8/25 Update on Body Kit GB for 98+ Contours.
What's up everyone? As most of you know, I ran into a major snag that put a disturbing delay on the kit. The company I purchased the donor kit from tried to hold on to over $1100 that I paid while they waited for a kit that was on back order until late september to be in stock. I now have that money back and we're ready to roll again.
Because of a number of reasons including the length of getting this off the ground, people buying other cars, others backing out and the CEG changing servers, we only have about 20 confirmed people who want to go in. For the $650 price quoted, we need at least 30. I am in the process of getting some more guys as I type this.
If I have to sell my soul to Satan himself, this group buy will happen. I feel bad that we did not meet my goal of having this wrapped up by the end of July but you have to roll with the punches. Everything is still lined up with Carisma so once I have a confirmed number, we're going to be moving forward either with Lennys SVT or mine. as usual, if any of you have any questions I can be reached at

Do you have any pictures of what this kit looks like? I assume that it doesn't come painted...
this is the same front end we're going with except it's on a mondeo in this picture. u get the idea though and yes it will be unpainted.

the rear fascia will be somewhat similiar to this with room for exhausts of all sizes.
Will any part of this kit be able to fit pre-98 'tours? How bout making a kit for pre-98s,, it can't be that hard.. Pleazzzze!!!
The side skirts and rear will fit a Pre98. I'd just get Micah's front bumper and go with that.

Just a couple of questions.
Is the front bumper going to be sticking out as little as a mondeo bumper?
Would the front and rear bumpers have the matching line thats on the doors and stock bumpers?
And will the sideskirts bolt up to the existing hardware?
Is this kit fiber glass or CF. How much lighter if any is it than stock? I gotta get those side skirts!!!
will this kit be available in the future from carism or is this a one time thing?
How much air flow is the front going to be seeing? Compared to stock, I will be using an aftercooler and I want cooling!!
Any ideas on how much more drag this is going to have versus stock?

no part will be sold separately. only way to get one piece is to go in with someone else. as leo and myself are doing. i'm sure someone can make the front fit. svt front bumpers have been fitted to pre 98's before micah got the pre 98 svt bumper developed. contact beyondloadedse for price info. he had the svt front bumper fitted to a pre 98.
I know of someone that wants a body kit for their Contour. The owner doesn't visit this site but I'll be sure to let her know about this to help get to the 30 peopled needed.

Things are about ready to roll with the body kit and I'm now compiling the final list of everyone going in on the group buy. If you are in and are willing to place a deposit of $150 by September 13 to hold your spot, please get back to me at
groundefx@hotmail.com. If you have already placed a deposit, stay tuned as your dreams for a body kit finally come true. As soon as everyone has placed a deposit, a final release date will be set for the kit (mid-late October at the latest). Remember the total for the kit will be $650 and your deposit will go towards that final price. A final list will be posted as soon as I have all the deposits and information frome everyone going in.

unfortunately, you will not be able to go in on this group buy if you want wait around for pictures. i tried to play mr. nice guy for a while and lost months of time trying to get more and more people to get in on this. 30 people is all we need and as soon as I have deposits from all 30 people, we're rolling.

The donor kit will be purchased this week (again) and immediately shipped to Carisma. there will be no problems receiving the kit this time and Carisma should receive it sometime in the early part of next week. I have some new details on the body kit that is very exciting. We will be moving the body kit from Carisma Auto Tech to Andys Auto Sport where I will be working directly with their designer/production guy to get this Group Buy off the ground. The price will stay at $650 as originally planned and we are still on the same schedule as before.
We now have the opportunity to have a kit custom designed for our car, all the way from sketches to a final kit. If we choose to go this route, we're looking at 3 months for everything to be complete and the kit shipped to your door. If we go with the RS4 kit as planned which is a kit for the Audi A4, we're looking at a month and a half for the kits to be complete as originally planned.
I'm heavily leaning towards going with a custom design thats based on the principals all 30+ of us are looking for and unless for some insane reason there is a conflict with this, we will be going this route.
We now have the opportunity to get Projector Headlights, Fiberglass hood with custom scoops, custom fenders, wide body kits and damn near anything body-wise that the interest is there for. I will be working out Group Buy's for all of these things depending on the interest from the CEG.
I hope everyone here shares the level of excitement as this is a pretty large step the Contour has just made for custom aftermarket parts. The Body Kit will continue as is, we will now just be working with a fresh new design that is made specifically to flow well with the lines of our cars. hay i am the designer that will be doing your kit. I am currently at Andy's Autosport as the director of R&D but I am starting my own design studio with in the month. We will specialize in headlight taillight and widebody conversions, turbo kits, intakes, exhaust systems, and pretty much anything else to go in or with a car or truck. If you guys are interested with a widebody kit as said earlier we could do that after the first kit is done. I hope to see you guys giving terry a big thank you and i hope you will be pleased with my craftsmanship.

I think it would be better to go with the original plan and stick with this kit.. Everyone that went in on the group buy liked the original idea thats why they signed up and sent in deposits.. I think since we have waited long enough we should get this group buy done first and then think about something else... Good job though Hella on getting this back on track... A month sounds great to me...

I like the current kit too, that's why i made the deposit but I would like to know what you had in mind for the 'custom' kit? I think that would rock! If it's different enough people won't compare it to another kit or car.
If you could supple sketches within a week I think some of us would rather wait for that if the sketchs look worth while. Personally I can wait till Dec/Jan since schools in session and most of my time is devoted to studying currently.
i can't wait for months, but personally think it'll be hard to make a kit that looks better than the current plan...can u post a new list of paid peoples...
Hella -- I won't be ordering a kit, but I wish I had another contour to mess around with. Your kits are gonna look awesome! You should definitely try to copyright the design. That would make these ground effects a real "Limited Edition" and possibly even ADD value to these SVTs as time goes by...

Hella, when you say the same kit as planned, which is that? I haven't been around much of this GB, and I don't really intend to read this whole thread. I'm assuming you're referring to the pics shown above of the front, side and rear body kit as we talked about via email.

I found a site in the UK that has a body kit similar to this. They also have other kits available. The price has to be converted from pounds and the shipping would be high but it could be another possiblity???

Sorry, I was referring to the blue Mondeo - didn't know if they were complimenting Spatt's nice SVT or the Mondeo.

Shipping is not going to be an issue, it should be somewhere between $30-$50 at the most. We're looking at 2 1/2 weeks when the donor contour will be provided and the kit will be custom fitted to the car. mid-late october when the kit has been molded on the Contour. I'll post if for some reason that changes.
I'm getting excited again.. I noticed it a few weeks ago, and today I saw it again, the paint on my back bumper is peeling off! The spot is about the size of a 20oz bottle laying horizontal. I plan to make my current bumpers winter ones anyway so I'm not too worried, but I can't wait to get this kit!

I don't know if it was discussed earlier in the 15 pages of this post but will the KIT share the same lines as the Contour/SVT to the front and rear?
I reread your first post, and am I to understand this is a pre-made kit for another car that you are modifiying to fit? I think Audi right?
The reason why I bring this is up is because I got a chance to sit next to my car while it was on the Dyno for TWO hours and while staring at her I really feel the new KIT will need to share these same characteristics (the lines). It don't want to interupt the fine lines of the Contour
I hope the option is the latter of the two (that being with lines to bring consistancy). Thanks Terry.

all i can say is that the kit will flow well with the lines of the Contour. im getting this done for the people who want something a little more aggressive than the svt kit but still clean in it's design.
any idea if a front will be made for pre98s? if you make one say, around april-june of next year, i'd definetly be in on it.
i was wondering about the mounting ? i have a SE and will i have to drill a sh!t load of holes to mouth this body kit ?
i believe the back will just replace the current bumper,, side skirts shouldn't be too hard, probably just a few holes, maybe clips or something.

I don't mean to be an ***hole and hijack this thread, but why are those headlights not compatible with our cars? They look identical to ours! Anyone out there know?
Milan there's been 35,000 posts about this in the aesthetics section. Our headlights are not in fact the same as the Mondeo and they require much modification to get them to fit. If you'd like, you could hold off for a month and wait until we're ready to get a group buy going on the Projector Headlights which will look better than those. Now, if anyone has questions about those headlights or that booty Mondeo, please take them to the Aesthetics forum as I'm seriously on the verge of pulling my hair out about people asking about that ugly ass car... damn

Chris at the shop has gone out of his way to make this group buy and the Contour his main priority and we're lucky to be working with such a class act.

10-16-02 Update
As Nirish mentioned above, his car was delivered to the shop so we're all ready to get started. The donor kit is due to arrive tomorrow or Friday so things are all set on our end. I will be sending Chris the deposits early next week and then the rest of the payment will be due in 5-6 weeks after the kit has been custom molded to Nirish's car with pictures for everyone to see.
We are in the creative stages of working on a new custom grille and projector headlights so lookout for more information on those in the upcoming weeks. I've received address confirmations from a few of you so if you have not sent me the address you want this kit shipped to, make sure you get in touch with me so I can keep the database up to date and organized. I was planning on selling by SVT buying a '95 TwinTurbo Supra but I truly love my SVT and the Contour in general. The aftermarkets picking up due to the head strong individuals we have. I'm glad you guys didn't abandon the car either.
Plus, I'm sure i'll turn the heads of everyone on the road with this new breed of aftermarket. It's not like the SVT didn't already...

just a side question. i'm just curious so i'll ask. who prefers the tauras rage front end (the red contour shown). i think the lines are far better than the rs4 front end. our cars aren't boxy enough to pull it off. those mondeos look nice but not great. the red photoshopped contour's front end looks natural (meaning unbodykit). no one would know it was a body kit. just curious if anyone else agrees.

thats cuz the taurus sux. it actually follows the style of the rs4 but imo is different enough where is looks better and more natural.
Hey guys, I have a question to ask you. I know this should be in another forum but i figured that i should put in in here to keep this alive... When i go and start my car in the morning its goes fine for about 10 seconds, then it makin this big a$$ like,,, ummm, not humming knows, its a lot more high pitched, its like a really high pic verson of when you whistle and humm at the same time. When i rev it up, its fine, its only does it at around a 700 rpm idle. Whats goin on? :
you should really ask that somewhere else, in fact, how bout going and asking that in a different forum. and to anybody that buys this kit and ever sells the kit or your car in the future (or just sells the front bumper) let me know, because if somebody other than micah doesn't make a front bumper for pre98s, i want to do a custom job (and using the front from matching kit would make sense).

ok everyone, here are some in-progress pictures of the front bumper. As you can see, Chris is molding the bottom part of the RS4 bumper into the SVT bumper to ensure that this kit follows the lines of the Contour. He was able to make the sidevents work too so the finished product will look extremely smooth and clean like it came from the factory. Don't worry about how choppy it is now, it is guaranteed to come out Extra Smooth!
With an Eibach drop and stock tires, the front end will be well over 5 inches from the ground in the front and just a tad lower on the sides of the front end. As I said originally it will be higher than the mirko spoiler and a little bit lower than the SVT front. Everyone with a drop has been kept in mind! We can raise it up some if you guys want but i think it's totally unnecessary and it will take away from the overall look.
Below you will also find a WRX style hood scoop that Chris is offering to us. It will be a full fiberglass hood replacement with hoodpins and that scoop for $350. Carbon Fiber will also be offered too. We need 10 guys to get that group buy off the ground and the turnaround time will be QUICK!
So this front bumper will be strikingly similiar to this image that Honkeytonk photoshopped for us except we will have the original vents from the RS4 bumper! Chris does incredible work and we're lucky as hell for him to be doing this for us.

sounds good to me,,, looks like the kit will look real nice. i hope the hood is available for pre98s and made next year, so i can afford it, i've decided on doing mainly aesthetics mods for now as performance will be very costly (except funny gas). the front looks like it would look good with z3 style fenders, too bad i couldn't have gotten in on that group buy as well.

about the hood, i imagine as functional it will let heat out not air into the intake, as it will be for two different engines. Ram air hood would be nice though and would save me CAI cost.

But the filters re just abut in the same place for both engines. I agree there should be a scoop over the intake for induction.

hey guys the kit will be available after the bb is over but it will not be at this much of a discount. As for the hood terry is working on getting me the stuff for the f50 scoop that you all liked. If not that then the wrx modified version and it can come in cf and will be functional. this will have a bb also, and after both are done, you can buy the kit and the hood and receive a discount but not as good as the bb price.
So, How much is the cf hood with the scoop if we are buying the bodykit in this gb? 250?

Actually the downpayment was due a few months ago. The rest is due at completion of the kit. But as far as I know this group buy is closed. It will be available after the group buy is over, but not at this discounted price.

I had a dream I got my car back and it ended up being a white Oldsmobile Intrigue with shaved door handles, a wing and converted to a 2door chop top... LOL funkiest ass dream I've ever had related to my car. Damn, had that dream last night and it seemed so real.
no bumper problem, there was a brief issue but that was resolved. kits will start shipping late December/early January and it will be on a first come first serve basis. This means that the faster you make your payment, the faster you will receive your kit. We will have finished pictures up in the next 2 weeks as Nirish mentioned and from there payments will be requested.
As I said before do not b*llshit on payments. You guys have had months to have this money put aside and I don't want to hear ONE EXCUSE about not having the money when the time comes. I will not be breathing down anyone's back for payments. You all know what you need to do. You asked for a body kit and I delivered. Now it's just about time for you guys to do your part.
Detailed installation instructions hand-written from Chris himself will come along with the kit so all you do it yourselfers can install this after you have it painted. Of course it's usually better for the professionals to do this type of thing. Chris will also have a notes section that will tell you or your body shop things to look out for when installing and a general price range to expect from body shops for installation.

well has there been a solid price on the kit for the people who put in deposits. I am in a group that is buying one kit and we need to figure out how to split the cost so we can send in our money but we need a set price.

Excuse me, I wish the old group buys were saved in the archives. Obviously you do not remember everything that happened before any of these 37 page's were started. My deposit was sent in on May 24,(before page 1 even started) To garantee that I would be one of the first ten to get the kit. I have been a part of this group buy since day one. And have also had all the money for this set aside since then. SO Terry will get it as soon as I read the post to send it, but I check the forums on a every other day basis. And just wanted to make sure I am not going to end up last on the list if I dont log on the exact day he posts for payments. So don't roll your eye's at me.

If you have the money set aside, why keep it there if you're worried about timing. Send Terry the full payment, that's pretty Commen Sense if you ask me, I'm sure it'll make Terries job a whole lot easier when it comes time to get money from everyone...
Umm, I think the guys that made the first deposit should already have first crack at getting their kit since they helped get the initial ball rolling. I am one of these people and had terry asked for full payment up front I could have sent it then. Arguing about how early you sent payment is retarded as Terry never asked for it.
The first ten should have the right to get the first ten kits, give them 7-10 days to send payment once it is required by Terry. IF they fail to do so they lose their place in line. That is the fair way to handle this.
i think it should go in order of who paid deposits. i like getting a little more time before i have to pay, that way i can make sure i won't be borrowing money (x-mas bonus coming soon).

I agree, but my response is coming after Terries reply. though I think you'll be knocking on wood to think that when the BodyKit is ready everyone will need to wait 10-days for the first 10 before the other how many people can pay up. I'm sure Terry has everyone's email address (i hope) and will probably advise you folks when the time comes. 1 AM Pacfic time... sorry I'm late on this guys. Went out tonight even though I didn't think I would. It's been raining and I planned on staying home and writing to you guys about my first impressions of the kit in it's finishing stages.
Chris is a really stand up guy. He showed me basically everything, right down to how they keep the screws together in little individual bags so everything is accounted for.
The rain stopped on the 70 mile trek to Kaotic Innovations making the communte a little easier. A block a way I spotted my car sitting in their lot; the biggest grin I've had in a long time was plastered to my face. As we parked I saw my baby naked sitting in the rain. Chris was at the enterance to great us.
The purpose of todays visit was to drop off my 18" wheels and tires. We went out back just to look at the car and Chris took me on a walk around and then told us to wait while he grabbed the finished front bumper. He attatched the bumper and with a smile and my hands over my crotch to hold in the joy I said "oh my god" I laid a grin that would be near sin.
Seriously guys, the kit is drop dead beautiful. There were no headlights or grill since they sat in the trunk. Chris quickly grabbed them to give the added effect. My friend and I couldn't speak, just smile and smile more. We stood far and we stood near and from every angle at any distance it looked good. Damn good! The kit flows so perfectly with the Contour and mimicks the curves better than anyone could have anticipated. The kit sits low to the ground, not as low as the Mikro but low with my BAT suspension on the E1's.
Next we went into the shop itself to check out the rear bumper. I opted for him not to put it on the car simply because it was so damn cold. On the rear bumper: I think it looks better than any of us could imagine. I went in thinking it would look one way and kind of boxy like the RS4 kit. Kiddies, Chris doesn't play... the kit wraps around better than rubber on a stick. The outlets allow my Brullen 3.5" tips to have about an inch top and bottom and perfectly centered.
On thing Chris is dealing with at the moment is working on how the hangers are going to work for the dual exhaust. Ford built the bumpers so the hangers are integrated to the bumper and not the body. Chris is having to figure out how this is going to be accomplished so far he's taking the SVT hangers and working with them. From what I saw it looks like he might get it right. Chris has been working with Terry Haines on getting this done right. Don't worry children it will all be figured out soon.
On the quality of the fiberglass. Really good, very flexable. He gave me a fiberglass hood he made and told me to bend it. That bitch would bend and keep it's shape. You know how I said Chris is a stand up guy? Well he put the hood on the ground and walked on it. Not did he only walk on it he gave a little hop and stood there and talked to us for a while. I think the point was proven when he lifted the hood to show us no cracks or deformations. Don't try this @ home! But yeah, very impressive.... I don't think anybody would be complaning about the quality of the fiberglass.
On the side skirts: The jack stand points are being eliminated and the skirts will be molded more to the body. The skirts will flow from the end of the front bumper to the end of the rear making for a very nicely flowing kit all around. The original proposed side skirts have been ditched for these custom made ones. The car will have to be lifted on the front and back to put these suckers on.
Hoods Hoods Hoods! Yes there is going to be a hood made. This I didn't get to see a Contour specific application but he threw around some ideas including the WRX style which he did a quick mock up on the car sitting outside. Very aggressive and sweet.
All in all this visit made my rainy day weekend. The car is gonna look great! It's going to be about a month late due to some complications and the addition of a hood (not part of the kit). I will be posting installation instructions tomorrow to show you how well Chris has thought out everything for the professional and do-it-yourselfer. Of course he suggests only a professional install the kit. Part of this install kit comes with sealer, double stick tape and other various items to help you out. The kit will also come with good quality black wire mesh (not the cheap chicken wire sh!t).
Feel free to ask me any questions about my experiences on this forum. Sorry but I couldn't take pictures and Chris' was recently stolen. I went in thinking that Chris would have his camera on hand.
I sincerly don't think anybody can make a kit that's gonna look this good. The kit will go into production about 6 months after the bulk buy is over at a higher price. So you guys who miss out on it now will have an opportunity come spring time or summer.

i think you'd have to be a fool to make a whole other bumper and side skirt set when they're the same thing and countless people have swapped the OEM parts across the generation gap with no problems, i'm pretty sure the dude will just make a pre-98 front end and more rear bumpers and side skirts

I posted this also in the pre 98 group buy in case your wondering, but I wanted to ask you guys too.
Is there anyone in here that is getting the body kit that has a set of side skirts that they would want to sell? Not the skirts from the kit but the factory ones. I tried to buy some about a year ago but my family said no. Now they have no reason to say no.
Anyhow, I was wondering incase anyone wants to sell theirs as they replace it with the body kit set, or perhaps someone is buying your svt set to replace their SE set.
I was hoping for white to match my car, but I can just get them painted.

okay guy's, here's some pictures of the front end. I will post pictures of the sideskirts and rear fascia as soon as they're completed (almost there). hopefully these can hold you over for just a short while longer. sorry for the delay, I am personally making sure that this kit is absolutely stunning in all aspects. Kaotic, Nirish and myself are making no compromises so bare with us as we wrap this up! Mad props to Chris at Kaotic and Nirish for being incredibly professional, hard working and just overall good people to work with.

no, however the kit was designed so that it would be fairly easy to mount and install whatever style foggies you feel looks best. personally i'll be running Milan's HID headlights so I won't be too concerned about foglights with those.

nah, it's just the way the picture was taken. we have video footage we're going to drop soon so everyone can see just how nice and neat everything lines up.
Guy's were currently making some revisions to the back bumper and I will be sending them to Chris today. Once we get those squared away more pictures will be up. Sideskirts are due to be complete by next week. sorry for the delay and thanks for your patience.

I have two friends that I totally trust with my SVT and have taken possesion of it for a couple hours if I wasn't able to pick it up from the dealership and now they will NOT even touch it anymore with all the work that's been put into it.
You may drive the car, but as soon as I get it back the SVT engine is getting replaced with a 3L conversion
- yeah, gotta look fast and be fast - it's a high 14, low 15 second car right now - must go faster.

eventhough they wont have to fabricate the sideskirts and rear bumper to fit the pre98's they haven't even finished any of the 98+ kits yet...im thinking it should go faster than this first batch is going but i dont know about march 20...i am dying to see the full kit fitted though, especially since it'll look better on the older models
March 20th is 2 months... i guess it's hard to predict at this time...but 2 months seems reasonable, for just the front bumper, post 98 is nearly complete...
im going back to Miami in march...i wont dare pull up with a stock contour as my friends watch...lol...i personally dont like the pre-98's stock...just not me...well stock except for my 18"s...ACTUALLY...it's probably because i have blackies on..(no hubcaps..) that's prolly why it just really looks ghey at the moment..

The car was dropped off Oct. 14 and started two weeks after. Initial estimates were about two months (excluding one week for Thanksgiving and one week for xmas/nyrs holidays). There were some changes early on last year that delayed production plus the fact that the supplier of the body kit we used was taking way to long to ship the bumper.
Also realize that a hood is being done too. This will be separate and requires more time. The initial estimates were for just the 4 pc. body kit.
Thanks for hangin' in there. It's been a tough 3 months but Chris, Terry and I really want a kit that you guys are extremely happy with and we're doing everything we can to make sure it's perfect. Thanks again!

1-28-03 UpdateWhat's up everyone? Just wanted to let you all know the progress and what's going on right now. The sideskirts are now being finished as I type this. The original sideskirts that I sent Chris did not look right on the car so he is cooking us up a new, clean design. Check back frequently for pictures as they will be up soon.
Chris is also in the process of redesigning the back bumper because the original design from the Audi Kit proved to be too low for the Contour. Our exhaust sit's lower than the Audi A4 and after custom fitting it to our car, it was determined that it didn't look right. The new design will be a much better look for our cars and the same clean design principles and goals are still in mind. Because Chris know's the rear fascia much better now, it will not long to have the mold for the new design ready to roll. stay tuned.
So as of now we are a little behind schedule but we're looking to start shipping kits in 2-3 weeks. Thanks to all of you guys for your support and patience. Chris, Nirish and myself are all excited and anxious to roll this kit out for you. And trust me the end result will be more than worth the wait.

Did you cut up the bumper to make the exaust fit? You might have to hve the exaust hang lower to fit in the new bumper. But I do like what you've done to her already.
Yeah i trimmed about 1 1/2 off it casue it was a little low .

Hi Guys:
I thought I would give you an update since I just talked to Chris last night. Chris ended up having to move his shop to a new location; something about one of the renters in the complex going bankrupt
and Chris having to pick up their rent, so Chris set out to find a new shop. He's now settling into his new bungalow across the way.
I am going to Kaotic next Wednesday. You can imagine this would slow down business with the movement of equipment and all BUT the car is near completion
with the exception of the rear bumper which is being partically refinished. Chris will be sending photos shortly
- either before or after my visit.
I apologize for the delays guys
, much of it is due to shipping parts from the suppliers whom have taken forever in shipping parts.

I'm visiting the shop Wednesday like I said before and reasons why this stuff is taking longer than expected have been explained mulitple times by Terry and I. The Gods of Shipping have not been on our side plus some things didn't work (i.e. the side skirts, rear bumper). We have done our best to keep you all in the loop and ensuring this is the best kit for our audience.
Just be ready to soil your boxers on release date.
I've already soiled my boxer waiting, numerous times!

I know chris has had business issues and all that bad stuff but if i dont get this bumper soon i'm gonna be out even more cash and a few shows b/c i'm not gonna get my stock front-end resprayed then get the bumper re-sprayed again

that would be pretty dope...if they had like a $1500 kit or somethin that came with that hood, those lights, that front bumper, maybe some better side skirts and a rear, possibly a spoiler too...hmmmmmmmmm
we're doing our best to get this kit out for you guys. We have competition nipping at our heals, anxious customers talking smack and a deadline that we passed a month ago. It has taken more than a year to get this body kit off the ground and if you think I'm going to release a dissapointing product after all that time, you're definitely mistaken. The new deadline has been pushed to early March. The reason why?
1. Chris had to set up a new body shop after an unexpected situation arose with the shop he used to share space with.
2. The back bumper design did not look as good as we originally hoped. A redesigned rear fascia is being molded as we speak.
3. The first 2 sets of sideskirts did not look right. New ones are being sent to Chris and if everything turns out right these will work out to our satisfaction.
Some of you have chosen to lose your patience which is a little dissapointing since we're all in this together. I've invested 100's of hours of my time, $1000's of cash out of my own pocket and Chris has done the same and then some. Nirish has been without his SVT for 4 months and you don't see anything but optimism and confidence coming from all 3 of us. I expect the same from all of you.
Hold tight and I promise you this kit will meet all your expectations and then some.
I'm sure everyone is grateful to be apart of this, especially me, this kit couldn't be coming at a better time. My wife just informed me that she some how managed to scrape our front bumper a couple days ago. I wasn't all that upset because I know I'm just going to be replacing it with a much better one.

it's not that we have to wait...because i realize i have to wait even longer (pre-98) it's just what was told to us... and then no updates. Pictures of a non finished product is atleast something.
my guess is since they scrapped the other ones...which were probably going to be in the pictures...they haven't got far enough to be able to present us with the rear and sides
when they have the rear and the sides as far along as the front then my guess is they'll have pics then...

I have a question about the rear bumper. I dont know if anyone can answer since it's still being worked on and I dont remember it being said but are the exhaust holes going to be the same as the svt or will they be closer together or farther apart. Need to know for the Brullen exhaust gb.

Like imprtkllr said - they are trying to make the kit perfect which meant several revisions had to be made and somethings worked and somethings didn't and other unforeseen problems. These are TOP quality kits made with the best materials - Chris is one of the best body guys on the West coast with a huge portfolio of cars and trucks under his belt - a lot of time has been put into this kit to get our cars attention - CUZ ARE CARS GET NO ATTENTION!
For anybody reading this who is in on the GB - posts by Hella, Crofty or myself are the only legitimate ones in regards to the kit.

guys i want to thank you for your patience. The back bumper is in fact being finished up and I just sent Chris the new sideskirts that we're going with. These will take 3 days to create the mold for after they get there. Trust that as soon as everything is finished, pictures will be up and payments will be accepted. i know i've stuck my neck out there a few times about the release date so i don't want to do that again but it's a good bet kits will begin shipping by the last few days of march if everything looks right and i believe that it will.
the front end and hood looks so insane and better than the original pictures that i cannot wait much longer for this. the main concern is just making the back bumper look as tight as possible. and you guys are going to flip when you see how the sideskirts look

Doug off the top of my head I believe the widebody option will add another $300 to the $650 price. Do not quote me on that though just yet. You will have the option of having the fenders either bolted on or molded, of course molding will provide a better look.

this GB has already been finalized. They're supposed to sell the kits after the GB though.
As stated the bulk buy is over - this originally started last year around August. After the bulk buy is over the kit will go into production at a different price, same with the widebody and hood.
The widebody is currently only open to those who are in the GB, this makes sense since the pieces are designed for this particular kit. The hood will not require you to have been part of the original GB to get - but those who are in the GB will more than likely get priority for the first production hoods.
I am down for both the hood and the wide-body kit ... post more info when its ready.

Well, I was just curious, I'm waiting for the pre-98 GB on this now.
the pre98 will probably start in a month or two with the first production parts rolling out soon afterwards. This will go by faster since all the R&D has been done and the only thing that has to be modified is the front bumper for the 4 piece kit.

Yes we will be developing a fully functional hood for the pre98s. I'm working on a slightly different apperance for the pre98s so it would be different from the post98s. It will still be functional.
And can someone send me a picture of the Zetec engine bay. And please tell me how much clearance you have from the top of the hood to your engine. Thanks.

The hood is independent of the widebody or body kit since it's a piece that stands on its own.
The widebody is designed for our kit but probably with enough modification can me made to work on a SVT bumper. Anything is possible with bondo and fiberglass
Currently the widebody is only being offered as an upgrade to those people who where in the initial group buy.
We are looking into an equal amount of aftermarket for the pre98 Contour guys aswell. Naturally everything for the pre98 will come out faster since all the R&D has been done to develop this kit and we already have a pre98 goin into the shop when the SVT is out (we've scrapped a lot of designs to get where we are + the widebody and hood added time but well worth it to grow aftermarket support for our cars!)
Thats sounds very cool. I am going to purchase the pre-98 body kit along with the hood. Have you given any thought as to placing the hood scoop on drivers side. I know most of us have a KKM, K&N, etc. It would be nice to have the air directly over the open filter.

i think with zetecs, you can make it be true ram air. just get a filter that will fit right at scoop, re wire the MAF and IAT so they can reach to right above the TB, and it would be awesome. that may be too much work for ya'll to do though.

is there going to be an option for side skirts, these skirts would look nice on a widebody kit but i'd prefer the first skirts that were shown at the beginning of this thread over these. anyways there still a lot of time before the pre98 GB gets going.
There is no option on the side skirts. These side skirts flow well with the tire side end of the front and rear bumpers. I'll have to post a video so you can get an idea of how it will flow
I've gotten some questions on what suspension i'm running. I have the BAT suspension on 18" wheels 225/40 tires (the KDW-2!)
The exhaust is the Brullen.
The car sits low on the stock SVT E1s - drove the car around on the 16's when I went on Tuesday. The kit is lower than the SVT front and higher than the Mirko. I did have to use different riding techniques - going at bumps at angles and stuff. But that's expected when you do something like this. I did some crazy ass hills too! Every store in that town is on a hill. I did scrap my first time cuz I forgot it was low and I went straight at it - OUCH. lol.

I think there is the intitial Group Buy and then the kits will be on sale at a slightly higher rate from that point on. So start saving the pennies.
Hella all I can say is, WOW!!! I was concerned about the whole sideskirt deal after seeing the original pics but I think you folks made a very good decision with the design. At least it's nothing like the stock side skirts which will give a truly whole new look all in it's own.

Hey Micah - thanks for info! I'm handling the hood and widebody. We are suggesting a 25mm spacer if you really want the widebody look with the wheels flush. I will be posting pix of the widebody with the 18s end of this week. When we had the widebody on there we only had the stock 16s and it didn't look that bad - the 18s with widebody look even better of course and with the spacers it would be over!
PM me the link - I need to know if the longer studs will still allow me to put the ADR center cap on since the stock studs from the E1s won't let me.
I doubt they'll know but I pm'd you there website! Since I have SSR GT1's and have no center cap covering the lugs I wasn't concerned about that so you'll needd to call them and find out.
the spacers should give a 2" wider track which is pretty substantial IMO, and a benefit in my book!!

niceboi, your patience is to be commended. I know I would not have been able to part with my car for that long. While it is understandable that many are anxious to get the final product, I am sure that under thier anxiety is a true desire to make sure this product is right the first time.
Frankly, I wish i had made it on the GB, but it looks like i may have to bust out the $$$ at a later date to have my Contour look as good as yours is going to look.

AutoExeBat...dude. You need to chill a bit brau. This kit has been what, a year or more in the making? People have been bustin there butts to make this kit the highest quality possible, and made some super sacrifices (no SVT for 6 months???) for it. I'm normally really easy on newbies, but man, comin in here with less than 10 posts and then bashin on the guys who are making this possible is just not cool. Sit down, be patient and the kit will be done shortly, when it's been made as good as it can be made. Bitchin on here doesn't get it done any faster and doesn't do anyone any good.
Girliegirl- my advice would be to maybe PM Hydro or Nyce and see if either of them can give you a better idea of when deposits may be taken. I would say within the next few weeks myself, but thats total guess as I have no knowledge of the details on production

Hello first or second post. body kit thats awesome when it comes I'll get it for sure. Dont need to know when however if in next three months kewl if not in nine months i would have to get because i get to go play in the big old sandbox that bin laden use to play in for 6 months ill be there yea if this should be somewhere else forgive me ive had my 98 since 2000 and only been able to drive it for about 4 months some im really trying to get it together before i leave

those were just of an inprogress bumper. We will have both rears hopefully sometime in the coming week. Things have been hectic on both our parts... I can't seem to make time to get out there and he's just one of two people in one shop working on 5 or so cars at a time. He's doing the best he can, i've been there a lot and I see Chris more of a friend now than just the bodykit guy. Trust me, he does bust his ass for this car and shows a lot of enthusiasm in creating an abundant aftermarket for the cdw27. We've been working together on making new parts too - these cars won't be seen as grandma rental cars any more

Didn't the lego company used to build life sized lego cars for displays or atleast have contests to have people build them? I don't think any of them actually had engines though.

I actually live by Legoland and I think I remember hearing that they have a really cool lego car on display. Don't know for sure though....it's more expensive than Disneyland.

Guys my image uploader are out of commission. As per the kits the four peice kit is done and ready to ship. The new rear is going into mold this week. Just got back fom a trip. Sorry. Ok, I just checked and I sent a deposit 5/23/02 yes, that is correct 2002! Can I atleast get a total with shipping quote sent to me and where to send it. Yes there WILL BE (future) two different bumbers to choose from. WHEN (future) we post up pictures, you will get to decide THEN and your order WILL BE (future) processed after full payment with shipping.
We are not shipping out any kits right now - I want you guys to understand that yes you will see pix on my car before you actually pay in full or your kit is shipped.

My point is you have received some peoples shipping info and we would like to pay you for your work, but we cant! Why? No information, no shipping quote, you ask for something, we deliver it, and get nothing in return. I have no problem waiting longer for the kit to be released. I am not really ready for it yet. Its just that we are getting nothing done in the mean time, cant we atleast pay the man for the work he's done? Once kits are finally ready all you have to do is send them.
I guess my gripe is, you asked for info and nothing has been done with it. Then in a week or two, it will be, hey guys resend me your info and thats how things get mixed up....

Once we get a fixed shipping schedule I can get you guys the best deals on shipping - kits will go out on a first paid first out basis regardless of when your deposit was in - I can't wait and hold up people who are ready with the money. If full payments are recieved within the next two weeks by everybody I will not change the order - after that anybody who did not pay will get bumped to the back until they pay.

i think this argument shows how this post is going round and round...nyce basically stated that no money is to be sent til the kits are ready to ship...some of u jumped the gun, so be it...
now if they were to instruct u to send your money now and u'll get the kit when it ships, then the 'where's the pics?' and 'how can we buy something we cant see?' quesions will still be raised

Yeah I don't have an updated list yet of whose paid deposits or not. When I get the final list from Terry - you'll just have to match it for me to accept payment and your spot will be secured as long as you pay before we annouce the production date of the first kit..which is just around the corner.
