

Alan
Good to hear from you again Alan.

Nah, the class is for Speedtrials on Sunday, you have to be allowed to participate on Sunday by attending class Saturday afternoon. But, it seems that there are no speedtrial events scheduled this summer... I'm assuming problems w/ Metrozoo on Sundays, who knows. They were fun to watch anyways, all the freaks w/ their 911's & Vipers & M3's taking laps... very cool. Saturday's not bad either tho, check the entry lists on their homepage to see who went last year. I think I'll be running, my dad's getting all into it, so I'll be charging him for my new tires & such to let him drive it

I'm sure there are a million people here who will tell you what you need to do to get ready for this & get great times. Me personally, i just do it to have fun & throw the car around & not get a ticket. The basics to have/do would be:

Get everything out of your car.
Check your fluids & brakes.
Put about 40lbs in the front & 36lbs in the rear tires the night before.
Bring something to drink (unless you want to spend mad $$).
Bring sunblock.
Bring whiteshoepolish / tape / sticker / anything to put your # & class designation on your car. You get whatever # you want unless its taken, classes are split up early in the morning. Everybody always forgets the shoepolish.

I'm usually too lazy to get there at 7. I arrive about 8:30-9ish and its cool, but you should have a # picked out before you get there & have your $30 in hand. You just won't be able to walk the track before we start, which will suck for you b/c your first runs will be sloppy until you memorize the track. Just have fun & don't worry about times just yet. Which car are you bringing?
Hi Alan,

I thought I would chime in and give you some good reading. It may be more than you care to digest at one sitting, but I would recommend at least printing it out and keeping it handy as a reference. You can check the index, and skip to whatever you think is relevant

I wish you the best of luck and loads of fun.

Season starts the 29th of June @ Metrozoo.

where is this place.....or did u mean morosso
Metrozoo is pretty far south Miami. 152nd Street & SW 120-something Avenue.

From Tampa, get to the Turnpike South somehow, get off at 152nd Street and make a right off the ramp. At the light, 117th Avenue, make another right. Keep going & watch for the big sign on your left.
Eric...if I come I'll be in the SVT...what else would I drive the company car(Chevy Venture). I could see that thing going around the course!! Can you say tire fold? I'll try and plan on being down there...

Thanks for the assistance!
Oh, I just saw your sig & thought you might bring the Jetta. See you there, I'll post again the week of the event. There's some good club interest for this event going on, supraforums.com, nasioc.com, sfzcc.com, so it hopefully will be a real nice event.
Yeah, I realized that after I posted. The Jetta is the wifes car, and while I "could" take it down there, the SVT would just be so much more fun.

Eric, why don't you PM me, I've got a chip for your car...if you're interested.
Wifey's got a phat car, dude.
Just a reminder, its this weekend... if it doesn't rain.
I'll see you there Eric...Should be seeing a couple of SVT's as well. Do they run until it rains, or if there is a chance of rain in the forecast do they call it off? I would hate to make the drive only to see they cancelled it due to possible rain.
in case some dont make it down for this one , dont forget about the auto cross at the fairgrounds in tampa the weekend of the 5th and 6th of july......quite a few people will be meeting there on the 5th to chill and hang out....probably go get some food as well.......check out the post in the south east forum under florida peeps...

I'll try to get there very early. Call me ahead of time & I'll let you know the deal. PM me for my #.
Dude, I was there from 7:10-8:30, and noone was there! I'm friggin pissed that I drove all that way only to find that Metro Zoo had it on schedule, yet the event was a no show! I doubt if I will ever support this particular cause due to this incident.
I just checked the site again. Seems like the date was moved until tomorrow morning!!?!?! I was confused with the schedule, it seems the date had been shifted around a bit, now its on for Sunday. I'm sorry you had to make that trip for nothing. I also drove down there like an ass.

I guess I'll go tomorrow morning, nothing better to do.
Screw that, I'm not waking up early on Sunday to drive down to south Miami....again! I can't beleive that they'd so uninformative on their site....

On a side not, I went to Moroso today as they were having an open track day for Chin Motorsports...badass! I would love to become qualified to run those practice days. Gotta take some $250 driving course, but holy speed Batman!
Yeah I know a bunch of people who run w/ www.chinmotorsports.com ... its a fun event. I've never personally gone, but I'd love to have my car in a shape that I'd feel comfortable doing that. I think its $250+ each time.

Anyways, Sunday was a trip! Definitely one of the best events yet. Over 120 cars running, some clubs showing off their rides, it was really cool. Got to see my first Japanese right-hand-drive Evo7 and a 2004 Viper among other very cool cars. My runs were ok... my second was pretty good, but I had fun & I didn't care. I took 37MB of photos, when I get a chance to chop a few I'll put some up.
Reminder.

The next ER event will be on the 13th of July, next week on Sunday. Hopefully the weather holds up & there can be another great turn out. Hope to see some of you there.
Oh, they're cutting off registration at 10am so be there early. And... bring sunblock (ouch!) Here are 3 pics from the event, my camera died before I could finish the memory card.

Evo 7

Is anyone making it down to Miami for the event this Sunday? We can all get together & hit Hooters after the race is over.
This week's event was also really good.

Although fewer cars this time around, organization was top notch and the event went more smoothly than ever. We were able to get all groups 4 runs and have it all done by 3:30pm.

We were allowed to take $1 laps after the event had ended. Run as much as you want for $1 per lap. Funny enough, my best recorded time was 48.6, but during the $1 laps I set my best time of 47.6! Drat.

The turnout was definitely a Japanese Invasion. There were at least 6 nice S2000's running, not to mention the gackle of WRX's and the lone white WRX STI. No Lancers! Would've been nice to have seen a battle between those two. I was glad to see that Wavrdr got to make it down to see the show, I hope he can turn that turbo loose on these non-believers next time.

The pics will come up shortly...
Sweet
I put the rest of the pics in the pics & vids section... let me find them.

AutoX
Just so you all know, this next event will be the last one ER hold's at Metrozoo. They'll be in Hialeah after that, with a new schedule coming shortly.

If you haven't come out yet, you really should. It's a lot of fun.
... plus spectating is free.
Well, hope to see some of you there. Alan, definitely hope to see your 'tour rip up the track.
