There was alot of interest on the Suggestion Thread on H&R Spring sets. I have several suppliers getting back to me later today and tomorrow on pricing, however I could be most accurate with you if I had a concrete # of people in on this deal. So lets see it. State your interest and how much you expect to pay. As soon as I get some numbers, we'll have these shipped out ASAP. Thanks

H&Rs are on my immediate to do list. if you can get them, shipped to me, for less than i can get them from friend's shop, ill definitely buy. i plan to get Bilsteins too.

with this combo, is a camber kit absolutely necessary? front and rear?

Thanks again for your GB's, I'm very interested. As far as the price is concerned, you'll need to beat SP Motorsports at $219 a set. I'll keep watching.

Tire rack has H&R's for 198.00

Another place I found Howbar Motorsports sells them for 194.35

Howbar also advertises they do group rates.

Good luck on the GB ! These and Bilsteins are on my list, but I won't be able to get them until spring

Thats a good deal! I am putting in my H&R's on sunday sporting Koni's. I hope to have pics sometime next week!
Posted By: unnerv_dup1 Re: H&R Springs Interest Check - 11/11/04 10:44 PM

Here is a pic from a year or two ago when I got the HR/koni combo.

If this goes, I might actually be in for a set, as after the 1st year the springs settled a bit from the amp and sub in the trunk and now if I have two passengers in the rear and hit a bump I rub sometimes. I'll have to see since it is right before xmas. If you guys get to the point where you only need one more or something, I'll probably jump in.

The difference between my current Eibachs and the proposed H&Rs is 0.2 of an inch - I don't think it's gonna be significantly noticeable.

I could've sworn that H&R's were like
1.3"F 1.0"R

Guess I am wrong though...I do remember SOME people keeping Eibach rears and using H&R fronts because the rear sat too high for their taste.

here's my svt with h&r's with konis. h&r book stated at the time we installed these at 1.4 fr/1.2 rear. we measured 1.5 front and 1.0 rear. the trunk carries a 12w6 in a sealed 1.25 cu. ft. 3/4' mdf box and two amps. most of the eibach equipped cars sit lower in the rear, about 1.3....

h&r's have always had a raked stance, while eibachs have had a level stance.

Question!

And Im surprised no one asked about this. How does this lowering kit affects withour Mirko Splitter!? Even with my stock SVT springs I still scrape the bottom from time to time. Lowering my car over an inch increases the chance of damaging my precious Mirko Splitter. Does anyone have this problem with theirs already?

-dan
Posted By: Swazo Re: H&R Springs Interest Check - 11/21/04 11:04 PM
I have a Mirko molded into my front bumper, but am on stock SVT springs. I've talked to people with coilovers and they have a mirko, and it seems like you just have to learn to drive a different way. Take driveways, speed bumps, ect really slow and at 45*+ angles. Maybe even avoid certian areas of the city that aren't lowered vechicle friendly.

atleast this is my plan with the H&R's

BTW.........................................................

I will need some good struts, but won't likely have the cash until after x-mas. Koni or Blistein struts for sure
Could there be a GB starting after the new year?
Posted By: ContourSVT98 Re: H&R Springs Interest Check - 11/21/04 11:36 PM
Yeah but you cant always be prepare for the next unexpected whatever lays ahead. Going at normal speed without knowing its too late. I cant just slam the brakes hard to make 45 degree turn to avoid any damage to my Mirko while the vehicle could probably slam my car behind.

-dan
Posted By: Swazo Re: H&R Springs Interest Check - 11/21/04 11:59 PM

Don't follow the vehicle infront of you too close, so you can avoid road debris or anything that they run over. Watch out for anything hairy that you will have to avoid. If anyone rearends you, they are following too close and are at fault in almost any situation.

Honestly, I don't see any real problems until you see residential areas w/ mega speed bumps or deep gutters. You'll be going slow anyway, so it shouldn't be a huge deal....just a minor PITA.
Posted By: XKontour98 Re: H&R Springs Interest Check - 11/22/04 12:12 AM
I have had my H&R's with Koni's for a week now and I absolutely love them! I actually scrape ess than I did with my original SE suspesion and I have the SVT kit. I had one bad strut in the rear so that could have been the issue. I dobt scrape near as much as I did before when entering/exiting my driveway.

The Koni's take away almost all nose dive when breaking and the rear stays level when your laying on the gas. I took my car through the automatic carwash today and i had no problems! I was worried but it was fine. Speed bumps havent been much of an issue but still take tham at an angle and you should be fine.

My Mirko splitter is off the car most of the time. I've put my stock bumper/lower on several driveways and parking curbs while it was at stock height, and I've smashed up my Mirko a couple of times already while being lowered. If you're having a problem with bottoming your chin spoiler now, you're going to have a bigger problem after you put on any lowering spring kit.

Alright guys here is the way we are going to do this:

Call 1-800-332-7706 and ask for Mike.
You must make a refference to : Contour Group Buy
Specify the year of your Contour.
Pay

The final price is going to be $189.45. The additional $4.45 from the originally posted price is the drop ship fee from H&R. Please post and make a list of all those who have paid. Thanks

Oh, BTW. Shipping to Canada is quite a bit more expensive. You may want to ask Mike for an exact amount. Thanks

ok, after much deliberation and reviewing photos of H&Rs and Eibachs, I have decided I am out. I do not want to put the H&Rs on my car. i did not know that there was a difference in the look between the two. i have never heard of such a thing on a car before (in my experience). that two sets of springs, roughly equivilant in drop, would look differently.

I saw that there were a few people who were too late to get in to the GB and if you would like my spot, PM me. If nobody takes it then i guess Ill buy them and try to re-sell them.
it's too bad too cuz this is such a killer price.
oh well, hopefully they will find a better home with another CEG'er.

Posted By: Swazo Re: H&R Springs Interest Check - 11/27/04 03:35 AM
I got an invoice today noting that the springs are to be drop shipped from another source. I guess they COULD be holding out for all 10 to pay.... but I hope not since only 2 of us have actually paid

I'll be ordering mine on monday.

Anyone know where I can get a good deal on some Konis?

When I ordered mine, I asked Mike to send me an email with the tracking number. He said something to the effect that his ordering process wasn't tied into his email (?) but if I called him on Monday, he'd give me one. I ordered Wednesday. Swazo, you said you got an invoice, how'd you get it?

Snail Mail
Posted By: Swazo Re: H&R Springs Interest Check - 11/29/04 07:45 PM
UPS just dropped off my springs

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the springs for the Contiques all the same from 97+ (duratec and zetec) and what changes the front drop is the weight of the engine? zetec is cast iron and the duratec is aluminum, so the zetec gets a slightly larger drop in the front?
Posted By: R_G Re: H&R Springs Interest Check - 11/30/04 12:35 AM
Hmmm... I always thought Duratec was heavier.
Posted By: Swazo Re: H&R Springs Interest Check - 11/30/04 03:08 PM
Yes it is, I must have been looking at things crosseye'd There is a set for 95/96's and a set for 97+.... no difference between 4 cyl and V6

Got mine today too. And mine will also have to wait until winter is over with. This weather sucks and it hasn't even snowed here-yet.

Got mine today. Thanks Cuervo - one of the smoothest abd fastest GBs ever.

I am gonna put the fronts on soon and gonna post 2 pix - b4 and after (with Eibachs and H&Rs)
Posted By: R_G Re: H&R Springs Interest Check - 12/20/04 01:29 PM
To all the participants:

How many of you are gonna put the H&R in the front only and keep the Eibach in the rear?

I am. I'm happy with the way my rear looks (that doesn't sound right) but I want the front end abit lower. I'll take before and after pix but it's not gonna happen until the snow's gone---unless I'm lucky enough to find a winter beater.
Posted By: R_G Re: H&R Springs Interest Check - 12/20/04 03:31 PM
I am gonna put mine in the 3rd week of January - don't mind the snow - just waiting for the next-next paycheck.

The question is: would the rear H&R provide more of a drop for the rear too?
Posted By: Stazi Re: H&R Springs Interest Check - 12/20/04 03:42 PM
Eibachs are lower than H&R's in the rear.

If you want a car that handle, install the H&R's all 'round. If you want a car that looks low and aren't too fussed about handling, leave the Eibach's in there. Although IMHO the Eibach springs look goofy like yo'e got a fat bi-atch riding in the back seat

"Excuse me have you been drinkin?" "No why, is there a fat girl in my back seat?" "Ohh there are two!!"

sorry had to throw that in there.

Is there a possibility to still jump in on this deal? I would like to pick up a set. How goofy would they look with stock E1 rims? So is the best set up for looks and semi handling H&R in the front and Eibach in the rear? What about struts; Koni, Bilstein (toxico?), or something off BAT?
