A Few of you will remember that for my casting class I was working on the prototype for a 2 guage autometer 2 1/16" guages to sit in the radio DIN sized opening in any dash. Well The prototype is dont and works perfectly in my MSP. I finished the casting class but had little success with the casting process, some of the walls were just too thin. so now that I am in a plastics class I am thermo forming them out of ABS plastic. I have done 2 so far and the 1st did not turn out well. The second is in my MSP as we speak. The good thing about the ABS is that one side is textured and the other smooth. I can make either side be out. The purpose of this post is to gather interest in purchasing this piece for under $50 shipped.

A gracious CEG member (Kokopellian) will be prototyping the smooth ABS in his MSP as soon as I can get it to him. Ill post up pics of the grained one in the MSP when I get some time in the next few days. Swazo will most likely have a smooth on in a pre98 consol soon as well.

Start a list and include a pm to me about your shipping address and tell me grained or smooth.

Here is a pic or two from my MSP with the original Billit piece painted black.

But ina tour won't you have to have it not only angled a litte to the drive but up as well if this is to replace where the HU sits.

I'm in terested....
Posted By: EternalOne Re: DIN Gauge Pod - 03/15/05 04:59 PM
From the pics it looks like its a double-DIN, could you clarify this, perhaps with measurements? I'm interested, but only if it'll fit, even tho I guess I could trim it if I needed to.

Ah, much better pics man! (Yeah, in that pic I can tell its DIN, the others looked double to me for some reason...)

Ok, so I'm down for one smooth one.

Ok - material has been ordered. Pricing will be $30 shipped (unless its way unreasonable to ship in which case $25 plus actual shipping charges)

Anyone else want in? - after the initial run there will be a modest price increase (if im able to even make more after the 1st time)
Posted By: KingpinSVT Re: DIN Gauge Pod - 03/18/05 09:18 PM
hmm, for $30 maybe. let me think about it. . . . .
Posted By: really BIG fuzzy Re: DIN Gauge Pod - 03/19/05 07:17 AM
question:
what would b needed 2 retrofit this in2 a post 98 dash?
Posted By: Horse_dup1 Re: DIN Gauge Pod - 03/19/05 08:05 PM
I dont know man - its a universal fit untrimmed but molded to a DIN sized opening. If you wanted to get crazy you could prob mount it on your hood if you wanted to. . .

That is going to be up to you.
Posted By: KingpinSVT Re: DIN Gauge Pod - 03/19/05 09:45 PM
ok, i think im going to pass for now. will you be able to make these in the future?
Posted By: Horse_dup1 Re: DIN Gauge Pod - 03/19/05 10:07 PM
honestly - not at this price since I did all the R&D and I am doing the actual thermo forming.

If I am able to do it in the future it will be for considerably more money.

Can I still get in on this GB? If so I will take a smooth one.

ok - whatever

PS - dont paypal me with a CC - I cant accept them. cash or bank accound on PP
Posted By: EternalOne Re: DIN Gauge Pod - 03/26/05 03:19 PM
Ok, well I don't do paypal at all. I've made a few purchased thru paypal and my bookkeeper gets pissed at me. As I said in my PM I'll need an address for a Money Order, which will I next day to you. (Money orders are guarenteed funds, and trackable, making purchases safer than paypal.)
