I am currently doing research on making foglights for Contours. They will be equiped with powerful projectors, manufactured by either Bosch or Hella.

The lenses on them will be totally clear, and they will be smoked out, resembling Foglights used on BMWs.

I am going to make myself a set in either case. However, if there is substantial interest, I am not going to keep this technology to myself. They are gonna be offered through MM.

Finally, I estimate the price to be anywhere between 200-300 (per set), depending on labor, parts, and etc.

These should be available March 1st of this year.

Let me know if you guys would like to see these made.

These lights are gonna be true foglights! They will have no resemblence to the PIAA 510s, nor will they function like them. Please do not confuse the two. Those who are in SlimShady's GB, please take note of this!!
I'm in. I'm an MM slut. I"m tired of my PIAA's. Can we get these fitted with Xenon's?

Suneil
As in flooded yellow beam real foglights?
I'll take those PIAA's off your hands?
Allright, I'll sell 'em to ya when I get the MM fog lights, PM me so I can remember to sell 'em to ya when I get these bad boys on. . .

you know i need the matching set!!!
headlights!!!!!!!!!
fogs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
both projectors, OH MY!!!!!!
These will most likely come with a high wattage halogen bulb. The color output for now is gonna be bright white. Upgrading the bulbs to PIAA Xtra or platinum, as well as Ion is gonna be an extra option.

As far as HID is concerned, I will look into this option. However, I can't see (too many) people paying close to a grand for a set of fog lights...

I am gonna do my best to design these ASAP, and then post the pics of these on the car, and of course some night time pics too.
FOG LIGHTS VS DRIVING LIGHTS: WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?

Foglights are defined according to the beam pattern they emit. This means that a true Foglight will have a beam pattern that is projected very wide and not too far ahead of the vehicle. The purpose of this is to provide the driver with as much light as possible, closer to the car so that the driver can see in bad weather... Thus, with Fog Lights on, the driver sees a concentrated band of light that forms a thick strip of bright light immediately in front of the vehicle, as well as to the sides.

Driving lamps (PIAA 510) on the other hand project a very narrow beam of light, very far ahead of the vehicle. This light is not effective in foul weather other than to supply you with additional light. But they do not provide light to the sides of the car. Also, driving lamps are more of a perfomance add on, as they mimick the high beam, but sit lower on the vehicle, and thus offend the on coming traffic somewhat less. This means that you get to drive with your low beams and high beams - sort of...

WHY GO WITH PROJECTOR FOG LIGHTS?

I have gone over the matter of why projectors are superior on many occasions beforehand. However, when it comes to driving in bad weather, the advantages of having projectors are multiplied.

As you know, a projector emits a bright, concentrated beam of light, that has a sharp cut-off at the horizon. This means that NO LIGHT IS PROJECTED ABOVE IT. And right there is the difference!! Why you ask?

Lets examine a normal fog light, with the traditional lens that splatters stray light in all directions. Anyone that has driven through rain or snow is familiar with the dangerous "Video Game Syndrome". You are driving your car, but it really looks like you are standing there and the road is coming at you, like in a video game. This is due to the fact that the light emitted from your lights is reflected by the rain and snow particles BACK INTO YOUR EYES! So the very devices that are there to help you see, are actually contributing to the horrible conditions on the road!

With projector beams, there is no such thing as stray light, since all of it is concentrated down on the road. This means that the dangerous light reflection is eliminated to an extent of 99%. All you see is light on the road, and your vision is greatly enhanced.

As you can see, there are advantages of having projectors in your Fog Lights. Not only do they look cool, but they are actually functinal too. The same questions were raised when I introduced the Headlight Units. And the same can be said for them. These are not just a mere cosmetic upgrade, but are legitimate peformance oriented lights.

Hope I answered some questions...
more interested in pre98 projectors and tail lights, but fogs would be cool. i need some money though.
i would be interested in them along w/ full headlights down the road maybe a few months.
Good! So they'll be real foglights. I'm down for that if price is right along with the projector headlights. Let me know if you're going to make them though because I've been holding off on replacing the headlights and foglights since you said you're going to make projector ones.
I may buy some if they're closer to $200 and only cool people buy them. my stocks are all melty, and i'm prolly giving them away with my body kit.
The PIAA 510's are both a FOGLIGHT and DRIVING LIGHT

ION which is very similar to the IS300 is a FOGLIGHT that puts out a very wide beam, which is yellow btw
SUPERWHITE which is a driving light puts out a strong bright light that to be honest lights up the sides of the road enough for me.

AS for blinding oncoming traffic really isn't true as long as you don't aim them up, Mine are aimed just right to where
i can see alot better and further then my headlights can output, I also can drive with my headlights on and my piaa's too.

I don't know how much brighter you will make yours compared to the piaa's but whatever the case good luck.

The average price for the PIAA 510 are anywhere from $200-$230.00 (GB price was $165 and $175) Me personally i wouldn't pay $300.00 for a set of fogs nor would i pay the piaa price thats why i set up a GB.
What exactly do you mean by this?

I meant that they will not be like the 510 Driving Lights. I was not aware that you also did the 510 Fogs...

Anyway, we will see what happens. BTW, these lights will bolt up to factory brackets...
Is this for Contours inly or will there be a round-in-rectangle version for Mystiques too?
I am interested. When i have the money im going to get the headlights, and it about be nice to have some matching fogs. I sure it will look good with the both.
