yes. take the black piece of the dash out, should be about six screws.

If you have a Contour the clock can be pulled out without taking the dash bezel off. You can gently pry it out with a pocket screwdriver. If you have a Mystique, you will need to remove the dash bezel to get to the clock. Once you have the clock in your hand, you can find the bulb on the backside. The bulb comes out with it's base/holder. You should be able to get a new bulb from the dealer for less than $5.00. I don't know of another source for the bulb. If you do a search you can find more detailed instructions along with the part number. Make sure to transfer over the green plastic sleeve from the old bulb. Ford does not sell the colored sleeve by itself although you can find one at www.partsexpress.com part number 070-082 (I think). About $2.00 for a package of 10.

Correct, the price is $1.70. And Jim this info couldn't have come at a better time since I will be ordering the blue sleeve (part 070-086) for when I install blue LEDs in my car. Thanks!

another source for the bulb on our 96 contour was that i took the old bulb out and went to Auto zone and found two bulbs in a pack for about $1.98 and i took the two wires that were in the back of the bulb and bendt them over and then put them into the metal clip that is on the original bulb that holds it in place and used it to keep the new bulb in place... i dont want to pay any $5.00 for a bulb at the dealer like the one to illuminate the inside door locks... you can improvise if you look around......

Mine just went out. The clock pops out easily with just a screwdriver. The bulb is behind the removable white plastic piece on the back of the clock.
However the bulb fits inside a black plastic holder (1.2 W, 12V) and cannot be removed from it.
I tried Autozone today and they didn't have anything close to it. I guess its a stealer, er, dealer item!

Just bought a replacement bulb from my local Ford dealer for $4.62, including tax.
Not real bad, but not cheap either!

Hey my clock went out and I added a blue LED. Now all the digits are bright blue. Everyone loves is. I will get pictures up tomorrow. I am repairing the leaking power steering right now.

of course it can be removed.. the little circular metal piece comes out with needle nose pliers and the bulb along with it.. just be careful if you want to save the bulb, as it will break when the pliers pull onit and not the metal piece... go to auto zone and dont ask questions about the bulb.. the guys dont know... just pick up a bulb about the same size that will fit in the hole(its got to be 12 volts and low watts, they have them i got two on a card that you had to bend the metal leads from the new bulb to fit onto the circular metal piece to use the new bulb.....
total cost about $1.50 to $2.00 for the card with the two bulbs....

I checked with my local Autozone, Advance, etc. I couldn't find anything close to the size of the clock bulb.
Anyway, its not worth the hassle.
