A nice little problem decided to come up today. Was accelerating up an on ramp at full tilt in 2nd gear. When I got over 4500 RPM the power flow became very uneven. Just drove in it again and is still having the same problem. Its not dramatic but it is pretty substantial, you can definitly feel it. Any ideas?
Three things come to mind.
IMRC acting up so that the secondaries are fluttering.
Fuel supply restricted so that it's running lean at high RPM and heavy load. Plugged filter or weak pump.
Ignition miss from weak ignition from worn plugs, leaking plug wires, or weak coil.
How would i go checking these things?
Heres some more info, just incase it would help.
Recently put a new sound system in it, 700 watt amp.
52k miles
Premium fuel only.
Just rained yesterday.
Have a AES SRS intake on it.
Important new information. The new intake.
Combined with hot weather that may be your problem. If you are feeding the engine hot under hood air that could explain your problem. You need to have the intake inlet where it gets cold air or you need to create a hot air dam.
You may find more with a search on such topics as "hot air dam", "hot weather power loss", " or "cold air intake". One of the veterans here made his hot air dam from an old plastic trash can lid.
Did you figure anything out yet?
