Josh Posted this in the general forum cause he couldn't find the old thread....

Hey guys,
For those that followed the thread left in the Group Buy section, here is some up to date info. For those that didnt follow the other post, heres some info for you as well.

This past week, we put a cougar on the lift and discussed some ideas on a true dual exhaust setup. End result...it will be alot of work. cost for the kit will also be high. Currently we make an exhaust similar to what it would look like. Our T-bird kit, pretty much piggy backs the whole way, as this kit would as well. Therefor we know we can make it. However, for the amount of work involved, we would have to take deposits. This is largely due to the uncertain demand the kit may have. Also as it looks now, we would not have anything done for about 6 months. Thats not how long it will take to make the kit, we just have other things going on now.

For now, please give me a final show of hands, that would be willing to make a deposit on the kit. We wont take deposits for afew more months though. For reference, the approximate cost of an ALUMINIZED kit would be about $700.00. The deposit would run about $100.00 and we would need atleast 10 people.

Let me know if anyone has any questions.

$700 is cheap for true duals with mufflers! Everyone who wants this and can't weld your own, I'd say jump on this!!! Demand should be high as that's cheaper than what people are already spending for minimal improvements over stock from aftermarket Y-pipes and Bassani or Borla cat backs. 6 months kinda sucks though...

Agreed, at first look it seems high, but when you take into account the cost of a high flow y-pipe and a good cat back, the price is about the same.

Take into account that it's aluminized steel not stainless steel though.

yes but not everyone is concerned with laying on their garage floor and looking at their exhaust piping......

Anyhow,

he's trying to see the number interested, so if anyone's interested say I.

I
I
ME But 6 months may be too late
what's up with us californians any chance your gonna fit two cats under there. i was under the car the other day to change the oil and it looks like there would be room for two small cats side by side or you could run the two on end
===<====>========
=========<====>====

<====> = cat
in other words you could fit 2 cats closer together, if they wernt dead next to each other.
I would be interested depending on diameter. As Brad knows I'll probably be getting a 3.0L swap, so I'm aiming for 2.25'' diameter...
6 months is a little long though.

Gus.

It's not for the pretty sight. Aluminized steel will rust out a lot sooner than stainless (basically won't rust out before your car is way past its life.

Wash your car on the underside and you won't have a problem. The aluminized piping can last 10+ years easy if you take care of it...

i think all he is saying is that for 700 dollars, you shouldnt have to baby your exaust system so that it lasts longer......700 sounds like a stainless price to me....If it was i would definately be in.

Its a stainless price for a system with only one muffler and piping. T-duals you'll need two flex pipes, two mufflers, two cats, two tips, "H" or "X" pipe, twice as much pipe. Price it out....it is expensive!

Oh yeah I had the VERY first system Josh put out on my cougar which was aluminized and bnoon can attest it looks brand new yet, no rust at all even in the salty roads of the frozen north!

i stand corrected... hahaha... but you cant knock me for trying to barter with the price!!

I agree on getting the lowest price but I also would love to see a system like this made, Mmmm.....mandral bent bolt on T-duals....

What will be the expected price for the stainless steel option? 200-300$ more?

and in the other topic he talk about increased cost if we want 2" insteaf of 2.25"???

so the idea of a true duals GB started last september, so 9 month to get the first one...

i actually dont mind the six month time period, just as long as i have it before the summer... Plus, payment plans are the best way to go, so i have money to spend on other stuff..... Also, what do you think shipping would end up being for a the whole setup, probubly a lot..

You're insane. A SS quasi-dual system is $600!

$700 is a bargain for a setup like this.
IIRC some muffler shop in MI was selling POS crush bent duals for like $1200. Now that's a freakin' rip off & crush bent to boot!
So... they are 2.25'' diameter??? Anyone?

edit: One more thing... they'll come with cats right??? I still wanna have a shot at emissions.

I still think it's a little high for aluminized steel. I think it's reasonable for aluminized steel if it's about $500-600. BTW, it's not twice everything. A quasi-dual uses two mufflers. You don't need to run flex pipe, use spring bolts. And Cat? What's that? So the extra would be the extra pipe, and the X-pipe. We're talking about aluminized steel. Now if it's staliness steel, I wouldn't mind paying upwards to $1000 for a true dual.
