Posted By: csc99svt Re: wideband O2 meter interest... - 10/02/03 06:16 PM
is this basically the first home unit to allow users to tune their own tweecers and safc's and the like.....i would def be ineterested depending on time frame of group buy, starting to get a little closer to christmas now, so money gets a little tighter....but i will def keep my eyes on this one.....

Nice! They normally go for $350, so how much would the GB price be?

I'm in.

It's a complete system for accurately monitoring A/F ratio.

It would work on any internal combustion gas engine. Yes even your lawn mower... (though you may get looked at funny welding an O2 bung on it's muffler )
Posted By: Kremithefrog Re: wideband O2 meter interest... - 10/03/03 02:36 AM
Any use for this on a zetec? Do all those tuner things work on a zetec the same as a svt. I don't think anyone has anything more than custom burnt chips on their zetecs. Just planning for the future.
Posted By: Livinsvt_dup1 Re: wideband O2 meter interest... - 10/03/03 03:26 AM
Looks pretty intresting. Whats the general concensus on bosh sensors. I see it says you can swith.
Posted By: Kremithefrog Re: wideband O2 meter interest... - 10/03/03 03:28 AM
Bosch is what you'll use on a contour.
Posted By: Swazo Re: wideband O2 meter interest... - 10/03/03 03:29 AM
To VW or Honda sensors.....

How does self tuning you air fuel ratio accurately on any car without the need for a dyno sound?
Yes some way to alter the A/F ratio is needed as well.

I'm totally in!!

I need this bad, at as big a discount as can possibly be arranged.

Posted By: Barge Re: wideband O2 meter interest... - 10/03/03 02:49 PM
It will work on any car... you just have a weld an O2 bung into your exhaust. The only problem with the V6 tours is that you really don't want it after Cats. So those with pre-cats would need to remove them to get an accurate reading. Though I imagine most of the people that want to get in on this are the ones that have ripped most of the stock stuff out.. or modded it.
Posted By: DemonSVT_dup1 Re: wideband O2 meter interest... - 10/03/03 07:22 PM
With headers or gutted precats you can just use a secondary O2 bung and leave the O2 hanging (well strapped up to a heatshield anyway)
Posted By: Russell-3L Re: wideband O2 meter interest... - 10/04/03 04:04 AM
im interested depending on price
Posted By: Josch_dup1 Re: wideband O2 meter interest... - 10/04/03 06:59 AM
I may be interested. What would be a ballpark type price, and how many people would you need to get this off the ground?
Posted By: Toadster_dup1 Re: wideband O2 meter interest... - 10/04/03 05:35 PM
ok - so i got some details, but still need to bottom out on the deal...

for 5 units we can get $25 off (so $325 each)
for 10+ units, we get $35 off ($315 each)

you guys still interested? if so, post here
Posted By: obicanobi0_dup1 Re: wideband O2 meter interest... - 10/05/03 03:14 AM
Well I am def in on this. I actually wanted it ASAP but i can wait if it will save me some $. I will check with my guy and see if maybe he can get me a better deal for the group buy.

Hey Warmonger,

How do you think we can hook this up to the emanage so we can data log it with all the other stuff?
Posted By: warmonger_dup1 Re: wideband O2 meter interest... - 10/05/03 03:24 AM
The E-01 has the capability to interface the O2 sensor that greddy provides. It may be able to substitute this.

However, you wouldn't need to. This thing will datalog for you and you can do it as a function of rpm and other inputs. You can datalog with both the O2 meter and the eManage at the same time then correlate them with rpm as the common factor. both will be loaded into the laptop, then you can make a spreadsheet and give yourself air fuel.
nice.

So $315 if we get 10? I like it, but does that include shipping?

war....

Posted By: Toadster_dup1 Re: wideband O2 meter interest... - 10/13/03 11:31 PM
well the basic premise is that I collect all the emails from members wanting to do a group purchase, once we hit that magic number then you all get an email notifying you of the pricepoint and a coupon code to get that price... you pay via your own credit card and shipping to your destination.

so folks, if you're interested - PM me your email addy.

I'm going to set Thursday (10/16/03) as my 'stop' date

Thanks!

Sorry, I'm going to hold off a bit before I get one.

would it be a bad thing to leave the sensor itself in at all times?
Posted By: SpecialEdGT Re: wideband O2 meter interest... - 10/15/03 02:51 PM
ok, my wife will kill me but what use is one meter on a dual-exhaust car?

Toadster, if you get to your deadline and only have 9, I'll get one more (total of 2 for me) to put us into the lower price range.

Not as long as you keep the control unit on when the sensor is in. The "heat pump" keeps the unit from getting gunked up. Gunk is a technical term.

Im in. Pm with email sent, Todd.

Thanks for the work.

Posted By: Barge Re: wideband O2 meter interest... - 10/15/03 03:23 PM
I was reading the user manual online and it addresses leaving the unit on the car all the time and how to intall it.. all that jazz.
Posted By: Badog Re: wideband O2 meter interest... - 10/15/03 04:44 PM
You READ the manual? Wow! Don't you know that will posion your mind?

The thing that PISSES me off is that they change the release date on this:

Quote:

In addition it has a Mini-DIN7 socket for the Aux Cable #1 for those inputs not used or switched of in the AuxBox. This cable is slated to be available by January 15th, and is targeted to sell for apprx. $199 (subject to final product release).

To Jan 15 of 2004. It WAS 10/15.

That is slimy. I hate that. At least they could have added a news section or made note of the delay.

Posted By: Blorton_dup1 Re: wideband O2 meter interest... - 10/15/03 05:24 PM
Anyone have an idea what the upper rpm limit will be on this thing's inductive pickup?

No, I'm not planning on building *that* wild of a 3.0, but it sure would be nice to be able to also use this on the bike(12k redline).

Hi guys, I just happen to visit your forum today after dealing with Mr. Warmonger in the past on the e-manage (Hi Warmonger :-), long time no talk), Anyway I noticed the talk about the LM-1 Digital Air/Fuel Ratio Meter group buy, I have seen it in use and used it on my own car, I don't own one yet tell they fix a connector issue, the unit works great, uses a great sensor and excellent wiring (VW/Audi harness, Bosch sensor, etc)....it works good on the dyno if the unit is held in place flat (no movement), in the car the unit will be all over your hands or the floor/seat moving, problem is the cable that connects the sensor harness to the main unit does not hold securely in, any movement in that cable throws an error code on the screen, specially when held vertically (cable connects from the bottom of the unit), I think they should have used a connector that holds in place with some screw, like the pc serial port connation, or a round nut, or any lock that holds in securely....This is just an advice for anyone getting the LM-1 and face the same problem, some might tell you that they don't have that problem, but after repeated use of the unit it will happen.

I got many clear pictures on the unit in and out, even the Manuel pages pics, let me know if you want to see them...

How about if anyone has issues with not understanding the correct procedure to follow?

You told us to call that one person, but he hasn't seemed to return anyone's calls. Then you seemed to convey that it's just a matter of getting our information to the sales people and then he will do the group buy. I'm a little reluctant to do that because I don't want an oopsie to happen and get charged full price.

So for the slow people amongst us (raises hand), what exactly are we supposed to do to complete the transaction.

Thanks!
Dan -looking for a deal on the eManage.

I've called 3 different days and only get voice mail. I never get a call back.

I also agree with Bubba (err... Dan) about that email message being very vague on the final price. It's like they will charge more without warning if one person doesn't get them their information in time???

We're trying it's just no one is ever there or calls back!
Posted By: DemonSVT_dup1 Re: wideband O2 meter interest... - 10/20/03 06:19 PM
Just called again.

This is well beyond old now.

Todd - Since this is a friend of yours how about you find out when he actually is at work and give us a time frame to call him. Otherwise this GB will probably never happen...

Thanks...
Posted By: Blorton_dup1 Re: wideband O2 meter interest... - 10/20/03 06:23 PM
What he said - or if he wants to work it so we can just call the regular sales number and give a secret password or something, that'd be fine with me.

Me, I'm worried that since we have/had exactly 10, that some will back out due to the hassle. If that happens, I'm not sure how well this thing will go over with the only slightly reduced price that brings.

Thanks for prompting me to change my nick, Demon.

So few of us have serious mods, and there's a lot that do but are selling their cars (or trying to). I can think of two just from the southeast.
Posted By: Toadster_dup1 Re: Call him now... - 10/21/03 02:54 AM
what kills me is that i hit up the local 'stang group here in Sacramento (http://www.sacstangs.com) and those guys have some SERIOUS mods - nobody signed up for the group purchase... I thought they (of all people) would have jumped on this deal... most digital lambda type meters are $2k!

I'll check with Cort to see what the tally is...

When I spoke with him, he said he was just waiting for a couple more to call before shipping them out. Maybe he'll be nice and ship ours out when 6 or 7 of us have called in. I still think at least one person on the list is gonna back out.

And I can relate to not being able to understand how some people pass something like this up.

For example, I forwarded the info on this to a friend of mine that also rides a crotch rocket, and he wasn't interested. This is someone that is a programmer and made his own connector cable to interface his palm pda to the fuel injection modifier on his bike - and is constantly tweaking maps to boot. Unbelievable!

c'mon guys! I've done my part - just follow through! I'd hate to see this fail, the LM-1 has SO much potential to help you guys tuning your cars!!!

heck, I'm not even benefitting from this! I can't even modify the A/F ratio on my '6' yet! - I just wanted to get you guys a good deal!!!
Posted By: Blorton_dup1 Re: wideband O2 meter interest... - 10/23/03 11:25 AM
Todd,

You've got everyone's email. Howsabout dropping a condensed version of the ordering information to those addresses that haven't ordered, along with a reminder that it needs to be finished up this week? That should move things along, especially if one or more of the buyers only signed up on this forum to get in on this group buy.

Oh, and you aren't the only one unable to modify your a/f curve yet. I'm snagging this now and looking for a deal on an e-Manage later.

Thanks,
Dan

Are you saying you paid for faster shipping and they said it's going out right away, or did you go ahead and pay full price(and bail on the GB)?

we have at least 5, we should just get that at that price. I wanna play with my new toy

hmmm....now I know of a local wideband o2.....hopefully headway will be made with regards to a twEECer for my computer code in the new year!

I just wish I had the money to get one before I had my headers recoated so I could have got one and welded in a bung for it

So what's the latest? Is this still on? We gonna declare an end date on this to weed out the people that have obviously lost interest?

Just wondering....

Evan - you've had your headers out a time or 2. Any idea if an O2 bung hole could be drilled without removing the exhaust manifolds??
Posted By: timeless420_dup1 Re: wideband O2 meter interest... - 10/29/03 02:51 PM
Well heres the sitauation. The ideal setup is close to the head (not sure what the consensus is on what cylinder) and before any catalysit. In my case is is possible to take care of the second requirement since I have no precats, but for you that's a different case. For the first requirement, things get more complicated. The front bank is the only one that you "MAY" be able to drill into without removeing the manifild from the car, but you still have pre-cats so I don't think metal shavings falling in tere would be too good. Since I have headers I could just drop the y-pipe and let them fall out, but then you stil have the problem of welding in the bung in such a confined space.

You can still run this after the cats, but If I were going to do it all over again that's the way I would do it, but that won't happen since I think I'm done tweeking the car and it's time to save for a new toy (thinking S4 with AWE turbo upgrade and KW stage 3 coilovers).
FYI - this group buy is being closed today...
FYI - only 5 people had paid.
when are they gonna ship?

So the 5 of us get to pay $10 more than if the slackers hadn't flaked out. I can deal with that. At least we get $25 off this way.

Thanks again for doing this, Todd!

Mad props to them for that.

I card hasn't been charged yet

Have they been siped or doesn't anyone know?
Posted By: Blorton_dup1 Re: Hot Damn! - 11/04/03 09:45 PM
I just called and was told mine shipped on Friday. They say 3-5 days shipping time.

The charge I thought I saw hit promptly disappeared. I'm thinking it was just an authorization and the real charge will appear in a day or two.

And for anyone that missed out on this - wanna buy mine?
Looks like I may not be needing it after all.

Cause I wrecked my car and am scrounging funds towards a replacement. There's a thread about it under Duratec Performance.

Edit: Just checked and the real cc charge hit last night. $324 for me. Kinda strange that Demon was charged $9 less. (shrug)

I was just responding to your news. I have not seen the charge yet.

However $324 sounds right for the $315 price plus shipping so it looks like they did give us the best price.

i got mine yesterday, talk about great timing, the same day i get the 3L running! now its time to tune that beast
Posted By: warmonger_dup1 Re: Hot Damn! - 11/22/03 01:54 AM
Well, I got mine tonight!

Lucky I was home to receive it. It seems like it is going to kick ass with all those auxilliary inputs and the datalogging software. Seems I can completely tune a car from the inputs on this bad boy.

Posted By: LBVSVT_dup1 Re: Hot Damn! - 11/23/03 12:07 AM
Anyone figure out where to put this yet? I was under the car and I'm thinking in the y-pipe is about the only accessable place to put it. I know it's after the pre-cats, but hey if dyno's are using sniffers in the tailpipes this can't be all bad.

Also, outside of tripping a CEL what's wrong with just unscrewing an O2 sensor and screwing this unit in to get the A/F ratio?
