Contour Enthusiasts Group Archives
For the GP I would like 5 orders of the "Stock" gauge faces that we have started making. With 5 orders you will receive a %10 discount. Base Price of gauges start at $60 + shipping, with a 10% discount it brings your TTL to $54 + shipping. You will be able to purchase them through my website www.sh-autotrends.com as soon as I can get it setup, but for now a list of names here will be good.

This for the 4Cyl and V-6 models for now, The SVT models may be able to jump in on this, we are trying to lay out that speedo now.

Options are:

Black Or White Face
SVT Logo(lit and unlit) or No Logo

Night Colors:
Blue
Red
Green
White
Yellow

Not included is that Ford Focus Needles in the Picture

Tyler

These look fantastic!

I'm curious, they dont seem to be overlays, or are they? What is the installation procedure?

btw, I'm very interested. I'm awaiting the 160mph Speedo version, and when thats available you can count me in for a set of stock-style white face SVT lit, Blue backlighting.
Ask and ye shall receive

This would be during the day with headlights on

Night

"Stock" SVT 160 MPH is now ready to order.

Tyler
OMG that looks amazing!!!!! I can't wait to order mine.

That is the silver face right?

No that is White Face. I cannot do silver, grey I can but not silver. Im working with the 256 color scale.

Tyler
what color is that?!?

WHERE DO I ORDER!

How hard would the install be on this? Can we pick our own colors of backing/lighting?

If so ill probably be in if you can make me a set of Km/H Guages

The night color in that shot is Blue (I know its a bad shot, me and the camera do not get along)

I have them on special now on my website www.sh-autotrends.com or go directly to the specials page. http://www.sh-autotrends.com/specials.php?osCsid=e36b39f1c73dfbe9b0561c0eee51214b

I would however wait until interest for 5 Gauges is shown here before ordering. Then you can all purchase at the same time. Please remember this is a GP in order to receive the 10% 5 orders must be placed.

I do not as of yet have Install instruction on the contour, however if you are asking how hard are the gauges to replace once you have the cluster out? That is the easiest part of this install Getting the cluster out is another story for some cars, but like I said I do not have complete install instructions for this car. But I will include the Taurus/Tbird instructions which should be very close if not the same.

Doing the gauges in KMH would not be a problem.

As far as the options on this GP they are as follows:

This for the 4Cyl and V-6 models for now, and now the SVT

Options are:

Black Or White Face
SVT Logo(lit and unlit) or No Logo

Night Colors:
Blue
Red
Green
White
Yellow

As of now there are 2 ppl on the list,

1) Goonz SVT - 98 SVT - BLUE with "SVT" lit and white face
2) CSVT1214 - 98 SVT - RED with "SVT" lit and white face

When adding yourself to the list please note which engine, and what year. I assume Goonz SVT and CSVT1214 Are both wanting the 160MPH gauges? Also if you do not currently have a 160 MPH cluster, changing gauge faces from the 130MPH to 160MPH Face will result in nothing other than your speedometer being way off, which im sure you already knew.

Thanks,
Tyler

The link is not showing the gauges in the picture. It is still showing the 130 mph, non-SVT gauges.

Again.......overlays, replacement, or what? What is the install procedure???

Any thoughts for HVAC and headlight switch?

Yeah, I'd love to get a HVAC too. It's going to look strange having my entire interior lighting up red now, and then a glowing blue HVAC.
Im def. in regardless of the HVAC..

3 more people!! come on!

Sorry I missed your question. They are replacement. If you view the other thread I have linked in here I explain more in detail, but you will have to remove your OLD faces to install mine. Also I noted above, that I do not yet have install instructions for this model car as of yet.

The HVAC we tried once and it didnt turn out all that well, I assume it would be the same for the headlight switch, I can look into it agian, but cant promise anything on them. So as it stands right now on the HVAC, no. Sorry

Somebody correct me if i'm wrong, but i believe there is a film on the back of the gauges so that if you want a different color, you would have to remove the film. This is why it's so great of Tyler to offer his services to the contour community. Thanks for helping us Tyler and good luck with the group buy.

Yes you are correct, the stockers use a film, where as I use a gel almost the same. Bright White LED Bulbs would be the best bet. IMO something like this would be best http://autolumination.com/194.htm the first bulb, although you can find them cheaper if you look around, I have a few sources, let me know.

However Blue leds would also work, im just not 100% sure you will get the same results. Doesnt hurt to try though

Does this mean you're using 194 bulbs for illumination? If so, wouldn't the blue LED 194 bulbs from superbrightleds work if we want more "blueness"? Or would we just use the white ones for more color?

AND, before I start tearing into stuff, how about the how-to you said you would post?

The colors is controlled by the gel, not the bulbs. However it is worth a shot. I will get the how to up today.

So how long are you going to be making these guages?

Long long long time, this is just a GP, they will be available on my website for many moons to come.

Tyler
so when you shipping them out
hopefully i can get them while my car is still in my garage.
Very interested. In the pics of the SVT gauges, the needles look very, VERY red. This is awesome; my needles are a dim green. Are these different needles? Do they come with the kit? If not, where can I get them?

I'll shortly be ordering a set of the '98 SVT Blue glow gauges.

Most of them should ship late this week;)

The needles are from a ford focus, no the are not included in this package. However I am going to post a how to on how to change your needle color. I was going to get to it today, got busy, and now its "new years time" sooooooo, well you know what that means

Ill get that how to up tomorrow, promise!

GAUGE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

This is just a guideline for replacement of the gauge faces on MN12 Thunderbirds and Cougars (more specifically 1994-1996 models). Don't hold me responsible for anything that may go wrong while following these instructions. These instructions are for entertainment usage only. If you learn something from it, congratulations.

1.Put some refreshing drinks in the fridge.
2. Start up your car and let it get up to operating temperature.
3. While it's warming up, the panel under the steering column needs to be removed. Using a 8mm socket and wrench, remove the 3 bolts at the bottom of the panel. Now grab the panel at the top and give a strong pull straight back. I usually grab the panel at the slot at the top of the panel at the steering column. It should pop out of place; it has a bunch of those spring clips.
4. This exposes three bolts for the black part of the dash. Using a 7mm socket and wrench, remove the 3 bolts at the bottom of the black part of the dash. There are two other bolts above the speedometer and tach that run straight up. There should be 5 bolts altogether.

5. You might want to shut off the car by now, if you haven't already.
6. Tilt the steering wheel to its lowest position. Grab the black piece of the dash and give it a tug straight back. It should pop loose and move towards you. If you're lucky, you'll only loose 1 of those spring clips. Now the tough part. You can either squeeze the top down in order to get it to come out, or you can disassemble the plastic shroud around the steering column by removing three screws from underneath. Pull the black piece out and disconnect the wires running to the rear window defroster switch.
7. You will now see the gauge package. You can remove the clear cover by using a 5.5mm socket, extensions and socket wrench. There should be 7 screws holding the clear plastic cover on. Don't lose the screws.
8. Note the positions of all of the needles. You can use some masking tape on the black bezel to mark their location.
9. To remove the gauge package from the car, remove the 4 screws (using a 7mm socket) that hold the gauge cluster to the dash. There is one in each corner.
10. Now that the cluster is loose, pull it out slightly and reach behind to disconnect the wire harnesses. There is one on each side (both have gray plugs) and they come apart by squeezing both clips and pulling. Thin, flexible hands are good at this time.
11. Now pull out the cluster out of the car (careful, the black bezel can come loose) and hold it above your head and say "Woohoo". Now set the cluster down wherever you're going to work on it and go get a refreshing drink, because I know you deserve it.
12. Now that you're refreshed, hopefully not too refreshed, it's time to start the disassembly of the cluster.
13. Remove the black bezel from the cluster. Please note that these gauges are Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) sensitive, much like computer hardware. Please take precautions to eliminate the chance of ESD damage. A precaution can be (but not limited to) using a grounding strap. Now gently pull the speedometer and tachometer from the cluster. They pull right out. Next pull out the 3 other gauge assemblies. Try to keep them in order, just to limit confusion.
14. To remove the needles, I used a regular fork. Just slide the tines of the fork on each side of the pivot point of the needle and carefully work the needle up and off the gauge. Let's start with the temp gauge. When removing the needle, try not to rotate it in anyway, this may help with needle realignment. Pop the needle off and set it down. The factory gauge face is glued to the clear plastic framework. Just peel the face off the frame. Don't clean off the glue, because it will be used to stick on the new faces. Grab the new temperature gauge face and stick it to the clear framework, aligning the holes. The faces should stick quite well. If they don't, I suggest 3M Super 77 spray adhesive, that's just what I use.
15. This step is optional, but I feel it is necessary. Flip the needles over and carefully scrape the white paint off the back of the needles. Use a sharp utility knife and scrape away. Now, I went to Wal-Mart and picked up a small bottle of Testors fluorescent orange model paint. I laid down several thin coats of orange until I got the desired look from the front. This way, the needles will be orange against white during the day and glowing orange against black at night. Also, paint the white on top of the black portion of the needle, to match the needles. You can choose whatever color you want, just remember not to dark.
16. Now, if you're feeling lucky, you can press the needle back on and take your chances with the alignment. Or you can just lightly press the needle back on so that it's easy to remove if it needs to be realigned.

17. The other gauges (Volt, Fuel and Oil Pressure) are exactly the same as the Temperature gauge. Due to variances, the Voltage and Fuels gauge faces may have to be cut apart and adhered to the clear framework independently for everything to line up correctly.
18. The speedometer is slightly different. Note the location of the needle when at rest. Notice that if you flick the needle, it returns to the same position. Now fork the needle off and peel the face off. There will be two green plastic items that are used around the odometers that might stick to the face. If they do, pop them back into place in the clear framework. Resist the temptation to alter the mileage of your vehicle at this time. That is a big "No-No". Drop the new gauge face onto the clear framework. The hole around the trip odometer reset pole should be tight. Make sure everything lines up. This is where taking your time with the knife and the straight edge will make a difference. You can press the needle onto the speedometer such that it comes to rest at the same spot it was before. It should come to rest slightly above the trip odometer reset pole.
19. The tachometer is similar to the speedometer. The needle comes to rest at 0 RPM when it has no power, so you can play with it and the needle should return to 0 RPM. Pop off the needle and using a small (#0) Phillips screwdriver, remove the three screws. Don't lose those. The faces should peel right off now. Stick on the new face and reassemble the tach.
20. Assemble the cluster by installing the smaller gauges first and then the two larger ones.
21. Go back to the car and plug the wiring harnesses back in and start the car. Let the car reach operating temperature and is running the same conditions as when you marked the needle positions (i.e. A/C on or off, stuff like that). Make sure that all the needles move freely and indicate the correct position (remember the masking tape on the bezel, now's the time to align the needles.) Align the needles, press them down pretty firm and replace the bezel and install the clear plastic cover.
22. The rest is simply reassembly of the dashboard, which is the reverse of disassembly.
23. Sit back with another refreshing beverage and bask in your handy work. Go and show all of your family, friends and neighbors.

I have pics that go with this also, but they do not refer to your model. I also have 2 seperate helpful install tricks, on how to add bulbs, and the process i like to call "chroming" the cluster.

Tyler we love you..
Will you ship to APO (via USPS)? Any additional S/H charges for it?

Ya... technically it's a US address.

I just went to the USPS site and did the calculator:
  • A 2lb item shipped Priority will cost just under $6 from 59405 (my old base) to 09009 (here).

The reason is because everyone that ordered, either has an SVT or has a Contour with an SVT gauge cluster, therefore needing the 160 mph.

I just wanted to make sure that people knew that I also had the 130MPH, since only the 160MPH have been ordered.
I wouldn't be suprised to see the 130mph folks come out of the woodwork sooner or later. I know if it wasn't for the recent developments we've had getting the SVT cluster in my 96 that I would've been ordering a 130mph set instead....

    I just thought about something!

Looking at the Mondeo guages here, make sure the trip reset button hole is in the correct position!

That particular Mondeo is a 93, so hopefully they have the same cable/electronic speedo changes we had.

    lol same here

Since I didnt include any type of Instructions or helpful hints in anyones packages. I wanted to make sure you all still got the info.

    Heres the Low Down.

For added brightness, please do this

    Quote:

    MORE HELPFUL INSTALLATION TIPS:

If you really want the most brightness out of your gauges, go buy some chrome spray paint, and do what we call the ââ?¬Å?chroming processââ?¬Â, it really makes a difference. Now from trial and error I have discovered the better the price on the can the better the quality, and try and only spray once, making sure to mask off any electrical components, along with metal.

    And after with tape removed

Also If you look close to the first pic, you will see added bulbs. The wires with the bulb on the end. That is to equal out brightness, add brightness. I'll add that little how to tomorrow

    Tyler
    hmmm..intersting
That "Chroming" process was recommended on my Toyota also.

And if you're curious about APO/FPO shipping, read this.

I didn't know you have to hand deliver mail like that. No wonder why Newegg charges like $30 for it.
To the CEG people, how hard is the removal of the exsisting gauges? Would I have to remove the dash as well to install these?

Very simple. 4 screws total to remove the dash cover. 1 behind the defrost button, 2 above the cluster, 1 behind the clock/Contour logo.

Once the cover is removed, there is a few screws holding the cluster down. I can't remember how many since it's been a while since I opened on.

The needles will have to be removed in order to install the new gauges. This is where it get's tricky. Proper alignment of the needles is very important.

I can post a few little tips for people if needed.

P.S. Remember the position of all 4 needles at time of removal.

You the man, that response was fooking fast.
There is 10 total. 5 to start with, not 4, to remove the bezel. One behind the defroster switch on the right side, 2 above the lexan on the cluster, and 2 behind the contour logo under the center vents. Once those are off, then there is 5 screws holding the cluster in, 3 on the bottom and 2 on top. Then you have to pop the 2 multiplugs out, and then pry the black tabs with a flathead screwdriver to remove the lexan covering. After that, if you want to remove the gauges, there is various torx bolts holding them in. Lots of screws to remove!
Just a note, not only will "chrome" give better reflection of light, so would white paint.
The dash and gauge cluster removal is probably one of the easiest things to do on a contour. It will take you maybe 5-10 minutes to get it out.

I'm interested, this is the only part that I'm nervous about
so how far off will my mph be since im switching from a se 130mph to a svt 160mph cluster
and how can i fix it so mph is right?
    thanks

    yupp same here
Me to... i removed my needles once, and there almost perfect... the speedo is near perfect if not already, and the tach is only off by a bit...

but doing it the second time, and leaving them off, makes me nervous now too..
The best thing to do when you are going to remove the needles... drive around till the car gets warm. Then, stop, with the engine running and in park, and write down the exact positon of the tach, temp, and fuel. I made little diagrams of the gauges so I wouldn't forget. Remember to put everything back on again when the car is warm, running, and ideling. For the speedometer... don't drive slowly in a parking lot and try to guess. It doesn't work. The best thing to do is pulg in the gauge cluter w/o the lexan cover, and have one of your friends drive ahead of you. Talk to him on your cell phone or a radio, and have him get up to 60mph, and set his cruise control. Then match his speed and set your cruise control. After you are all set, stick the needle on at 60. It make take a few attemps, but once you get it, the car will be perfectly accurate. Good luck.

Maybe, but think about your headlights Your factory color now should be white.

I think that these gauges are like the TBird gauges, in that they have a nautral resting spot. As was stated, get the car to operating temp, note the gauges spots, take a pic, whatever works for you. The speedo should be fine once you place it back on at 0, but I am not 100% sure because I do not have a cluster or car to test out.

    Tyler
For the needles don't fret guys.. it isnt too hard at all to re-align them.

FUEL- Digi cam and place back
TEMP- if your car's properly working after the usual warm up place is smack dab verticle
RPM- spring loaded against the rest pin. Remove it and digi cam its possition where it naturaly lies. Then go drive around with the plastic shield off and adjust it depending on the idle. The simplest adjust was to easily redline it and make sure it matches.
SPEED: spring loaded against the rest pin. Remove it and digi cam its possition where it naturaly lies. Determine it's speed at the redline cut off then make sure u match that with it's new placement. Tends to be easier doing a 0-60 run since we are infamous for just missing 60. Just a few easy checks. Then some pacing with another car while on a cell call with that person can do wonders.

I have taken off the needles and am 100% sure they are perfectly accurate. A few tests I did to verify later on was with my xcal 2 was to set the idle to something odd and see how accurately the needles displayed it. And then raised the redline and made sure I reached 60 in second. All the speeding warning signs have my speed dead on as well.
Yeah, it's not so bad to re-install them. Just have to be creative when aligning them.

I have tested my tach and speedo with a CarChip EX and it's pefect.
so just to refresh since im having a bum night... what comes in this kit? and what do we have to replace with our gauges?
will the stock dimming work with these gauges?
Tyler... another note as well. When putting the adhesive on, you need to make sure that none of it goes where any light transmitence will be, or you will get blotchy spots. Therefore, I reccomend something heavier, not a spray can. I used 3M emblem adhesive... it is heavy, doesn't run, and is easy to direct. If you want me to type a full how-to, using your info (w/ the t-bird stuff replaced by contour stuff), let me know or shoot me a PM, I'd be glad to help out.

MattR ill be in touch if I need some help.

    Ordered a "cluster" from where?

If you are talking about the gauges from this group buy, then that was not smart at all. The speedometer is going to be useless to you.

got my gauges today... gonna start installation tonite.

    - Tyler, in the directions u provided it says you can buy a brighter bulb for the cluster... are these bulbs that will directly replace the 194's without any mods? and how much brighter are they really...

if not, ill just use the stock bulbs.

also, does the "chroming" process really make a BIG difference?

Well, I don't really count since mail really is "snail mail" here, but I haven't recieved yet...

Maybe in about 2 months (when the post office will first start a claim), I can decide if it didn't get here! heh.

And yes, I'd totally buy an HVAC panel...
I received mine last week. I'm waiting for my xcal2 to get here so I can reset my needles perfectly.... once I get them installed I'll take some pics

    OK

If someone has an extra HVAC panel and does not mind sending it to me, I will try it.

I CAN NOT GUARANTEE THAT I WILL BE ABLE TO MAKE THEM

I will give the person who sends a free face for the HVAC IF i can make them.

Also If the same person also has a 160MPH SVT cluster I am on the lookout for one of those also, a FREE set of guages is what you will receive in return.

Negative... but I did get an email saying they were shipped.

But no worries here, APO packages take a while longer.
I'm in for HVAC and 130 mph speedo in black with blue lights. I did my switches and clock, so now my HVAC and guages are the only green left. Not that I have a pimp boulevard cruiser, but I hate it looking half-assed. Any chance of another discount on speedo overlays when (if) the HVAC comes out?

I'm also interested in guages. Can we get another list of interested people? I have some concerns, though. From the pictures on your site I see these options:

I want the first one black face with blue gel, but without the SVT logo, and with a 6750 redline. The spedo is fine. That would be an exact replica of a V-6 non-SVT face, but with a color change. Can you do that? And will there be blue gel in what is now green (mph, revs, temp/fuel), and red in what is currently red (km/h, redline, fuel low, temp high)? Isn't the needle color controled by a gel film too? Can you make them blue?

Hard to say this early into it. I havnt received the panles yet, although I am told they are on there way.

As soon as i get them and a little design going, I will have a better idea as to what I can and cannot do, if I can do anything at all.

Needle color is on you. Youll have to scrape the old paint off and repaint the needles. Im not 100% sure what you want on gauges. Send me a PM please.

    Tyler
i was looking and i think the ring of fire looks hot as hell. too bad i dint get that but once mine are installed ill post pics of them.
i want white ones with the standard green illumination. only nice ones i've been able to find had a problem with my credit card that led to them not shipping it so i cancelled my order. really want some sportier white not cheesy gauges.

I got one of those too but I don't have it with me at my apartment I got a spare one when I put the cheapo overlay on that I have
Well I installed my gauges last night.

I didn't exactly enjoy installing them. My indiglos didn't require my small needles to be removed so those were still in there original position. Removing the temp. needle, the black cap on the needle broke off. After like an hour of pulling at the needle, it finally came off the pin. Gas gauge needle did the same thing with the black cap. Both have been reinstalled and are not going to move anywhere, but if anyone was to pull on the needle again the cap would come right off. Not a big deal at this point though since it is all covered up.

I'm removing the gauges again this Sunday to "chrome" the housing.

I'm telling everyone now, these are not bright enough without modifying. Chrome the cluster and maybe upgrade the bulbs.

I will post before and after pictures hopefully Sunday night.

In the end, these turned out great after it was finished.

I dont know, maybe it's just me, but I would think the product should look good right from the start and not needed to be chromed to look good. I guess I can re-evaluate after the pics but from what I read here I think I might be staying w/ my Indiglos
The needles should come off fine w/o breaking by using 2 spoons.

Sorry for not posting the pics. I have the original completed pictures already, but I'm waiting till I chrome the cluster so everyone can see the comparison.

I was sick all this weekend and had the snow storm, so I didn't get much done this weekend.
I saw Tony's gauges, looked sick
Ok, so I chromed my gauge cluster yesterday. Results were great and easy to do.

I had a problem with 2 bulbs burning out on me so I need to replace them. Right now I'm just using my Traction Control and Seatbelt bulb in place of the gauge bulbs.

I wanted to order replacement LED bulbs from superbrightleds.com but I don't know which ones to get.

Which ones should I get to replace the stock bulbs and make it a little brighter?

    194 wedge bulbs

I searched around on here, found that the original incandescent bulbs are 194s.

I would assume a 194 LED setup will work...

I have ordered a few different LEDs (194 and some others) I plan on putting in the guages... I'm trying to go for even light distribution, so I'll let y'all know when I finally get em.
Originally posted by Big Daddy Kane:

Yeah, that was my biggest concern.

I don't want bright spots. Some of the LEDs listed say the light is spread out and others say it's straight out. But then some don't say anything at all.
You can color the tips of the bulbs with a black marker make them not act like flashlights

I have orderd all the bulbs required for this.

WLED 5-LED Wide Angle LED bulb
12 VDC 5-LED Wedge Base bulb (194/168 type)
Super Wide Viewing Angle bulb uses 4 radially mounted LEDs aiming out the sides and one High Flux LED on top
    Non Polarized
    $ 2.79

Those are the bulbs you want.

You guys are getting ahead of me!!!!

Give me about 2 days I'll have pics of the led cluster bulbs and the HVAC(hopefully).

    Tyler
are these leds plug and play? Meaning can you just pull out the stock bulbs and put in the LEDS?

I took some but they are almost useless. I didn't realize my camera doesn't take night pics at all.

Unfortunately when I do get pics using someone elses camera, it will only be complete pics, not before chroming and after.
I bought 2 of these LEDs for my testing:

360° viewing angle, phospher coated LED.

Look at the real bright white/red LEDs in the middle of this page.

Now these are still in an early stage, but you get the basic idea. Want to hear some thoughts, good or bad.

    Tyler
    Ur such a tease!

    I WANT TO PAY NOW!!
alright,i wasnt gonna get involved in a set of gauges, but now you've caught my attention...how much for a complete set(main/hvac) and are you doing the headlight control as well??
    omg, those look awesome!

I see the blue one is a bit different than the red one though, the FLR/DEF are a little different, and the DEF doesn't have the little logo on the blue one. I'd like the red one, but in blue like the blue one So if you can do that, you've got a sale.

If we can get a decent price on both HVAC and Guages, I'm in. You don't need the headlight switch: that's a very easy one to do yourself. There's no colored film. If you want I can dig up my how-to.

    Yes please

This is the only picture I could find - I have no idea what happened to my how-to. Maybe I never actually wrote one. I'll take it apart and write one when I finish my HVAC. Basically, I used epoxy to glue LEDs to each hole in the switch cover. There are three spots where the plastic has a hole for light to shine through. If there was a green film, it scraped off easily. To get the light to look better, I cut off the tip of each LED with a dremel - a file or hacksaw would work just as well. This leaves a flat, rough surface that diffuses the light evenly. It also provides a nice surface for the LED to glue to the switch cover. If anyone wants to dive in and try it before I get my how-to up (it'll be a while) I'll be glad to answer questions you have along the way, in case I forgot something - PM me with any concerns.

Ok, pricing I have not worked out yet. I am going to give all the guys that were in the first GP a discount on the HVAC panels. I will also be doing a "package deal" with the Gauges and HVAC. I want to do some more work to them first before I sell them though. Within the next 5-7 days I hope to have them ready for sale. As far as the headlight switch goes, yes I planned on doing them unless everyone is just going to do the mod posted above. I have the scan from a headlight switch, but would really like to actually have one, that way I can make sure it lights properly and fits right.

    Thanks,
    Tyler

Yes I know what you mean, I am just prototyping now.

    Tyler
While the headlight switch mod does get you blue lights cheaply and easily, if you want to go with white HVAC/guages/headlight switch faces, you'll have to buy them. That group may or may not be enough to get a GB, but I'd imagine it will be with the requests for white HVAC panels/HL switches we've seen over the years.

I dunno if you can or not (or if anyone else will like it!), but I was thinking if you could replace all the words with the little symbols found on pretty much every other newer car.
I think most of this group is interested in a stock look-a-like replacement, the only exception being either white or black background and different colored lighting. At least I am anyway....
I'll take either color panel but I prefer white.

    Red lighting also.
Heres a better shot of blue, still not what I want. Ill get more pics tomorrow, with the lighting on the knobs fixed.

Ohh and by the way, yes it really is 12:57AM, and yes I should be in bed, and yes I am crazy for being up this late working

    Tyler
That's really hot. I'm looking forward to the finished product.
Those look good, I am in when they are ready. Are you going to make white face ones as well?
i'm gonna take a full set when everything is ready

    Yes

Everything should be done and perfected by wednesday hopefully. Then I can start selling them.

    Tyler
I will also take a full set when they are up. I am just not sure as to which color scheme to go with!?!

    So hot.

    Thanks for the hard work!
can you get the gauges/hvac with white lights instead of red, blue or yellow

I have the gauges with "blue" lighting, and it's actually more like white with a hint of blue.

Yes but one thing to keep in mind is it will only light as white as the bulb behind it. Meaning if you use white led,s youd be fine. But if you use 194 bulbs which burn kinda orange, well then youd see that kinda orange color, get what I am saying?

    Tyler
OK I am ready to sell them.

The only thing that will change from the HVAC you see here is I will be making the blue on the temp a lighter shade of blue, not alot lighter but just a bit.

Heres some new pics. It was rather hard getting good night shots, but I did the best I could.

    Yellow Lighting

Red Lighting, which looks much better in person.

Blue Lighting(Ill get the new pics with the knobs lit tonight)

    Black Face

And I will also get the White Face Day shot up tonight.

I do not have the headlight switch done yet, as I have yet to recieve one. I have a scan of one, but really need one here with me so I can test it.

    Pricing will be as follows.

    HVAC~$25
    Headlight~$10

Gauges + HVAC + Headlight Switch(which you will receive once they become available) $85+ shipping

    Gauges + HVAC $80+ shipping

HVAC+ Headlight Switch $30 + shipping This will normally be $35 But for you guys Ill give a combo discount.

Now for the guys that were in the first GP and want these. Please post in a new GP so that everyone can get some sort of discount on the HVAC/Headlight switch deal.

Now I am not sure who wants to set up what GP.

    I will say this.

No matter what the GP 1-5 ppl get 5% discount, 5-10 ppl get a 10% discount, 10-15ppl 15% discount, and 15+ ppl will get a 20% discount on any given GP with more than 15 ppl.

So if we get 5 people for each category (20 total) do we all get 5% or 20% off?

    I'm in for:

Guages and HVAC. Black face, blue lighting.

For my guages I'd ideally want them to look just like this:

Except with no SVT logo, and a 6750 redline instead of 6500.
so these are gonna be available?when?

Nice work Tyler! I know a lot of CEG'ers really appreciate this. In my opinion its a releif to have a vender that makes all three of these faces for us and has put in the time to listen to what we want.

Already bought gauge set, but wants to add HVAC and Headlight Switch deal:

Well I was going to try and keep all the combos seperate, to keep the confusion down to a minimal. However, do you guys think it should just be one big long list?

How would you want this GP set up is what I am asking.

    Thanks,
    Tyler

I think the best way and least confusion would be........

Copy the first post saying "I'm ready to sell them", to a new thread, and keep each of the combos seperate like you said.

Anyone browsing GB section still sees an old thread talking about the gauges and may never see the HVAC and HL panels because of the name. Just my .02

    exactly.
I have a general question about all the products...

It's best seen between these pictures:

Ok, the lighting on these. The yellow ones on top are exactly like the stock guages... which is, the light shines thru the letters/graphics.

On the red one, the letters/graphics are opaque and the light shines around them. My blue guages are like this.

I'm just curious if it has to do with the color, or if it's something else... the first setup (light shines thru the letters/graphics) looks the best IMO.

Oh, and I got my extremely bright 6-LED white #194 lamps from superbrightleds.com. Also getting more of the 360° white LEDs and build a little 12v circuit for em. (and not to forget, the 12" RGB strip with the controller... should be pretty cool for the trunk or footwell)
Exactly what I noticed about the gauge faces for the clusters as well. I prefer the way the yellow one looks.

Yes, that is the difference between white face and black face. In a nutshell, it has to do with layering. It has to be the way it is.;)

I think what he was talking about was the yellow vs red as far as the outlining of th letters go. So does the black/white face affect how the letters light up or does the actual film color?

    That's an acceptable answer!

So I'm guessing at the moment, you can't make the back text have light shine thru it? If you figure out how in the future, I'll probly get a new set...
